Another "make a quality demo in 64k".
When you think it's over, it isn't, there is a new part, and each one is beautifull.
A must have.

Not the most entertaining prod around, but definitely one of the most impressive!

Really amazing work!

I must say that I don't like the music in some parts. Too chiptune like. But otherwise... rules!

There are a few really terrible parts like the pipe-corridor-flyby-thingy, but some very nice stuff too. All in all I enjoyed it.

Hmm, technically very good but all parts are different, there is no coherence bettween parts of intro....there is tunells then effekt then flyby then efekt .... this is technically brilliant but no design no story intro...OK prod
Powerful, large, and nice. A really good one, lots of respects deserved

Canonball: yeah we know there is no connection whatsoever between the parts, we just wanted to create a "megaintro" to try how much we can put in 64k. Next time we'll have a real concept ;)

An excellent production, although I do feel that the planet and city scenes were lifeless. All in all, a bit uneven in quality, but lots of good effort went into this.
rulez added on the 2003-04-21 19:14:32 by sea_monkey sea_monkey
nothing to see here that you haven't seen many times before. plus it's very long.. so, the typical production that feels ok after your mind has been numbed by booze + a whole compo, but not something to appreciate home in those long winter nights

Incoherent design. Sorry.
I won't thumb it down just because I liked the first part (am I the only one?).
Anyway, you could have made 3-4 kick-ass intros in place of a single potpourri.

It's realy good for sure!

Should deserve a thumb up, but i'm sorry to say i love consitency. It looks too much like a "technical trick" instead of a "good idea with following good design" for me.

It's technically perfect, but where is the soul, what did you wanted to express, that's all questions i cannot answer to.

Would like to give it a "rulez", i'll give you a OK;) and all my congrats

It has, I guess, a good softsynth and a good intro editor. But it has no fx and is ugly. It's like if I would've made it, but with worse music. Which was kinda boring, because I bet good artists could've done way better with these tools. If the tools doesn't suck that is. Then it was a quite good work by the artists, but not by the coders. Anyway, someone is to blame.
added on the 2003-04-22 14:39:22 by steffo steffo
Alkama:
What's up with you? Soul? Express stuff? You want that in demos and intros? Then most prods must suck from your point of view. System by Coma and like. Into the Darkness by Halcyon might bring tears to your eyes. But scene poetry usually sucks, so that these guys didn't put "soul" or tried to "express" something in the intro did not make it worse.

It's impressive technically I think, how stuff they've put in it, but music sounds way too chippy to be made with softsynth (either the softsynth or musician or both suck). Also there isn't really any design so that's a big minus. Overall an ok production (could be a good breakthrough nominee)

Unless, of course, you mean soul as in "James Brown."

What a _DEMO_ -- really - it's so long, so much content. How'd they fit it into 64k? I suspect satan is behind this... but regardless, very nice prod.

Only criticism would be the lack of fluidity between parts. There are 4 separate parts here, all with different songs and visual themes. I'd have gone right from the beginning [abstract shapes] to the tunnel and gears. Tip top besides that!

At the beginning, I didn't seem to like this one, perhaps because it was so slow in my Pentium3 with Geforce2MX (or was it a bug?) and so couldn't feel it. Also because some scene seemed a bit ugly to me. But it was a cool watch at a friend's computer! It's very impressive for it's size, 3 diferrent musics and scenes, final cool landscape scene, good syncings, big textured earth and more cool stuff! But somehow, still I found some scenes ugly and still think that other less impressive in size 64kbs have much nicer and beautifull scenes. It's a pitty, cause it would be superb then! But still it deserves the thumb up for the huge demo it can fit in 64kb..

