Yeah, the raytracing engine is -at this moment- the best ever seen on an intro, BUT the rtcr is not everything. One of the things I like most is the whole ambient this one achieved to create. It's a killer, an amazing 64k size production. I agree with U2, it's magic.

What to say... everything in here has been said before.. To put it short: The most awesome combination of good code, stunning visuals and moody music i've ever seen.
If you're a real real scener you put this one into the "shell=" line of WIN.INI :)

wow! I always thought that nice raytracers were not good friends of design, but this demo proved me wrong! I love the music, just so relaxing, and the scene with the sea and the 'red' islands. it's one of those demos that everyone (as the comments before me prove) keep watching one time, and another, and another...

FR08 had innovative code (compression, texture generation) and music, but Heaven 7 still reigns in effects (crazy raytracing) and design. Just plain flawless (but so was fr08.. oops, I'm going to get into another war, better shut up :).
Only a couple nitpicks. One, the improper/misspelled English in the "poetry" (Optimus, that's what's wrong with it, from an American point of view :). Also, I'm not too keen on the "shrieky" percussion (the high pitch sound). It just doesn't seem appropriate for this intro.
So, please enjoy Heaven 7, but some of you shouldn't go so far to love it as to compromise your, umm, manhood (see comment from SiN above :).
PS, I was let down not to see an Exceed release at MS01, but I'll look forward to Assembly again.

Ughf, i got known the chiptune wasn't about 30 but about 80 kb but anyway i keep tending it sounds lika 3MB mp3 :)

yes, even if it isnt something mindblowing, its a nice trip. i end up reading texts too much and not seeing other things but well text is good only if you dont read it and try to understand since its bullshit anyway but alltogether with the rest of stuff it fits together very well uh this is my first post after a longer break on poeeeeets so let it be like this--

It's got average music, average "design", crap sgenepoetry (which can atleast be disabled) and some better-than-average scenes. (and its very nice that it happens to work nicely on my 200mhz piece of junk) but somehow it just doesn't have anything which would make me want to watch it over and over again... still its _way_ better than most other real-time raytracing intros around.

i think there is nothing to comment, even if the music was ripped. i'm just watching it again and again...
WTF?? There is 12 different tones / octave to play and it's like a billion songs previous made. For every song made it's like thousand using the same chords / tone patterns. As soon as anyone hears anything sounding like anything else it's a witchhunt about ripping and bla bla bla.... It's virtually impossible to make music that doesn't sound like anything else unless you've actually heard all the music in the world!

classic work. great scenes that seem interrelated, good code, and good mood. best part of this is the ability to turn off the text, an option i've dreamt about when watching many other demos (definitely prolongs the rewatchability factor).

oh well... the graphics are truly outstanding, and the soundtrack is somewhat monumental. the styling seems to drive the engine to the maximum effect.
It's just pretty. And with the final version, there are no more spelling errors to distract from the mood... wish Exceed would make some more

Alright, I don't think I need to go into how cool this prod is, it's been said over and over. However, here's something cool I found out...
I'm running KDE with WindowMaker as my window manager (Linux, for any who are not familiar). And I found that if you run Heaven Seven under Wine, then the mini-icon that WindowMaker creates for it is the actual demo! So I just run it looped with no sound and hide the window so it's just running 24/7 at the bottom of my screen in a little 40x40 pixel window ;-) Pretty cool stuff.

One of my all-time favorites. Not only because it runs on every OS I tried it on. :-P
Stunning example of a software-rendered demo, which still looks unbelievably good over three years later. While the text could've used some cleaning up (it has potential, but the word choices make some of the passages sound awkward and slightly comical), all of the scenes have nice variation, and the opening image of the woman walking down the white light corridor makes a very powerful statement, and is the one image that really sticks with you after the demo is over. Software-driven in 64k... I love these productions.

I think the reason Heaven Seven is so popular is because it shows great programming skills and has a very good design, so that basically everyone gets something out of it. Contrary to my first impression, even the lyrics make a lot of sense. The way I understand them, they refer to some essential questions, humans may ask about heaven, for which there are no answers. In my opinion this is the single best demo of all demos I know. Some recent intros may appear more technically stunning, but design- and contentwise these do not come close to Heaven Seven.

It is very pretty, good music, good rendering and 3d, much more pleasant to look at than much current demo. And the fact that it have there a message to shock little but why a demo could not have a militant step, it's not difficult to find artists who express their political or philosophical choice !

The lyrics are about the idea of afterlife. That idea is not limited to christianity at all. The intro starts with someone being born, then shows images in the background of children, then grown-ups, then old people. The ocean as the last scene is a nice symbol for the "final" destination.
There are only a few other productions with such well thought up lyrics and content.

One of my all time favorites... This is one of the ones that drew me into the scene... nice blend of music, color, objects, animation, all in 64k (yeah, that's huge compared to 4k and 256b, but that's still pretty damn small...)

it was "time's up" by lone wolf. you can find this tune in "emissions #4" chip-pack. analyze their patterns, especially tremoring pad (copy+paste procedure rocks).

Every day I check if .debris finally is on second place of the pouet top 10, but rarely I log in into pouet. I just checked. I never thumbed this.

OK, here is the full story. I wanted to know if you write the German word "Daumen" in English as "thumb" or "thump". I just can't remember, I am that bad in orthography, especially English. So i checked at wikipedia, and of course it's a 'b', but when i saw the image of the thumb, i knew i have to add that on pouet. but to what production? I only need one more comment to get my first CDC, so i really had to add one positive comment to some production. which one?

unlike "das produkkt" or "debris", this piece has some ungrappable esence that farbrausch have imho never ever reached - heaven seven has pure scene spirit. and this spirit cannot be reached by 3d flybys only, no matter how brilliant they are. heaven seven still roxx after 7-8 years which is something un4seen..

I don't know, I've never really found this that amazing. The raytracing is cool from a technical point of view but in order to show it off a lot of rather generic scenes are used (reflectoballs!) which isn't that interesting to look at.

If you want to enjoy this prod at a higher resolution than the available ones, set a BP at 00401203 (after UPX unpacking), then change the EAX (width) and EDX (height) registers. In order to avoid glitches, try to stick to multiples of the original resolutions.

I wasn't active on that time when this intro was released. Later I got back into scene again and I went through lots of demos and intros from those times which I "lost". If I think about the time when this intro was released, I understand the hype and love towards it, but to be honest, I personally don't experience special feelings when I watch this intro. It's ok, the music is nice, but that's it. Good, but not the most best intro ever :)
