YES!
A bit to the long side, and I spot the same effects several times when re-watching, but damn, that music and style!

DOPE. AS. FUCK.
Impeccable style, once again. And those colours.. RIP monochrome bullshit 2017-2018
exactly what fizzer said.
instant design thumb
So massive polished visuals with perfectly fitting music. Outstanding guys, just outstanding. Instant winner of best demo of 2018.
Beautiful and bouncy! Love the colour palette and the lighting in many "dancing" scenes. I could have done without the crop though :P
Whoa. How are the rest of us supposed to compete with that?
This is criminally good.
This is criminally good.
Love it so much. The fact that you brought so much colour this time... Really refreshing, still having your signature style. Deserved winner.
This is beyond everything. Enough content for multiple demos. How long did it take to make this?!
So much nice content. Want to see a behind the scenes on this "one".
Blown away!
There is such an insane amount of content here it's hard to understand. Can I ask how long it took to make this?
So good! That soundtrack man
Brutal. Not a single pixel of this is in the wrong place.
This will stand tall for a very long time. Holy shit.
Wait, is that a bit from Eyegaboom I hear in one part of the soundtrack? :D
++ first half, visually and musically. just wow.
+ 2nd half visually
- 2nd half musically
the whole thing is great but felt a bit like the previous releases. but i'm nitpicking here, it obviously deserves a thumb and sets a good example for other groups.
damn i should really get myself to try Notch

One word: colors.
I want to sit with a microscope and analyze every frame =)
Woooh! Maybe the coolest demo ever!
absolutely amazing, so much content, love those colors and animals!
hm, somehow gives me nothing.
i never liked framed demos that much.

F'king ace as usual from destop, but maybe a tad too long. Music didnt move me much, but it suited the movement, the visuals are pure orgasmic stuff! Ive seen some of these type logos in past but they didnt animate hehe.
yeah I think there is part of eyekabo0om in the soundtrack :)

masterpiece
Nice little easter egg, only noticed it on my 3rd watching :)
I am of the scientific opinion that this demo is very good.
brillant ♥
Holy mother of God. This is my new favourite CNCD/FLT demo.
At first I wanted to say that I wish there was more of it, but I realise, upon reflection, that there is way too much of it as it is.
Dense, cryptic, inspirational and dangerously sexy.
I'll be watching this frame by frame.

Gloom: I don't doubt that for a second, one more reason for re-watches :)
Awesome!
Beautiful but drawn out for too long. Still a solid thumb for not boring the pants off of me like ASD managed to do.
Rendering fidelity is through the roof—if you wanted to show off Notch, you definitely succeeded. :-) 10/10 for graphics, modelling, just… stuff.
But I don't understand where it wants to take me. I can maybe read it as a bunch of references to the rest of the demoscene, and then CNCD/FLT is “number one”—there's a lot of stuff in there that seems to be references to other demo groups and/or earlier demos (some of them from Assembly, some of them possibly from CNCD/FLT themselves), and the demoscene has always been about one-uppance. But overall, it leaves me a bit confused.
That said: This is obviously a killer demo. Congrats on a well deserved win.

The amount of content in there is bonkers.
It's the first demo I've seen that captures that "showreel" feel that's compressed from decades of work of design studios.
This has to be my favorite demo in the past couple years, and that's saying a lot considering that I usually find the CNCD/Flt style a bit much.

Fairlight/CNCD has discovered design.
Easily the best demo of 2018.
The quality and style for visuals and audio is outstanding.

Whole demoscene can officialy go retire now. I don't even know what to say anymore :O
Massive.. trully massive demo! Attention to detail all over the place, in your face design, fantastic soundtrack, a myriad homages to other demos and groups and self-references. A trully worthy winner.
What's even more important is that it participated in a very strong competition with excellent prods.. and here's to hoping that it will convince both dormant and new sceners to step up and make future compos as exciting (if not more) as this one was.

Awesome! Mind blown!
Would you do a documentary / an article on the making of? Would love to peek into the process.

A thumb worth breaking a few years of pouet radio silence for :)
Techwise similar to what I've come to expect at this level, but that combined with unprecedented levels of design, polish and attention to detail makes this probably the best high-end demoscene prod I've seen to date.