0wnage. Loved the tube parts; loved the gear parts; loved the citypart. It just kept going and going - I remember thinking "ok if they move those gears my head will explode" and of course they HAD to move the gears... and one of the best things about BP was seeing the FR guys give props to Gargaj and BoyC (which they fully deserved...)
wonder! i'm really happy to see such an intro from new-school .hu sceners. as for me, the most impressive part is the first one, and the best thing is the music: though it's not a state-of-the-art softsynth, one can hear a wonderful blend of a decent synth music and a chip tune - something which sounds very scene-stylish.
rulez added on the 2003-04-25 03:37:07 by Ger Ger
Better thumb up this one before I forget. Tons of quality content in 64k. Some parts were clearly inspired by Potion and Farbrausch intros, but hey, nothing wrong with improving on the best. :) The music is nothing mindblowing, but kudos for including many different tunes.
rulez added on the 2003-04-25 04:58:03 by phoenix phoenix
This did not impress me as much as other killer 64kb intros (probably because of the music which was so-so), but it has so many different and nicely done effects showing the amount of work that went into it. Very good!

Has a shitload of stuff, some cool, some not. Is quite incoherent and the music is mostly below average... but still.. Fuckin' great for a 'pop' 64k!

Also big props for having the confidence to 'wave your flag'.. Haven't seen such cool scene-nationality-based 'arrogance' in a while. Made me smile;-)

great amount of work and content in 64kb. it might not be the best intro ever, but it sure took a lot of effort to make. Sound crackles at some times (specially on the "city" part) and it's slow in others (Athlon XP1700+, 1Gb RAM, GF4Ti4600, Audigy Platinum 2), but otherwise, very nice. thumbs up!

Lacks some finishing touches, some modelisations, textures and transitions are less good that what we've been used to see from FarbRaush, but that one is quite refreshing, very long, lot's of variety, and not boring at all in the end :)

Please makes us a new one even better !
rulez added on the 2003-04-26 01:57:45 by Dbug Dbug
Trying to give some 'constructive criticism'..
Overall I liked it. It is real mega-intro and it feels just like those old-skool mega-demos, both because of the music (the style and how several different tunes used) and cause of the different parts that dont have much in common. I guess thats what you were aiming for... It has some appeal and its nicely done, but it is kinda 'yesterday' of demodesign. Or you can call it retro, I`m sure old sceners like your prod ;)

The length issue. I think you just need to know where to stop. You can go on forever generating different shapes of different colors and rotate them in many ways or fly around the same scene (with many pipes and a yellow cistern ;)), but at some point it becomes boring and even annoying. I dont mean that your demo was boring, but it could`v been bit shorter (the first part) and more dynamic.

The scenes themselves are nice (esp for 64k). But back to the overall design and the lack of consistency - it is a subject for discussion, cause there are no clear rules here.

To others: dont just say "sux" cause of that, it never helps the authors to improve, u only discourage them. If you have an idea what should`v been done better (and what way) - then say it.

Out of my head: the scenes could be mixed instead of linear demo structure, that made it look like few intros one after another.

You could use uniform color scheme for the entire demo (note how that is used in many stylish music videos and movies); and I dont
mean monochrome.
Or maybe tricks like specific renderer (ie tv-like noise, scanlines or something else that makes your demo look like a solid product, not just a number of scenes. Also helps to stand out from the mass of the demos having generic HW-rendered look (who has said that HW rendering kills individuality in prods?)

Some strong style 2d overlays( I guess its harder to fit in 64k, unless you have routines for vector-based 2d ).
Having a common theme in the demo is another way. Some people dont like 'story demos', but many others do. And you dont have to make it narrative, just a common theme. Imagine some fantasy place (maybe from a movie or a game), some city or whatever - a place that has a soul, atmosphere, purpose. And then create your demo like if it were a short tv report where you need to show that place to a viewer.

Just some thoughts.. open to discussion. Later lines not necessarily related to you cool intro (that wipes the floor with many full-size demos ;)), jut the general demo design.
Hope to see more from you guys.

Speedy:
First of all thank you for the contructive words.

