awesome oO
it's not only the first demo on this platform, it's also the best one!1!
Bloody excellent!
you're mental!
Haha, Second Reality on a size of a display of a watch. Greatest demo on Party! =)
that was awesome dudes!!
http://www.ping.uio.no/~espesan/SHizZLE.avi btw. Probably not permanent.
Not only is the demo great, but the fact that you guys reverse engineered a console where even the CPU is undocumented and proprietory is so hardcore and cool that i think my pants just exploded.
Really rocked hard on the bigscreen too.

Awesome, stylish, cool.
"You can't do this on XBOX".

cute
deluxe!

All the more reason why we considered it funny when our Xbox demo was right after that one :)
Brilliant little hack, this.
Probably the most awesome prod from the party, it rocked at the bigscreen
there's not one single point to critizise! awesome effects on really crappy hardware ;)
thrilled to see more coming :D
thrilled to see more coming :D
Shizzle! :D
hehehe
great stuff. Such crazy platform stuff rulez.
Congrats guys, I knew you'd make it :)
Oh and don't forget people, not only did they reverse engineer a gamecube game (wich happened to have pm emulator in it) to figure out the opcodes, they also made a flashcart to make the demo run on the real hw and they produced an emulator and assembler/disassembler to code with.
Hardcore indeed

kojote says two thumbs up ^^
PM RuleZ =)
perfect. do that again next year please.
Really awesome. But next time drop off the 2nd reality and the same with your own stuff :p
...and DO the same with your own stuff.
By far the best production at BP05, it rules more than I can possibly try to explain.
my highest respects.
Man, that was the best "How'd they do THAT? and They aren't actually going to do... they did!" technical demo I've seen in a LONG time. Here's to the real wild demos! And the music was pretty good too- how many channels were you working with?
omg!
it... blows... my... mind... away...
Hahaha, oh my god. That's so great.
*bows down in worship*
Generally, I'd suggest you to get a life. But I just wish you don't ;) Thanks for the madness!
This damn fucking rocks!!! :)
Respect for the demo, and the hype you managed to create as well. :)
The demo is a bit too long perhaps. Then again, just when I really started to get bored you threw some tits and a DYCP on the screen. Great timing!

Crazy!
rockt allerderbst
Sick fuckers.
OWNED HARD!
WOOOW!
Very nice demo here.. looking forward to see more stuff on the Pokémon Mini in the future.
One tiny little thumb for me ^^, and a bigass thumb up for Team Pokeme!

What are the specs of this platform btw and in which language did you programmed it?!?!

Very impressive! Especially the 3D flyby at the end.
What's the reason some of the earlier effects are so sluggish when the later parts of the demo clearly show that the device's capable of so much more?

roqz big time, very impressive
optimus: also check the video they made for the animation/video wild compo where they described how they h4xx0rd the machine. was pretty cute to watch aswell ^^ not as cute as this real wild entry though. this one fucking rocked!
Already waxed poetic on this once but I'll do it again here. Kills that stupid argument about one platform dominating the wild demo compos DEAD. FOR EVER. And for that I'm eternally grateful. On top of it, it's a great achievement. The only thing I dislike is that it contains 3 scenes from a demo I happen to think is overrated. However, it's impressive that you were able to (: Next time, do Hardwired (: Anyway. Massive props. If you make some devkits up, I'm interested. (I can't solder. at all.)
Unbelieveable stuff at the compo. Even thou the reverseengineered code of the CPU and the selfmade CrossAss-Tools. Big Respect for exploring new worlds...
true scene spirit
Rocked so much. Thank you for this demo !
yeah, AWESOME.
Is that SR flyby part coded or video/animation playback?
Anyway, a thumb for getting this to work at all.
Anyway, a thumb for getting this to work at all.
POKE ME
from looking at the first scenes i get the strong feeling that the 3d part is a video.
anyways, big cudos for all this reverse engineering, really really impressive
anyways, big cudos for all this reverse engineering, really really impressive
It's hard to believe that a small B&W GameBoy wannabe is capable of all that!
Excellent work guys, keep it up! :D
Excellent work guys, keep it up! :D
fo' shizzle!
insanely cool!! (even though the 3d-scene from second reality is a series of images)
thumb!
gloom: who cares, it ruled! :)
nice!
!respect
this rocked us all down while watching it at the party! totally amazing boys!!!
most prolly the best demo of bp05! :D
GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!
GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!
GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!
GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!
OMG!
Come on guys, even for a "video" on that "crappy" hardware you need some skillz. And the idea totally rocks. :)
Fuck.... you guys are totally insane.
YES SiR!!! ...