Awesome!
Sublime
check it.
this was pretty on point!
Not my fave from compo but stunning work, great colours now! Good track too.
wicked
super
Excellent style all way through! Each scene could be extracted and made to it's own demo and they'd all win.
top- notch design, great colours, nice music.
top notch!
Wow, I'm left speechless.
I loved everything about this... So good.
Just one word... HUGE !
Oh deer god, the carbon monoxide level is critical in this One! Also, I heard a tiny reference to the Kevin demo in the soundtrack. I would like to see a "making of"-article
dope af
Awesome!!!
In a class of it's own really. Pixel perfection, love the style, dripping with coolness, and iced with breaks as cold as the North Pole. Damn I <3 this.
If this is "Number One", I can't fk'n wait for "Number Two"! :)

Last time I had the similar feeling was for « inside » / cncd. Insane work. Wonderful in every sense of the word. Demo scene is not dead.
holy shit! that was great! this demo it's what i waiting for soooo long
.best demo 2018.
.best demo 2018.
If we had a mid 90s Luc Besson movie whose plot is playing in future I‘m sure he would pick this as future demo example. Amazing.
I had real problems deciding between this one and ASD, but the direction of this one was just too spot on.
a'ssum.
oO
Rocks.
So much to explore and grasp as a viewer in terms of style and details.

seems we have to compile a list :D the sound of debris by FR when the obvious shopping cart with the amigaball rolls in. and i see "the wind under my wings" by ASD.
What a beauty!
Awesome track by Gloom!

the horn (sokia) at the end
Absolutely massive.
Everything's on absolute excellence. Definitely my most fave demo ever
Wow, only watched it twice so far but this already became one of my all-time favorites! A piece of art.
The new standard in demo design.
Just awesome!
Style and attitude.
Top- notch.
Nr,1 indeed.. <3
top notch! but ASD should have won ;-)
Wow, CNCD/FLT have discovered colors! :)
I'm relieved it at least runs on my GTX 970.. eats the 4 GB VRAM and 16 GB RAM pretty fast though.

Coherence of style, colour grading, generative graffiti typography and the crispiest visuals and transitions all sequenced in a world class tool makes this a modern classic!
spectacular
This has the mark of Desktop all over it
Great
Incredible work, design and massive track.
Also I bet we'll have to watch it frame by frame to see all the fun texts hidden everywhere :)
and COLORS! colors EVERYWHERE! (and controlled).

liked everything but the rapping (but that's so imo), good stuff.
Awesome style! To slow on my pc. The video was beautiful well done! :)
So this was made with that Minecraft guy.
Insanely nice!

DESTOP ICH WILL EIN KIND VON DIR! ;)
This rockz hard .. obviously we need new compos: pros and amateurs ..that's the bar hanging so high, amateurs like me will never ever have a chance to compete, can't stop crying ..
Fizzer said it all
Nothing in this prod really won my heart.
Technically great, but feels like a Notch demoreel.
Especially after glimpsing that "you are target market" text. ;)

Very well made but not my cup of tea.
What. The. Fuck. Was. That ????!!!!! AWESOME !
So much style :O
Wow. This amount of content could have filled about seven decent demos.
so colourful, an insane level of attention to detail, almost spot on direction.
it did have some severe framerate issues on a high-end nvidia gpu, though (albeit running on an ultrawide monitor, extra props for supporting that properly!) - mainly around the shopping cart scene

Fuck me
fantastic.
'ssom!
what the fuck i've just seen?!
The amount of stellar content is staggering. I just wish it spoke.
2Destop: you've added red color :)
this is what I wanted to see from Fairlight/CNCD for years and finally you made this very complex and polished thing, it definitely will inspire others to do better demos.
Would be cool to know the story of making the demo and where the ideas came from. Would be great to see a video about that.

How long it took? Sun - fri (6 days)
I keep reading "evoke" instead of "one" on that logo... Anyways, pretty much what has been said before: Massive soundtrack, tons of detail and style, use of color. I particularly like how this is a prime example of a "demoscene art style" thing, being a genre in its own right.
I can also confirm that I didn't spot anything "Kevin" in there ;)

h0ly shit !
pure bomb
pure bomb
Hypnotic colors.
This is a brilliant piece of work. The presentation and touches are of a highly professional level without sacrificing the beloved attitude that is common to the scene.
As a complete piece, it flows through different visually stunning parts a composition, color selection and design is spot on! The only annoyance was the rap part which feels a bit out of style.
All in all this is a demo that truly inspires me to continue to play with demos. Fanastic job!

technically impressive showreel of an ad company.
holy fucking design. this may be peak demoscene.

