Poetry without sounding pathetic

In my view, it was rather poor and lofty, but then again, I never really was a fan of scene poe-try.

Visuals and music were ok, but there was really nothing in it that amazed me (except for the long precalc time that is ;))

Hmm
Quite nice,
It had a couple of very nice scenes.

I'm not a fan of monochromatic graphics though, b&w would have pleased me a bit more.

zoomblur galore and some RGB colors here and there, but all in all it's even better (imho) than their first release, design-wise.
I'm afraid to see the next...

Don't reuse your synth sounds so blatantly ;)

Anyway, designwise it's awesome and really catches your attention and mood. And even scenepoetry with actual thoughts behind them. Wow. Oh, and only 54k :)

Coherent! Even if the colourscheme is a bit too rgbish.
Nice citation from 2001 a space odissey ;)

(hint for zoom: read the valis trilogy... it's actually very near to your intro's concept)

Ah well, looks great for an intro
added on the 2003-07-06 18:44:00 by ravity ravity
Very cool intro, altough it left me a feeling it's missing something (don't know what it is).

Music is decent, but either the synth still needs some developing, or the musician hasn't yet learned to use it properly, since the sound is kinda thin.

Still, I enjoyed this even more than Project Genesis.

excellent intro, cant fault it.. apart from the fact it crashes out my computer when it finished.

Yes, it's nice. But I felt two pixels in the lower left hand corner on the third scene seemed a bit out of place. They would've looked better on the upper right side. Honest.

i haven't seen any improvement since the last conspiracy release.. the objects were still a little so-so as compared to for example fr's generatives, the synth aswell as the music were a tad boring, and i missed some action. all i saw was abstract scenes floating by.. not sure if i saw any objects moving/morphing by themselves.

don't get me wrong, i still respect the effort, albeit a little less than the previous one. i'd suggest it's time to improve the synth and add some more action to your scenes.

Sure, the softsynth is not as good as kb's and the music does not push it to its limits. But this is just beautiful. I thought 'Project Genesis' was 'heavy' on the coding side, 'A place called Universe' shows alot more design (so I liked it better). Finally, it ran 'decently' on my P4, TNT2 Ultra.

"54k should be enough for every universe"
rulez added on the 2003-07-07 11:43:58 by moT moT
seems like conspiracy put the feedback received from project genesis in a good use. the intro is a clean show - it has the consistency that its predecessor lacked, the color scheme works very well and in overall there's lots of improvement on the design side. although from time to time the 'universe' seems a bit too slowpaced.
still, clearly among the best intros released in 2003.
rulez added on the 2003-07-07 11:48:18 by melw melw
another comment: don't listen to the people who say it's too slow paced. fast = cheap & easy. but this one gets the much harder slow pace just right.

neo: there are switches for res-select just read the infofile ;)

pan: I wasn't aware that I was citating from 2001 s. o., which line?

plek: you're right. the tools didn't change a bit(bugfixes only), since BoyC is busy writing aDDict2, the new editor. I just thought that I could meanwhile do a second one with the existing stuff. Since we did Project Genesis with that, this couldn't be so bad either ;)

Zest: sorry, there is a warning in the infofile, so blame yourself :D

Oh and it really makes me happy to see that ppl are comparing the mood to h7, as imho it's the best intro ever.

Once again a decent intro from Conspiracy, but i _have to_ thumb it down because some idiot once again made a big news about it...

What if every fucking group posted a news every fucking time they release something? Would there be any room for real news then?

RELEASING A DEMO OR INTRO IS NOT A FUCKING NEWS!

Bash me but i think that the release of a winning intro's final version is worth for a news. How else would you know about it? Looking up everyday all the prods for which you expect a final?
Believe me, if PG final hasn't been released, we wouldn't post a news for our new intro.