gloom: who cares, it ruled! :)
Take care -that's what made c64 demos turn into teletextovision animation players oon certain german parties. Gloom raises a point that we shouldn't omit -making such devices play anims isn't the same thing as making it *sing* :)
Always great to see the demoscene arrive at a new platform! Extra respect for the work involved (reverse engineering etc.)
absolutely rules, and I love the main-tune :)
oh my god; it's so genious, beautiful, unique... and what an incredible attitude to make a demo for such a platform :)
Pretty cool. You should publish the specs you found for the Pokemon Mini.
thumbs up for the hardware hack, thumbs down for an ugly demo here + u could leave "second reality" alone for once..
well done. i don't like the high pitched music, but i guess i can't blame you for that. also i don't see what this new trend is all about. (rip-off-a-classic-demo)
I had to ask if this video was a fake before leaving a comment, it says it all :)
Congrats.
and congrats again for this totally original platform choice.
Congrats.
and congrats again for this totally original platform choice.
This is demotool making into the extreme: you are only missing making your own console to run demos, all other things were great!!! How can I get a devkit?
thank You because now I have a totally original, insane story to tell on meetings :)
Amazing hackwork and demo for such a low-end machine. Now go, hack the DS and build DS flash carts too. :)))
impressive!!! now we can start with "sprite records" competition for Pokemon Mini :))) <how many balls can you display?>
That's mad!
This is incredibly elite. Hacking an obscure hardware platform is cool enough, but making an awesome demo on top of that just can't be beat.
i'm a bit puzzled why some of the effects run quite slow compared to certain others. but nevermind, it rocks!
This is awesome, I don't want to think about how much time and effort that went into this production.
didn't really care much for the second reality references and using animations.
I'll withheld my thumbs-up until you release a higher quality video
respect again
asasel: Have you watched the 21mb video ?
respect..nothing else than just respect.
It was utterly butterly impressive! you got skills!
it has tits!
This is a so fucked up way to spend your spare time that it deserves nothing but my utmost respect.
amazing - oh no they hacked pokemon!
looking at the filesize and the dithering of the effects it seems to be 100% sure to me that most (if not all) effects are purely precomputed and downsampled animations..
(but my full respect for h4x0ring this little thingie and especially for creating a DC-version of the emu!!!)
(but my full respect for h4x0ring this little thingie and especially for creating a DC-version of the emu!!!)
@toxie
If they were animations, why where the distortion ball, voxel, marching squares, black hole, tunnel and bumpmapping effects so slow?
The logo, 3D flight and woman are animations for sure.

and big props to the music part, which still didn't sound annoying even on a musically impaired hardware :)
crazy!
Toxie, the size is mainly because of some 8bit lookup-tables for optimization. The only three animation are the logo, the 3d flight and the woman as xeron said. And because of the little time Lupin had left to put all effects into the framework the rom space might not be used in the most effective way. Even the nfo file is somewhere in the rom space hehe.
well.. then i've got to do this: ;)))
Wow! :D
this rules! loads of cool effects in there! and the music is awesome for something with little more power than a pc beeper! yea, i really dig the running girl with the happy music :)
Hell, respect.
teh ownage
nice! keep on doing it alternative!
Durva... :)
so... what platform shall be h4xx0red next? ;)
really insane...you guys rule the pokeworld!
almost unbelievable :D
shizzle
Cute
One of the most impressing releases at Breakpoint. Beats the shit out of the PC demos! :)
Makes me wish I had a flashcart right now. :)
wow! :)
OMG!! BEST I EVERH SEEN!
this is do damn heavy stuff. deepest respect!
I'll never forget this one. :)
Yeah PCee take this!

this is soooooooo cool!
if you are cool, you can't thumb this down! :D
Thumbs up for that :)
Just a bit frustrated to see these low cost devices be much more powerful than my beloved Oric Atmos :D

my indisputable respect
There must be some bug in the pouët.net database... or in my memory. A milestone
what las said
Respect dudes...
cool
the reverse engineering is neat. but the demo is rather dull on the other hand. slow effects are not cool. I do like the very few effects that run in a descent frame rate and also some parts of the music.
It bothered me that they submitted a commersial for this demo in the video compo. a performance in marketing I guess!

The "commercial" was pretty cool, since it showed what they did when they reverse-engineered that thing. In my opinion, it was (and is) quite interesting compared to most video entries.
very extremely cool work, wish I knew how to do stuff like this.
I've beeb waiting for the day.
This deserves the utmost respect.
Awesome!
Hahaha never heard of this little piece of hardware before, but what you guys took out of it is simply incredible !!!
You guys simply rule. I never heard of this hardware before until today, but it seems it has a "1-bit-chunky-mode" so the effects should be easy to do ;-)
And I really like the tune. I think is its the best 1 channel chip tune I've heard so far.

Thumb-up me beautiful!
I keep having weird dreams that Andromeda had a secret love child... and this is it...
The NEXUS7 of Poké-mini...
Now if only the music didn't suck ((-_-))...