Pretty awesome really. Probably the best Fairlight/CNCD demo ever.
This is obviously mad, but it's starting to border on "too much" for my taste. But at the same time, holy hell :S
Shows two middle fingers to the demoscene

I'd guess that doesn't include putting together all those animated assets from scratch etc ;)
Fuck me.
AWESOME. Fairlight/CNCD brings their A-Game, and wins again. Not unexpected, but this demo certainly stands out as some of their finest work. This demo breaks new ground in its style and imagery and it sets the bar very high for those that come next.
ridiculously awesome style.
so. much. content.

Nice
Destop just went 'full Destop'. And 'full Mazor'. Same old stuff since 2007, however polished to the new levels. Really curious what'll come next as this pretty much sums up the 'notch' and 'cncd' styles in demoscene wikipedia :)
First: Very nice demo!
I made the same performance observations as cpdt. NV GF 1080, pretty low frame-rates at 1080p (~15 fps). This machine isn't exactly low end. There are also some massive drops in performance on some transitions.
What do I need to run this demo in real-time @ 1080p?
The shopping cart scene barely maintains 24 fps @ 720p - I'm guessing there's something else expensive going on. :)
Minor things: The resolution selector shows a "Monitor Aspect Ratio" of 4:3, while the thing clearly seems to be 16:9.

insanely good

a class of it's own, design-wise.
not sure if it works as an entity with the sound.

Killer demo and worthy winner! Style overload!
I am the target market for this!
GGGREEAT demo, I adore all the small details and humor. Music also kicks ass
A must see. This is the only thing that made me to think about something else than financial and political bullshits that my country struggles with. Unique design. Flawless Soundtrack.
Well deserved win: superb design, code, effects, top quality track and the polish of it all is one of a kind. Clear Number One of _2018_!
Colour graphics!
It's a showcase without depth and with some hot air. Reminds me of Skarla's massive (the voice being most distinct) which was also a over the top, the presentation had similarities. Some more depth and space, you could do much more with less. It's over-crowded with a predictable and slick design, there is little time to enjoy effects when the next is edited already in. In the end I did not like the style, so it is personal. For those you enjoy it, let it be so and enjoy!
Basically what everyone else said. Take some of the best people in every discipline, put them in a room, let them go wild, and BOOM, this happens. All the hats off.
Oh, it’s that same demo again! And with a bad music!
Nah.
Nah.
...I would like to see it without that overlay effect...and a bit to overload...still too great not to thumb it up :-)
Holy hell, that was massive! I love that style!
Crashes hard for me but is fine for all of you? I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Not particularly exotic hardware here - Win10 x64 1709 build 16299.547, GeForce 1080 (non Ti) driver 398.82 (released august 1st), CPU is a i7 4770.
It crashes with an access violation about 3/4 the way through the loading bar, tried with no sound with same result. The launcher only allows me to select a 4:3 aspect ratio which seems weird. If I run it in a window it blanks the whole screen before the crash.

Fuckin' design & direction!
Got the same problem as Insectecutor with a GTX 1060! Crashes hard!
as KK said. Its perfect in terms of design and music, but I can't say it is good demo. It is different type of art.
rad!
Excellent!
Dope as fuck.
As usual, massive props to everyone involved, the effort shines through. That said, as with recent cncdflt prods, it totally manages to be the polar opposite of what i like.
even if it's technically and design-wise brilliant it's a bit pointless and isn't really a demo for me. I know these things blend into each other these days but still I miss the demo spirit. I'm not sure about a thumb up really. on the other hand it deserves one for sure but my personal, very subjective feeling is still a piggy. thanks for the show though.
Thumb up for tech, art and direction. Thumb down for music which isn't my cup of tea at all and esp the rapping part ruins the demo for me. Thump up for lame drama regarding engine usage so overall weak thumb up.
The one thing I didn't expect was for smashtop to surmount an ASD megaprod, at Assembly of all places. "Justifiably" so? Barring personal taste factors either could've been a very deserved winner. What we have here is perhaps the ultimate tour de force of destop's aesthetics, and it works so well because the entire demo is shamelessly designed around small meticulously detailed and fine tuned vignettes. I think this is ultimately the reason it does so well; it simply plays to all the strengths of the team behind it and nothing more. Even the music—while being a bit forgettable and generic—works perfectly because it's carefully engineered just for this use case. You simply can't fault the implementation.
Of course technically there isn't much to complain either. The chrome distortion looks a bit too discreet (you can see the channel separation, lacking a smooth blend), but that's about it.
What you can do, however, is fault the concept itself. I'm not sure how I feel about the "commercial motion graphics" brand of demos (e.g. fluke, supermode, most ninjadev and destop demos). I think we've gotten to the point where we can do this well enough that it's starting to be difficult to distinguish in meaningful ways from the professionally made counterparts we're trying to emulate. It's made me realize I only liked this category because it was at the same time difficult to do but also somewhat attainable. But now that we are here it doesn't feel all that fulfilling to me, and I'm not sure I can get excited by something like this ever again.
(There's also the advertisement issue that left a bad taste in my mouth post-compo, but I think it's been for now resolved reasonably enough that I don't need to talk about it here.)

