ok this is something like insane
i'm the modeler of plastic group ...
and i'm really impressed...
and i'm really impressed...
nice shader stuff, but the depacking/precalculating time is awfull...
Very big thumb up for the modeler and for all the rest (cowdy crew of coders i see!).
And you have also the time to take a cofee while waiting the beginning.
And you have also the time to take a cofee while waiting the beginning.
OMG WTF!
doesn't start (athlon xp2600, 512mb, gf6600gt) but i've read the nfo so i'll be patient
holy fuck!
rgba rules!
Precalc took about 10 minutes I thinki, but DAMNED this is insane!
This is slow to precalc, buggy at times, music quality is abysmal. But this is really insane.
An attempt at analysis: the textures are easily generated. The models are pretty smooth; must be subdivs (hence compressible a lot). The animations are "rotate". The music is...
So why not 64k... But even then, this is insane :)

Congrats rgba, you did it again ;D
precalced in about 2 mins here, so no big deal... it's quite alright technically, but it's still just an object show as well as it's 'predeccessor'...
nice nice! :)
respect!
First of all - I didn't know anything about this. I received a mail yesterday at about 3:00 in the morning with this little intro. I was really shocked and touched :). After a while I started to think - How you guys did it? debevec's RGBE textures looks similar/ camera movements are (almost ???) the same. But the most interesting part - SH lighting coefficients are also there!! So I know why it took 4 minutes on my Athlon 3000 and ATI X850 to calculate :). I'm really really impressed. If You'll tell me that You calculated SH coeffs without using ATI_texture_float - then I'm even more impressed.
Here it is: "zbVj[kmesw" - You'll need it to finish the final - it's a password to final version's dat (zip) file. I think opening the data from demos can only bring good news - such as this :D
Congratulations!!
bonzaj/plastic

insane precalc! insane visuals! insanely cool!
oh my holy and outrageously fucking god
cute :)
Smack my bitch up! Wuppaaah...
oh my god.
oh yes - why it is titled 195/95/256 - what does the last number mean? :)
LOL. thx
so sick
To be honest, the first time I saw 195/95 I thought "this can be done in 64kb". Not that I could do it, but that someone could, and you did, congrats, the effort is worth a thumb up alone.
This was scary! Why not use a softsynth ( I pressume this is midi, atleast it sounds like that)? You have a couple of k's left and it would really improve the overall feel of this. The soft piano part in the middle sounded really strange! :)
btw.. for the next one.. we want a midi or something while loading, it really needs it ;)
bonzaj:
i bet their first attempt was to get it into 256 byte :)
i bet their first attempt was to get it into 256 byte :)
well i have to give it for the shading. the music is sometimes weird (and/or it bugs extremely much on syteesis machine) and i always like consistency in what i see, but still...
although i was hoping for more ass'es :(
although i was hoping for more ass'es :(
Incredible!
finally seen it! good stuff rgba!
time to work on your softsynth, pls! :)
time to work on your softsynth, pls! :)
someone please kkapture this.
bonzaj - the last number means that the intro could have been packed into 256 bytes, but they didn't have time to finish it before party ;)
You are sick. Respect for sickness.
this really amazed me. the visuals are impressive. last year's rgba intro was already great code-wise, but this one looks like a professional work: it only shows such features that are flawlessly realized.
pretty modelling, cool shaders, good code.
is that midi? it sounds terribly outtuned on some parts :-S
but for the rest... arghhhhhhh you're insane!!
congrats for all... a very cool port...
but for the rest... arghhhhhhh you're insane!!
congrats for all... a very cool port...
The music was painful, but the rest of it was pretty impressive.
This was just some 64k conversion from plastic demo, nothing new to see here expect long precalc.... just kidding I couldn't believe my eyes. How did you make all those models fit and that shading with just precalc, I hate you so much.
DOUBLE-WTF
Respect. This prod rockz...
WOW!!!!! Really impresive a t party place... rocks forever!
WTF! just incredible!
but the music sucks actually
but the music sucks actually
totally WTF
Props on this one.
Amazing even with 10 mins of precalc and 4-10 frames on my p4 2.4 FX5600 (at least it run, no video!)
music sucks, precalc sucks. but there's an insane amount of work in this. respect... really hard work.
Something goes wrong when the precalc is longer than the intro.
But like paradise this one is a pretty impressive work by RGBA.
But like paradise this one is a pretty impressive work by RGBA.
Funny thing, this one runs with a much better framerate then the Plastic demo on my PC.
Precalc time was a little boring. The rest is f*cking impressive. Congrats! ;)
A great achievement for only 57K, or whatever size it happened to be.
take this thumb as a gift of my appreciation and put it to the fullest use, my mental friends!
impressive yes, especially the 3d models, but i don't like waiting half a day to see one intro. I'll thumb up when you optimize the precalc 10 times faster for the final version ;)
q to rgba: is the lighting full PRT (like in plastic's demo), or just ambient occlusion? I get an impression that it's AO plus some shadow maps only.
This is really insane, run like crap at my work on this shitty Quadro card, but OMFG...
make this precalc faster and it will be show next week at scene event !
make this precalc faster and it will be show next week at scene event !
well, took ages to load, hang up at the end...
really nice ... after This way in 64 k .. plastic in 64 k .. Incredible anyway.. does someone want to port raw confessions in 4 k ?
this must be coming straight out of hell!
i'll just say one thing: you bastards. =)
although:
- all the "lit" stuff is black here (gffx 5700 quadtro.. lame card i know, but it should handle it, right? unless you handle floating point buffers a bit nastily?).
- the music. just.. no.
- come on, make a new prod instead. =) that would be a lot more interesting.
- the precalc is, if it's AO, way too slow for what it is. if it's SH, its quite respectable. :)

