Of course it's amazing, but I still prefer State of the Art...
Yeah, it rocks, but i also prefer State of the Art.
jees, great demo. second 'like a videoclip' demo from spaceballs. great music+design. gooOd!
this one still rules...and is better than state of the art imho :)
design wise, and music wise, 9fingers is better than state of the art :)
For some reason I prefer also State of the Art (Because perhaps I like more, the 1 color dancing figures, than these ones?)
I like also the textured cube with the eye (Actually it is not exactly texture map, it's easier, I know the logic ;)

Hard to be better than SOTA.
State Of The Art is better for me because 9 fingers had a medium music, and we see too much details on the characters, there is not the poesie and the imagination StateOfTheArt have.
Colors is not 70's like SOTA, we must compare this two demos, because they came from the same group, because they are in the same style.
a must view.

hm, this was maybe the most urgent "INSERT DISK 2!" command I ever got from my Amiga... and I remember swapping the disks in less than two seconds, only to make sure that i don't miss anything. A must see, indeed.
And to join the discussion, I like both SOTA and this one :)

...and the 9 FINGERS left as well :)
...and the 9 FINGERS left as well :)
Bloody brilliant classic. Astro really gutted me when he showed this on his A500 and asked if the PC scene had anything as cool as that (which it didn't at the time) =)
i hate it, the music is shit, the dancing girls annoy me, it's even worse than sota :/
far from being as cool as state of the art but still a classic.
Thumbs for the idea of squeezing all this stuff on the amiga!
this remember me the time when i was launching this demo every morning just at wake up , giving me strong energy for the whole day :)
What to say? Perfect maybe? Get it asap!!!!
The music and the dancing moves (especially the one of the girl in front of the yellow background) are absolutely A M A Z I N G!!!!
Comparing this to SOTA?
9F's colorschemes are obviously better, the music is less crappy, but somehow I end up liking SOTA more than this. Both were very impressive when I saw them for the first time.

A classic Amiga demo, a brilliant idea (code-wise), a highly underrated prod here in pouet and a definate thumbs up...
OCS-Powa
Ok yeah, SOTA was the original but this one is cool too. A worthy sequel to a great demo.
Rocks!
Even better than SOTA.
okay, okay. it roxx.
still why eveyone (including me) prefer SOTA?
thumb UP §
i prefer sota too, probably the blue colorscheme from state of the art was more appealing to me. =)
9 FINGERS IS ONE GREAT PROD ANYWAY.
9 FINGERS IS ONE GREAT PROD ANYWAY.
Well, State of the Art was first, perhaps that's why people prefer it. Anyways 9 Fingers has much more to offer and I like the style better.
Both are good demos, anyways. Blasting examples of what you could do with A500.

ofcourse the greatest demo on a500, but I liked the music of sota better...
TRAVOLTA I WANT TO HAVE YOUR LOVEBABY
TRAVOLTA I WANT TO HAVE YOUR LOVEBABY
Good, but in my opinion SOTA was a lot better (this is more or less the same effects, so it gets slightly less interesting :-) ).
just perfect
heh, this was shown last night on the big screen at Asm'02. And I sure loved it.
i think this and sota are both equally superior demos.
TotalScheisse!
Nein.. Das iss ja wirklich cool.
Nein.. Das iss ja wirklich cool.
both sota and nine fingers are f***ing good demos, albeit using the same technique. the soundtracks to both demos are really spanking and kicks the ass out of anything else on the scene at the present time. amiga forever!
Now this is good!
When I showed these Spaceballs demos to my neighbour he thought I had hooked up the VCR to the TV instead, and was playing videoclips :)
He couldn't belive it was my classic Miggy :)

Nice piece of art! The music is ok, the design is good, but it can't even come close to compare with State of the art.
i always preferred the music of 9F over SOTA, but as a whole i like SOTA more.
Classic stuff.
Sequel to "State of the Art".
Sequel to "State of the Art".
can remember the first time i saw this. smacked me right in the face! killer!
the code might not be totally brainblasting, but the rest certainly is!
the code might not be totally brainblasting, but the rest certainly is!
Superduper flow.
Although I prefer SOTA, this one deserves a rulez too :)
travolta
I wasn't that impressed by this one, SOTA is imo much better.
Technicaly it rocks, but I think that the SOTA is more powerfull. Hate these Kanji characters that seems to be here to only allow loading and unpacking.
vote. and travolta si teh rocks.
vote. and travolta si teh rocks.
What? Havnt' i commented this already? Here's my thumb.