In fact the _concept was_ to create a megaintro with different styles and music and with little or no connection at all.(to be more precise, a "common-design" part, a story-like 3d flyby, an industrial-techy part, and a gameover-feel ending) I guess many people don't like that ;)
Although we got one advantage: everybody likes at least one part ;)
I think you should consider this as a technological demo(like 3dmark).
If we used a uniform colorscheme i think it would be boring then. This works in a normal intro, but not in a multipart intro.

About "yesterday demodesign": if you go after the mass and want to be "trendy", there is a nice chance that you will be called rippers. We inentionally didn't want to create an modern style intro cause we knew that most probably we will be compared to farbrausch. So originality was the keyword.
added on the 2003-04-26 08:18:59 by zoom zoom
Yeah, and you pissed us off bigtime with that, because we wanted to do a megaintro in the near future too :)

Impressive show, with a "we can put this much stuff in 64k" attitude. Starts slowly and saves the best stuff to the end. Although the intro is incoherent from time to time and I can't really say I'd like the music, this one deserves a thumb up - if not for anything else, for beating Farbrausch on their homefield. ;)

I can only agree with Speedy and consequently Sanx. It's a great intro showing a group with the potential to create something stunning the next, something with better music (this soundtrack lacked (imo)), part timing and consistent design. If Conspiracy manages to experience the same evolution as Farbrausch, we may be sure to see some real masterpieces in the future. And yeah, Zoom, you succeeded in what you wanted to do! Very cool 64k...indeed!!!
I liked it extremely at the bigscreen at BP03 !
Keep it up, guys!!
The music of the first part I like most! In opposite to nowadays mostly dumb, dull and stupid 'pseudo-industrial-and-or-techno-bumm-bumm-hammering-without-any-composing-knowledge' it has a great melodic style and the stylish effects of the scenes fit perfectly to it! Great design there!!
When I saw it first and it continued to part2, 3 and 4 (end-part) I was more than overwhelmed !!! Every part-change also had a different music with it! Really cool ! And the parts where different and made it interesting to keep watching till the end! It never looped any effect and kept fresh until the very end!

The end scene with the flag and the montains really was the _bummer_ as everyone might just expect a 'simplier' end and credits-part but surely NOT such a hammer after all the other previously seen parts! ;-DD

Really a GREAT 64k which deserves to be named in the same reign of fr-08, heaven seven, shrooms and certain more already cult-64ks in the last years... !!!

Keep it up, guys! You rock !! :-D

Hey

I'm currently writing from Trx, and have to share some bad news about the final version of the intro.
It looks like some f**ing virus ate my computer, the mainboard for sure, and maybe the hdd too... This delayes the release of the final only, but we don't know how long. In the worst case scenario, all the final code has to be rewritten. Anyways, I'm working on it.
Final will be faster, smaller, better etc.
see ya

at breakpoint it was pretty impressive, a good look within the comfort of my own home makes me feel like placing a few points of criticism:

- the textures could have been better, at least of a higher resolution here and there.
- the shading techniques used could have easily been more pleasing. a lot of objects looked really dusty and unlit..
- some full-screen filters had some disturbing little artifacts..
- the music could have been a little nicer here and there.

but besides all that, nice work.

the entire music is synthesized, therefore ripping is quite hard to achieve. and no, neither of the songs are cover versions:
- part 1 was written by Vincenzo
- part 2 was written by Innocent
- part 3 was a coop between Vincenzo and Innocent
- part 4 was written by Vincenzo

please get your facts straight, before accusing us with stuff like that...

gargaj: youre wrong!!
the music IS ripped!
the music comes from an old swedish demoscener , and its called "stumm groda" one part and the other one was called "jul i somalien" or something like that.. uhm, cant remember the guys name however, very talented musician (not):)

I too like the concept of mega-intros ;)

No, seriously, I don't think this intro is too long, the parts themselves are short enough to keep them interesting and they're different enough to keep the attention over the whole 10somewhat minutes, so it's perfectly ok for me.

