Depending on how you look at it, it's either a fancy, exciting musicdisk, or a repetitive, boring demo :). But I gotta give credit for this pioneer in rave eyecandy.

this was kick ass when it came out! ok its simple effects mixed with a few anims repeated over & over to the no-stop buffered music. but it's just great. btw the musix & anims are available on Aminet if anyone wants them :)
this rocks, it goes on for 30 minutes i think but the music doesn't repeat itself :)
Yes, when I showed this to some friends at the time, they thought I was screwing them and that I was playing a video :)
PC people don't understand this sort of stuff :)
Same thing with State Of The Art and 9 Fingers ;)

Scali: I'm a PC scener, and I happen to disagree with you.
It's not the platform I can't stand, it's the Amiga zealots thinking they still own the secret formula to making demos.

Nice music, effects - which effects ? ;)
30 minutes of deja vu, but cool anyway :)
shifter: I don't think you understand what I meant.
What I meant was that in 1992, PC demos were still at an early stage (partly because of the hardware, partly because of lack of experience).
Has nothing to do with zealotry. Amiga was just that platform where it all happened in the early 90s, ofcourse as a result of the superior hardware at that time. Simple facts.
Ofcourse PCs well made up for that with the 486-VLB hardware. But... that was later.
I guess you're either jealous because you never experienced the early scene on Amiga... or you just don't get what I'm talking about because you didn't experience it.
Your statement points straight in the direction of not getting it anyway.

A kickass breakbeat 'musicdisk' with some simple but very nicely synchronised effects. An all-time classic for the Amiga and a bitch to run on any emulator I last tried it on.
jesus is e for many!
Amiga was the greatest thing to make music on.... and this LSD - Jesus on-es was the greatest music video i have seen it is 100% Hardcore Dance,Rave,Old Skool all mixed into each other this is when Rave from 1991 was being produced i still have my
Amiga 1200 which still have all the Disks i got including LSD and the main production from this was great it was fast hard and hyper it was a multi-mix tape of rave tunes in a video you got to take bout 2 pillz and get stoned and watch this it gets better.....

when will you stop making a fool out of yourself scali? i almost feel obliged to buy you a 'mr. obvious' shirt.
well yes, Plek, but is that shirt subpixel-correct?
(cool demo though, but not 'the best ever!! raaaahh!!!!!' or anything. I liked the Tubular Bells-bit :))

sag, well yes!
a fun fact is, that this one got featured alongside coma by rebels and the atari-demo das omen back then to help selling computers in one of the bigger stores over here ..
anyway. rolf rocks. heh.
anyway. rolf rocks. heh.
I liked the the Tubular Bells part too, and I also liked the Muppets, but never cared for this demo much. It was too tacky.
Total Kaos and Techno Warrior were much better demos in my opinion.

Can never get Echo`s music out of my head :)
JESUS REMEMBER ME WHEN I COME INTO YOUR KINGDOM!
Hia everyone.
Jesus On E's was groundbreaking stuff back then, the demo concept was thought up by Echo, aka Graham from Grantham, and coded by Matress (Mat from scunny) if my failing memory serves me right.
I was a coder for LSD and responsible for the grapevine series, I ended my relationship with LSD after a few issues of the Magazine style grapevines.

back in those days, this ruled big time, for the amazing 30 minute long rave mix, the cool anims etc. Although theres not enought effects perhaps, it stays just above bordom level. And the music still rules now.
dudes! :) jesus on e's was the first megademo i saw way back in the very early 90's. this got me hooked on the demo scene etc etc (insert lots of waffle)
anyway, the coder was Shagrat and the music was by Echo. iirc the credits music was written while the demo was compiling and is 17k :)

Erm, it's a trackmo not a megademo. Anyhoo, I always thought this one was way overrated although it was certainly one of the better music video demos. But still.. There's not enough variation, which leads to nearly Odyssey-style bordeom after a while. The music could be done a lot better too, although I do appreciate the N-Joi bits. :)
Fans shouldn't be offended as this is just my personal opinion.