!
I'd heard Travolta's mod before actually seeing the demo, and the tune set my expectations really high... it's still one of my favorites, and I played it ceaselessly when I first ran across it. Upon finally seeing the demo a few weeks later, I was happy with what I saw, although I felt that SOTA just flowed and looked better. Might have to do with the somewhat drab color scheme, and the plain white Japanese characters and single-color flower zoom effect kinda seemed rushed/cheap in comparison to the techniques being used on the dancing sequences. I also liked the loader graphic in SOTA better as well. Still, 9 Fingers is a great demo with a stellar soundtrack, and definitely deserving of a:
a total rip-off of their own demo... ;) this was actually a big dissapointment at TP'93. people were like "wtf is this? is this a joke?"... but, still ok.
Nice work , but without any improvements (code/gfx...) concerning Sota , i will agree with VindicatioN Sota is better.
Am I the only one who thinks this is better than state of the art? Additional bitplanes to the dancers and the introduction of the legendary vector tracer routine which did the job that major asshole (I think) had to do in sota. rulz0r
yep, better than SOTA is what i think too.
(exept the music)
(exept the music)
SOTA was more "aggressive" than this I guess, more "driving". Guess that's why I like that more :D
No ! this one is far better. Passing from 1 bitplane to 3 (for the dancing polygons) was such a chalenge: improvement of an engine that was already unbelievable with sota !! And you all think about the tracer, but what about the obviously private "animation packer", which code is not in this demo but which has 15 years in advance ?
not commented this yet? this is great, maybe better than SOTA, but who cares it really?
both rocks!
both rocks!
Well, it looks better than SOTA, but SOTA was ground-breaking. Still, this is a nice improvement, they could just as well have been lazy, sticking straight to the SOTA effects for the sequel, but at least they didn't do that.
Of course it rulez.
Of course it rulez.
Classic.
I still prefer SOTA although that one also kicked ass.
Looks like a mix of State of the Art and gomen nasai
not so good as sota, but still very good :)
what dominei said!
didnt like it. this is anoying somehow. dont know why.
The first deserving coup de couer for a long time!
The clothes of this dancing girl are really *really* ugly!
for the record, everybody had ugly clothes in 1993. and some even wear them these days.
Fresh!
Safe!
Dope!
Word!
east 17.!! :D and kris kross!!! I always ask hiphoppers... are you a true hiphopper??.. yes..? why dont you wear them phocking baggies on backwards then you worthless prune!
Ehehe, i like East 17! BTW, 9 Fingers is IMHO one of the best production for OCS Amigas...and the music is unbelievable...Travolta rules bigtime...
kickass legendary demo (v2 :)
enjoyable shit for sure.
Classic amiga prod. This was pretty amazing, but sota had more of an impact on me, cause it was totally fresh. This was just more of the same... much more, but still just more :)
spacebaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalls
Demo is good!
E17 are bad!
Kriss Kross "jump" is a fucking amazing piece of shit!

Great stuff by Spaceballs!!
Such a classical Amiga demo as Pouets' coup du coeur? THIS ROCKS!!!
Yes, really. We partyvisitors at TP were not very fascinated after this demo has been shown, that's true! BUT: The tune is amazing and it's still a very, very, very good demo! I prefer SOTA but who cares...

I love the random thing in this demo
now a topic-related picture-post, for a change... =)
Harrr, actually I missed this one until just now. Cool stuff. Had a jolly old chuckle at the dance-moves, haha. I guess it was the way to bust a move back then. Dip, nice scan! ;)
Great music, great ideas, great execution. I am entertained. A true classic!
YES !
yup
yes.
kickass!!
By the way, who can name all the tunes ripped into the soundtrack? The first part is straight outta Sven Väth: Ritual Of Life (Tribal Acid Mix), but I don't know/remember the rest..
Anyway, the demo - as well as the module - still rules. Back then it was a disappointment, especially among the other great TP93 releases.. but nowadays I personally prefer 9F to SotA.

i have nothing to say about this. NOTHING I TELL YOU!
9 fingers should be enough for everyone

alright, seeing this release on here and seeing the posts made me register. this brings me wayyy back *nostalgia* fo shure! i hope to bump into some peeps from "back in the day"..... very nice indeed! now to go comment on some other classics... :)
i like sota better... alot..
Btw, that disk label is SO goatse.
one of the best and most underrated demo on amiga...
of course it's just a new clone of state of the art, but i think that demo is really good too :)

yeah
ohohoh this is a big fish!
Ok, but nothing special, this could be done even on C64... :D