I particularly liked the graphics. Though somewhat more 'obviously' generated than our recent stuff it's a BIG leap forward from the dutch colorscheme and meaningless "I can wobble spike ball vertices" geometry. All colors were chosen carefully and though the intro definitely has this certain "look what we can pack into 64k" style, the scenes themselves have a lots of style. Yeah, me likes.

The music on the other hand is nice but somewhat too simple and generic for my taste. but maybe that's just me, if I can expect more than chipgoa from myself, I can expect that from others to. I definitely want to see improvement on this side in your next prods. You've successfully proven that you can write a working softsynth, now prove that you can write a good one :)

And as total this is a worthy winner. We in FR might be the technology leaders but this one shows many qualities that our entry lacked, mostly the dedication to producing a well designed, polished intro (instead of 'quote durch titte' *selfslap*) :)

oh, and also, I should probably comment on this intro as well. although I don't really think most of the individual scenes are particularly great (and other people have discussed the incoherence), it's still nice to see people spending all this effort on their intro. So, thumbs up then.

finished product, it's a demo!
in first part it miss some synchros, music is good!
the city scene breaks the design too much, unuseful scenes
the 3rd part is cool, the best of this prod
end credits part is not very beautiful, but the flags is good coded
and all of that in 64ko is very good because lots of musics

multipart? am i just too old to get this? this isn't multipart (at least if it ran correctly), it's just one looong and boring intro. frankly i just don't get why everyone likes it so much. the music is good here and there, but there are also butt-ugly parts (in the music, not in the intro :), the look is pretty dull/standard and overall i didn't like it that much. kind of a "background-intro", if there is such a thing.

about the intro: i liked it, even thought it's not hitting the limits that could be hit by the introengine and i think the weakest part was the music... it was too 1995 in spite of the 2003-ish intro :)

congratulations on a professional intro. you managed to fit a lot into 64k and, technically, have done a great job.

i vote pigface because i agree with alkama:
- no soul (btw stefancrs, soul != scene poetry -- you missed the point)
- poor structure (i.e. where's climax?)
for these reasons i found it boring to watch.. :(

i like your other prods, btw.

There are only two minii with this demo.
1) The synths. Could have been better at som places. Well, it's a 64k, so I'm happy with it, but I thought I'd mention it.
2) The loader bar. I was about to lose faith in this demo/my computer. The loader bar skipped as hell from 0-50. At 50 it hung my computer for at least 3 minutes. Then it skipped it's way to 100. And then the demo ran so totally smooth till the end. Use the remaining 512 bytes to improve the loader. (: (Btw, 512 missing to 65536. Is that a coincidence?)
So, now to the plii:
Use of 3D
Use of software gfx manipulation (Or is that GL stuphph?)
Music
Flow
Length
And all in 64k!
The scret is spelled "algorithmically"

No. Sections in Windows EXEs are aligned to 512 byte boundaries, so in most cases the exe's size is, too.

0-50 is the graphical generators, quite slow because unoptimized.
At 50, the music patterns are transformed from per-colum to per-row; kindof slowish because it uses a lot of memory.
50-100 is the sample generation; fast because it's only ~4-5 megabytes.

No software gfx, everything is GL.

The music and visuals are outstanding for 64kb.
I still remember the reason why I would even watch the 64kb demos - because I had dial-up...

so long ago... like, 5 years or so.

This was a truely great demo... and even has an inspirational demoscene story to go along with it (although, you removed it from your site, it seems...) which is the reason why my spine tingles when I watch the flag at the end.

I remember seeing it the first time and thinking, "hmm, this is pretty long, but why are the effects so simple? Fuck... It can't be?.." and then I realized it was 64k I was watching. o_0

11 years already, time flies... Great intro, part 1 and the end part are still my favorites. Excellent intro!

It's cool for 64k but the demo itself is kinda meh...

Good of course, with unbelievable amount of content. But while some parts are still good, somehow the music and some visuals haven't aged very well IMHO...

Why I haven't thumbed this up yet?
Massive amount of great content in 64K. Indeed, it was a feat for the Hungarian scene at the time.