About the comments on the music, or mainly on the synth:
Synth-wise NOTHING changed compared to PG. Apart from a couple of fixes (PG had a NASTY memfault :), the synth is entirely the same, hence the similarity.
The reason? I was working on the ÜD-intro, and several other stuff, and Vincenzo got used to the old samplegen anyway.
I'm working on a new synth now, so hopefully we can use that next time.

Definitely a big step up from Project Genesis -- lovely to watch, and well put together. The only complaint I have is the music -- it's a bit dull, and the synthesizer/samplegenerator/whateverthey'reusing is not of the same quality as the rest of the intro. The poetry didn't strike me the way H7 did either, but that's a minor detail -- this is definitely a very solid prod. :-)

"another comment: don't listen to the people who say it's too slow paced. fast = cheap & easy. but this one gets the much harder slow pace just right. "

youre smoking crack, right? It is equally hard to do a fast paced demo that is good.
Even a good crew like mfx get the formula wrong, but have altso showed us exactly HOW cool, fast paced demo's can be made. Effectively putting a distance to anything ever released. (sorry had to comment on bs like that)

It's hard to do a DEMO that's good...
I agree the soundsynth wasn't up to the job, but I think Vincenzo did a great job with what he had. I'd like to hear a studio-version of that track, because it would probably rock.

it's a bit dull, and the synthesizer/samplegenerator/whateverthey'reusing is not of the same quality as the rest of the intro
sorry 'bout that. next time better :)

It is equally hard to do a fast paced demo that is good
I can only agree that, but tendencies show that slow, for some reason, seems to be more popular, which I find a bit of a pity since I prefer prods with a higher tempo, like 604.

I agree the soundsynth wasn't up to the job, but I think Vincenzo did a great job with what he had.
Indeed, after days of nagging, I managed to convince him not to put any arpeggios in there this time (you know how musicians are :)) Anyway, the new synth is better I think, let's see what he manages to pull out this time >;)

A little bit coder-colors but impresive. The soundsynth could be better but work fine.
I prefer this prod than Project Genesis :P
Good job :)

Even though some scenes look a bit like randomly thrown together abstract objects, they fit very well, and everything else in this intro (the music, the mood, the lyrics, the design and more) is really great, and that in just 54k!
The mentioned similarities with Heaven Seven are probably the music which sets up a similar mood and the lyrics that have more meaning than they appear to have at first.

By the way, towards the end, the frame rate drops below 7 FPS for a short time every two seconds. Strangely, once when I had anisotropic filtering enabled, this was not the case, but I was unable to reproduce it. Even more strangly, it is exactly the same with Project Genesis. I have a Radeon 8500/1.3 Ghz Athlon. Is there anyone who knows what may cause this problem?
rulez added on the 2004-02-10 22:46:19 by Mz Mz
Sounds weird. Do you have some app in the background enabled which starts after some time of desktop inactivity? (Not necessarily screensavers, more like anti-virus or monitoring softwares.) Both intros are pretty long and they also have a long precalculation time so they may lean into some timelimit of the system. We disabled the screensaver-thingy tho AFAIK.
added on the 2004-02-10 22:52:47 by Gargaj Gargaj
Well, the only program I am running in the background is Powerstrip. At 1024x768 the slowdown is so intense that it is more like a short, but great FPS boost every few seconds. It starts in the "love me" scene. In PG it starts with first scene on the ground of the planet. The only scenes from then on that run well are the first pipe scene, and the credits-landscape.
I also tested it on another computer, a P4 2.53Ghz, Radeon 8500, Win XP and the exact same problems occured. Since many people have XP, it is probably something with the graphic card, because I also use updated drivers. Is it possible that you are using a certain kind of rendering in these slow scenes which the Radeon 8500 is not able to handle well?
added on the 2004-02-12 01:33:21 by Mz Mz
Here is a video of our three intros, but it's on a temporary place and will be deleted within a month. (Yes we are aware that the music of beyond is shuttering a bit in the end :)

Music is good, grafics are nice, but no hard action. The last point can be seen as a good point. ;)