S O U N D!
I was quite astonished when I saw it the first time.
Yes.
One more finger for this demo.
I think best amiga demo in oldskool.
good idea.
good music.
good scene.
good idea.
good music.
good scene.
yeah!
Another Spaceballs classic.
yes this is really nice. a kickass thing at its time
Didn't like it that much.
Its good too, but I prefer "state of the art".
Not as good as State of the Art... but still very cool.
How come the party that i went to could produce so many classics? :) One of the most original and spoken idea of it's time. This one is good, no question about it.. I'll give it 10 fingers..
fr-025: the.popular.demo by farbrausch
Demos are demos, not musicvideos.. Can't we see enough of these on tv and other media?

haha I second Phoenix :D
Except that this one had something not seen before (albeit an improved version of their earlier video-to-precalc-vector demo).. One can hardly say the same about Fr-025's hypnoglow and walking/dancing characters. ;)
I personally liked both of the demos in question though.
I personally liked both of the demos in question though.
Not a bad demo but not good enough for my thumb. :)
Both thumbs up, wish i had more :)
top 10 amiga demo
music television shite, but still super entertaining.
Great :)
A bit disappointing at tp3 demo-show but great anyway...

9 fingers from them ... and only the thumb up from me ^^
great music, super flow :)
I loved this demo when it came out!
9 Fingers has better music, better gfx, better design, better dancing, and cuter girls than SOTA.
Compared to 9 Fingers, SOTA feels a bit repetitive and plain, as good as it is though.

I didn't belive that amiga produce such graphics back then :D
btw do we have something like SOTA/9 fingers on ST?

atari sucks
classic. and i really dig that rave-organ-303-909-style.
Rulez.
oops I forgot to vote this piece...
mtv style
I don't like it
thumb up for a 1993 produkt here.
Nice vusials! but not my cup of tea! but great demo anyway!
great
You can't see this on MTV! ;)
state of the art and symbolia are much better imo
Hated it then, totally indifferent to it now.
I prefer "State of the Art" personally as a demo whic changed the view of the scene and Amiga as a machine. This one is simply nothing special for me (even if the authors surely worked very hard over this one).
i've seen it long time ago. this is was cool
I'm more fond of State of the Art, but this is cool too!
Great demo, you can get the music for this demo here btw http://www.amigamusic.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=76&lid=4633&ttitle=Spaceballs_-_9_Fingers_(1993)
I think it was the first AMIGA Demo I have ever seen. It is a really special type of Demo totally untypical compared to PC demos of the same time. Originally I didn’t like it that much, but today looking back I would say it is a pretty good Demo. Thumb up!
music, 3Ds, models dancing, effects
just doesn't do it for me like SOTA. neither the track, nor the smoother gfx do it for me. It's a lot of work but to me just lacks the punch of the 1st one
sota enhanced. great
Not as good as State of the Art, but quite nice nevertheless.
Just some ugly video.
epoch-making
Thats ALL!
Best of Classix
Thats ALL!
Best of Classix
This hasn't aged one bit.
i still don´t really like this style of demos, but for me it is much better than "State of the Art)
interesting to see 1993 clothing fashion again, i remember to have worn those hip checkered shirts back then as well.. erm.. nice demo ;)
flashlike smiling flashbacks.
Here is my finger up!
I don't like this. Loader part is some gibberish japanese. Also, these realtime video vectorizing sucks. SOTA is better.
what TOM_PC said: SOTA is better.
But i really love this, thumb up!
But i really love this, thumb up!
Okayish demo.
Me likey!
me like too...!
Added the youtube's making of.
Haha, the making of is nice :) Interesting that the chicks were dancing to this 2 Unlimited "Tribal Dance" crap ;D
I love the soundtrack on this one, its probably one of my top 3 favourite Amiga tunes.
The 'making of' video is very interesting background material. I wonder, is the dark haired dancer in this video the same one pictured in the 'SOTA - The Dancer' article here http://spaceballs.untergrund.net/dancer.html ?

shit was SO cash
The making of is better than the demo or at least it's funny.
Oink-oink... I prefer State of the Art over this one.
Saw it at Tekniska Mussét :)
State of the Art was ofc better, but this one was also cool.
great prod !
SOTA was better for me, maybe because the follow up didn't have the same 'wow' factor (that's the problem with sequels in general). That said it's still a great production.
when i got it back then, i watched it, ripped the tune and copied some other stuff over the disk to send it to another contact...been very disappointed.
still prefer SOTA, but also like to watch this one from time to time nowadays.
Travolta rulez !