hahaha. nice tunes and carefully picked samples :D
I don't know if I'd like to watch a demo for half an our, but having the video in a small winow while posting on pouet it makes this one very good.
I simply cannot forget this music. The code wasn't impressive as all parts were plain anims but it was all well done. One of the very few demos of a cracking group that I kept in my mind. Well done boys!
OK. .. stop the GODDAMN presses already.. this IS nostalgica..!! DAMN THIS IS NICE
I call it wierd. 30 minutes of the same things over and over again, with different rave tracks underneath. Ok, sure. But 30 minutes?!
At least they make nice background music.
At least they make nice background music.
classic
I used to run this demo when I gave a party to my friends at home :)
nostalgia points are pretty high in this case - lack of variation effectwise but the music isn't getting repetitive :)
excellent!
a flawed classic... rave city ;)
i really love this!
too repetitive
PLUR!
where the hell did my Thumb go? Anyway, this was Echo (Spoon's) big hit - and yes it does contain anti-truck code (it will NOT run on any Amigas, or emulators, I am near.) The followups - Satan on Speed and Deep Lard 7 - were both unfinished. Tho Deep Lard 7 has been promised for 12 years now.
OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!
i never watched this prod before for some reason and goddamn, this is by far one of the best demoexperiences _ever_... (one of the few demos that make you 'wow'). RAVE!

Oh, come on. A boring and repetitive demo like this with such simple effects could just as well have been done on a PC from 1992. And if you wonder why nobody did it, that's because they were working on better ones :-)
Anyhow, I think this is one of the most overestimated demos ever. The effects are way to simple for a '92 demo and the music sounds like a bad rip from some radio dance mix which were so common back in the days. Still it has something, so a piggie from me it is.
Totally overrated demo!
Ghandy: Not all parts were pure animations!
Ghandy: Not all parts were pure animations!
Worth a thumb up.
I remember hooking up a cassette recorder to my A500 to record this in the early 90s....now i play it on my xbox, watch it on my widescreen tv and put it through my surround amp....and it still rocks...show this especially in 2005 to anyone outside amigadom and tell them it came on 2 floppy disks and they will not belive you. Yes the gfx repeat and the sound mix is unbalanced but it lasts for near half an hour but how many other demos sound tracks can you download on p2p? An absoulute classic
Not my kind of stuff.
My kind of stuff.
haha, jesus ownz.
Uber track
Question to everyone: I definetely heard a remastered / remixed version of the soundtrack somewhere - anyone knows about it?

DRUG FREE ZONE!
my cup of tea not
The last time I have seen this demo was at least 10 years ago and despite über-horrible music, I still love this mighty classic.
hmm.. far too long
Today, simply perfect to let run somewhere in the background... The music is so cool!
this was a hard techno demo!
SO overated, but not bad enough for a thumb down.
c',moon kids, e's are not cool. but rave is cool!
Fucking great!
oops, thumb
few code,many anims,unoriginal music,
but i still like it somehow...Nostalgia.!
(now that i managed to get my Sound running in Stereo again finally,it was worth a look again.!)

Apart from the intro picture I never liked this at all and I still don't like it.. It's too messy and is very over-rated.
What they said.
the most overrated demo in the history of the universe.
it's massive.
I always considered that one to be a rebel's coma wannabe demo.
got boring real fast
Classic rave demo :)
it's a classic. for the fans, you might be interested in a high quality captures here.
rave on!
rave on!
LET ME HEAR YOU SAY YEAH!
ooops forgot thumb up
the code suxx !
but the composition of all it together with the music is just congenius !

If it were a music disk then surely it would have a track selector.
Lots of "colour 0" and lots of "bright/dark" makes it good for a VJ with an Amiga genlock
it's only boring repetitive if your sitting down in front of a monitor. For maximum enjoyment: Get up of your bloated arse. Turn the lights out and then get up and dance.
Never been impressed by that one, I've always found it too boring and repetitive.
Yes
It's very long and repetitive, but it's not boring.
Too boring. I don't like it.
Awesome music :)
aye, and echo/LSD ofcoz!
Fuck yeah, awesome shit! Outstandig score, reminds me of the crazy early party days... um, where are the E's? :D
gentleman: um, or get them all in one zip and not have to deal with .gz files. :)
phoenix: practically accepted ;)
ohh fuck! awesome demo! and music rocks
For the music!!!