Fantastic design!!
Last time cncd + flt co-oped the only thing left for perfection i'd begged for were colours. Now I got them. Massive prod, great design. It only appears to be a bit soulless.
So I guess this is the first time CNCD/FLT beat ASD at Assembly! For the stats freaks, before this, ASD beat CNCD and/or FLT 5 times at Assembly. CNCD/FLT won Asm 3 other times (Frameranger, Spacecut, and Black & White Lies, as One Studio Off) when ASD was a no-show.
slideshow with outstanding music on a 1070 with 5820k in most scenes.
looks perfect on youtube though. music still outstanding :)

breaking bottles for 3 minutes never been so cathcy
Nice work
Hmm, it was OK. ASD's For Your Love was bettter IMO.
Sweet - Sokia with colors! :) Didn't touch me as much as For Your Love, but slick and polished design, and ace music.
Very cool design, nice filters and music!
!!
Massive! One of the best prods I've seen this year.
It's amazing but on the other hand it looks and feels like other cncd prods..
Btw time to do a 64kb now with notch? ;)

engaged with style. you should marry!

really dope stuff!
very fresh once again, as usually from fairlight!
The soundtrack is excellent on its own!

Slick all round, although I did kinda wish the soundtrack hadn't dropped into the Amen and just continued to roll out with that half-step (very minor).
ok, after watching Number One/ several dozens of times i can savely say this is pretty much on top of my list for demo of the decade.
all disciplines are at the top of their game. especially destop's style reaches new heights and fltcncd, just en passent, introduce their 3rd genre-defining-uber-effect.
thank you.

What Fiver said plus that massive soundtrack that kicked everyone's asses!!
No denying I'm an ASD fanboy, but the cohesion in this prod elevated it above previous CNCD/FLT prods and made it the clear frontrunner in this year's comp. The clever use of animals definitely played to my tastes too.
perfect in every way. lacking words.
absolute notch tour de force
I remember the time when CNCD/FLT demos had fun ideas and fresh effects lacked polish and struggled tying their scenes together in a coherent fashion. Fast-forward a decade or so, and they emerge as some of the most polished, well-directed, absolutely-fucking-impeccable pieces of art—that, of all things, suddenly start lacking novelty. What irony!
That's not to say it detracts from this demo in any meaningful way, however: Number One is fantastic, super fun to watch, so dense and detailed you could write a book on it. I could barely decide which one to vote #1 at the party between it and For Your Love, but was convinced by the title (j/k) and in retrospect am glad it won. Although numb res still occupies a special place in my heart for purely sentimental reasons, this is most certainly my favorite CNCD/FLT demo to date overall.

outch !!!
It's ok
Almost too much. No clue how you'd ever put such many different scenes & stuff together in one lifetime.
Holy shit.
Quite easily my favourite CNCD+FLT demo in a long time. Just too bad the demo fell a little flat towards the end.
I can't believe it is Notch demo, and this is demo at all. Kinda random'ish isn't my favourite style, but this one is completely clean. Also Gloom, you're rock, music is really my taste.
I think this will be in the "all-time top" really soon...
Absolutely amazing.
Absolutely amazing.
Jasna kurwa! I only remember being impressed that much... like... 18 years ago when FR-08 was "the thing". Flawless fucking victory!
Amazing. Love the music.
i don't stop watching this demo. Amazing and brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pull my would you ?
I love everything about this. Gorgeous and massive

amazing demo! - only sad that i can’t run it at all (i’m a gnulinux+osx user only), i only saw the video at youtube
incredibly polished and well done, the scene is dead because you are too good guys :D
Over the top in every departements !