.
omfg, horrible fashion
Wow! It's nice that rendered video in that demo... and with that soundtrack!!!
Pure techno rave!!

Great AMiGA style!
The REAL popular demo.

unique prod! brilliance work!!

Original video of dancing girl - Dance With Me
Rules.
One of my all time favourites. Also one of the first demos I ever saw... It really opened my eyes.
wuuhuu...no thump yet? the 2nd demo i've seen
Wow, i forgot to vote on this, too. There is no other possibility than voting this thumbs up!
Still awesome today!
Wtf, no thumb yet? Here it goes, for awesome music and incredible gfx!
Classic!
Just saw to making of on youtube... Hahahaha. You made my day!
Love it!
nice nice
I never liked it.
I see this as a natural follow-up to SOTA. They both complete each other, like the two sides of a great vinyl single.
Never liked it too much...
Even if technically better than its predecessor "State of the Art", did not have such a big influence and impact than the latter one.

Only Amiga makes it possible
Classic! Look at link given by iTeC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNYW9pxu5ks&feature=related
Eh. I like it, but relies perhaps a little too much on video?
It's okay but not as fresh as the first one.
Not so memorable as SOTA, but still nice to watch

Timeless techno chicks ruling the A500. Ranked 3rd on the "One fine day I'll port that to my Atari XL" list.
Liked it MUCH better than State of the Art.
awesome ;-)
yes
yes
Even more partyyyyyy....
rulez! :)
Rulez
Cool! :)
Let's Dance ! :D
20+ old thumb up.
Bloody brilliant in every aspect. An awesome followup to SOTA.
I was a die hard Amiga fanatic back then, and The Party 1993 was perhaps the coolest amiga demo compo ever held. 9 Fingers blew me away, as did several other demos in the same compo.
I kinda see this demo as LoneStarr and the other crew of Spaceballs immortalizing some of their friends in a digital video art piece.

Oldskool thumb up.
Well, vector animation started in 1991, a couple of groups used it.
Lonestarr did it then too in Wayfarer but it was sort of not the main effect of the demo, and they did a story around it.
This is more like Coma/Rebels when it comes to flashing unrelated animations together and having crappy music :P
I simply don't have a thing for animation player demos, something that has surfaced again last few years, but at the time this required more effort so I can't thumb it down.

This one works as a follow-up to SOTA, but it didn't have as much of an impact and I have to say I still prefer SOTA in almost every aspect.
still rules
i was at the party and nice seeing this demo on the big screen
nice but not state of the art
How come I didn't yet ... well here it is !
SOTA is still a much better demo, but the music in 9Fingers, wow! Kickass job, Travolta!
I don't have anything against "animation player demos" (and did one myself :-). this one is technically brilliant due to the super impressive image processing tools used to generate the greyscale anims. The actual demo not too interesting to me
Pure animation demo! :-)
And now one of the classic demos of 90ies.
And now one of the classic demos of 90ies.
hehe....Animation but for the first steeps this is a good thing I think...
Classics require thumbs!
Take this finger:
Nice demo
What Hannibal said. At the time of production, Lonestarr had created a vector tracer working with more than just a single shade. Worked well and i believe he sold the technology/encoder for quite a lot of money at the time.
nice show on OCS amiga!
What Hannibal said.
One of my favorite demo soundtracks of all time.
Never really did all that much to me compared to SOTA. More of the same except doesn't convey nearly the same amount of energy. Also the track is substantially worse imo. Mild thumb up though for the short bit of interesting vector quantization at the end (green flashing stuff).
Always preferred this one much more than SOTA. This one had so much better tech behind it (more novel, less novelty IMHO).
The TP 1993, Lonestarr showed me his traced anim player also running on an A1200, using (if I recall correctly), 2 bitplanes for blue, and 3 each for green and red, effectively creating full colour vector "video". It looked awesome at the time :)

Classic one.
Classic thumb.
One of my favourite demos ever, all my 8 fingers and 2 thumbs up :D
Still Awesome - Love it.
Good animplayer tech and dancing norwegian chicks in lumberjack shirts save it from a thumb.
Classic! Interestingly Travolta released a tune on Spotify recently under the name Svenlandia called “367 dreams”. It has c64 instruments mixed with modern sounds. Quite cool
This is ultra classic and I like this over SOTA better. Sexier dancers on the screen.
another missing thumb up...
I came on DVD.
this is better than state of the art, better music, better visuals