Fun for a few minutes. Guess you have to be on E to enjoy the full 30 mins.
Hehe. One of the first demos I ever saw. Still can't believe they could fit so much onto two floppies.
I had this on 2 disks labelled simply 'rave disk 1' and 'rave disk 2'. It got confiscated by my parents, presumably because they thought it would lead me to take lots of drugs. Still, good to see it here :)
I remember this in l8 '92 on mate's Amiga 1200, we managed to blow up his speakers with this while he was working! Awesome trackloader, all that music on 2 DSDD, don't forget Oct 24th 2012 it is 20th birthday of this great prod I will be celebrating
In general techno demos/parts were plain horrible, but JoEs stands taller the rest in that genre.
Stone cold classic!
what djhoffman said
A proper classic.
.
Rejv!
we did this back in 84
a true classic :)
This just never grows old... Legendary!
Classic!
Too long!
what darkus said..
No thumb up, there has been better ones in this style...
Defo a classic.
This demo is really stunning!!! Perhaps quite long, it's more a great one-song-musicdisk than a demo, but anyway, it rocks!
the soundtrack was a big thing back then!
Held my attention despite being only about ten effects, can't imagine what it'd have been like to pop this in an A500 with no idea of its length. Good music (shame about wild stereo separation on the youtube video), well choreographed effects and a style very true to its inspiration.
My mind never slowed down after watching this one back in the 90s. Wow. A pure classic.
Great classic!
Very good classic !
Sucks. I didn't like it back then and never after. But it was very popular among the game lamers, because it got attention on every brittish magazine like CU Amiga and Amiga Format. Effects weren't up to usual demo scene standards, but music just happened to be pop at that time when techno was making breakthrough :) For me sounded more like those Aminet MED songs ;)
Sorry to be this harsh, but really... some limit to over rating too :) There were much better demos...

Overrated
meh
.
Same as some people here, I never understood why this demo had such ratings. Didn't impress me back then, and still doesn't now: ugly colors, average code, and certainly not the best techno music made on Amiga.
I mean, *1992* come on, Amiga has such superior productions at this time regarding code, gfx and musix ; just take a look at what was relased at the Party 91 and 92, for me this demo wouldn't even be in the top 10 of each party Party 91 & Party 92
I waited 20 years, I had to say it :)

a pioneer prod that hasn't aged too gracefully. fun at the time..
Jeez is that ugly.
Wouldn't watch again (not sure... did I watch something? don't remember.), and sure as hell won't listen again.
(Well, actually I watched the first 2 minutes in 2006 or something. Now I checked the excellently recorded Youtube video, if not for the skip bar I wouldn't know there was 28 minutes more of the same coming. Then I watched it in UAE and the effects actually looked a bit better in 50 Hz, but I turned it off after 2 minutes again. It can't be just me. :))
I liked the b&w face anim A LOT, though.

Ok, since i've got too few thumb downs to maintain the great balance and this has become really overrated, piggie goes down. Plus this deserves it.
Definitely NOT overrated. One of the best pure music video style demos and an awesome track as well.
Just watched it again, definitely one of the best demos ever made.
Perhaps the finest demo to ever feature a cameo from Rolf Harris.
Looks cool, but drags on WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long
too long. I thought the MTV logo was fun.
love it ;)
I don't know if i would have liked it 20 years ago, but now its just piggy for me.
Tight!
I never understood the hype around this demo. Never liked it. All the effects were poor at the time, can't fix that with audio sync.
Thumbs for the highlight of the demo during the end scroller :

This and baby Ford got me into electronic music.
Yea, I'm conditioned from endless hours in raves, but this is sick, and def not too long.
Crap.
Always thought this was boring. Come on, 30+ minutes?
I have these mods on my (then few hunderd MB!) HDD for now like 15 years. Since then they haunt me with their great drive and enery. And today I find the source... don't care about the visuals, came for the tracks
also kudos for giving a full list where the samples came from at the end, nice touch and very fair
This demo rulez so hard that I thought I had given it a thumb up for 2-3 years, but now I noticed I didn't. :P
One of my favorites back then.
awesome music once again!
Complaining about it being too long or the effects not being impressive is silly. Or at least I thought the point is to have a full rave mix on a floppy. (Well two but you don't need to keep switching disks once it's all loaded up..)
There's even some appropriate and synced visuals to go along with the mix. Sure there are demos more impressive in that department. But to have all this coming uninterrupted out of an A500 is just mindblowing.

one of the most greatest techno show
I can't say I liked it that much now. Clearly some ideas are borrowed from here in the demos of later epoch.

What a great classic demo! Rave time!
Amazing prod! Me gusta!
Not total and utter garbage - just not good as a demo. Effects were very subpar even in 1992, and although difficult to sit through nowadays, the music has its merits and strong parts. The production as a whole has some taste and entertainment value.
I can enjoy it once every ten to twenty years.

I see some interesting similarities with "Ooh Crikey Wot A Scorcher": "Zonk" by TLB, 1991 from the Atari ST