This is so freaking professional! (and I don't mean that in the "boohoo they're using commercial tools"-sense)
I love it so much. Play the soundtrack in my car while going to work almost daily. Was the first part inspired by Howie Lee? Sounds like it. Favorite demo :)
Another stunning prod. Huge congrats
Thank you!
What noby and moozooh said.
Did I really forget to comment on this one until now?
It's amazingly good. The look, the sound, the flow... It's all right where it needs to be. Freaking great job, people!

omg, why i didnt saw this before. directly goes to my top 10
this is really breathtaking
A really REALLY Kickass PC Power Demonstration! Best 2018 Demo for the moment, Wow! ^^
I don't like this "demo". ASD "For love" deserved place 1 !

Watched this on real hardware, which is capable of running this in good framerate, for the first time. Oh. My. God! Looks so much more fresh compared to youtube :D Amazing!
I like it a lot (maybe except the rapping). One complaint though: can you disable screen saver while the demo is running? :)
Same comments regarding performance as above with my poor 1060.
Same comments regarding performance as above with my poor 1060.
The tone of numb res is more my speed but this probably the best produced flt demo yet, I love the consistency of it, it has no weak spots.
Un-fathomably choice,Demoscene stylee domination!
CNCD+FLT made new proper art: powerset( rulez )!!
CNCD+FLT made new proper art: powerset( rulez )!!
Same problem as some other here. Crash hard at 3/4 of loading. Seems windows had no more memory. I have a 1080 Ti + 16GB ram.
Last third of the prod is simply insane
Stunning. Top notch work!
dope.
10-20 FPS (R9 390), 6.6GiB VRAM usage
Classic never been so fresh, the visuals are orgasmic altho after the drop music certainly took me out of the immersion. I get the idea but to me the tone just doesn't fit.
Nice - I especially liked the metallic fabric.
super cool. who did the rapping?
The scene is back!
This makes me hard
Absolutely amazing and CDC tier!!!
The best ever!
I forgot to thumb this one up. Sorry.
got the same problem as Insectecutor, can only select 4:3 aspect, crashes while loading at around 80%. GTX Titan X 12GB VRAM, 8GB normal RAM (I know), i5 2500k
Maybe the most best FLT/CNCD-demo ever!
One of the best!!!
great job
But of course, wonderfully awesome.
nice.
I wondered why ASD was second on that party until I watched this. Total madness.
Dear Fairlight/CNCD.
Please could you make a demo that grinds my system to a complete halt for about 5 minutes of loading? Thanks!
On a serious note - it is brill!

Slider: yes, that is quite a commonly used loop.
And as what Ferris said:
See you later this year on the stage, let's see who is the real number one 8)

:D
unny fact: this demo is truly number one - but - not the first demo with a name "number one".
Design is nice but music is cringe.
Also dancing/running guys are cringe usually, including here.

This is what REAL demo looks like! So dope!!!
Even after watching this over a 100 times I still discover new details.
The demo that cannot be watched just once in one session, but must be watched minimum 3-4 times. I have the same thing with Insides
cool
woo-hah.
hell yea
What? No astronauts? Oh, I guess this was the 'deer head year' not the 'astronaut year'... ..nice prod anyway. personally don't care for the music tho...
Nothing to add but a thumb.
ROXX as a WHOLE PIECE. accidently watched in realtime.
Men of culture, it's truly demoporn. what a blast.
Strange that this one isn't even in the Top100 of all time.

The all-time top list is biased toward older prods, because Pouet usage was much higher well before this demo came out. But if you go back, say, 3000 days, it lands at #8. (behind, for some reason, MySQL Raytracer)

But there are relative newer prods in the Top100. So it's possible.
#40 TBL – Eon (2019)
#59 Mercury – Fermi Paradox (2016)
#63 Titan – Overdrive 2 (2017)
Brilliant!
sublime & awesome!
phoenix: MySQL Raytracer is high because it has so many views (Pouët popularity is essentially the average of vote rank and viewcount rank), which in turn is presumably because it's been linked to from external sites like Hacker News.
Woah...
so cool !