amazingly long load time, but amazing stuff once it loads. Music is good i think, but the synth definately needs work.
Oh, same card as smash here (quadro fx 1000) and it works fine.
Oh, same card as smash here (quadro fx 1000) and it works fine.
freaks!
.you .guys .are .insane (tm)
a boring precalc but a kick ass intro !!!
incredible
models are O_O
niccccce.. but the atmosphere noticeable yields to the original by plastic. i think its because of the music (musician did good job, i think its in the synthesizer : )
down with the sickness.
video?
rgba world domination!
WTF! awsome!
holy shit! msx is crap anyway
Hey guys just wait for the final version and you wll learn what the music is like :P
Not my kind of demo/intro (as Utopian told me at Euskal 13), but remaking onto intros is always c00l :)

OMFG ! music is ... hmm, well, detuned ^^
But the modelling and lighting is Ab.fab !! Is there a MASSIVE thumb up option on pouet ? :D

Doing my duty.
Everything I want to say has been said already.

iq rocks!!! very impresive work.
RGBA forever!!!
RGBA forever!!!
Nothing more to say, but i want to thumb up! :)
I watched it in the party place (and spying behind them) and I really love this one! Keep in the insane way! :D
rgba world domination...
rgba world domination...
Doesn't wanna start here... waiting for a fixed version :)
I give my thump up when the final version arrives ;-)
I wonder what I'd think of this as an intro if I'd never seen the demo? precalc wasn't too bad on my 1.8Ghz processor (about 3 minutes) - it was a little disconcerting when the progress bar went _backwards_ though :P
Anyway, very well done!
Anyway, very well done!
It was incredible to see it at the party, being followed soon by the original demo... Respects!
runs faster than 195/95 party version. but seriously, the load time is INSANE.
Brilliant. Just a shame that it wasn't completely finished. Entering the Assembly compo wouldn't have been a bad idea :)
Amazing work guys.
Amazing work guys.
Wow! Great exercise of compression and optimization! It magnifies similarity with the original demo! >10MB in 64KB? BEST!. Good work!
Wow, very pretty. Took forever to load on my Athlon 64 3200+. :(
whahahahahahaha
good work RGBA, Good Work!!
good work RGBA, Good Work!!
*mouth wide open*
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
what a killer
what a killer
average prod. nothing special in here. ;)))))
I'm confused here, I have to wait even longer to see a demo I barely watched to begin with? :)
I was blown away after 8 minutes of precalc.. ;)
OMG!
jawbreaking! jawbreaking!
jawbreaking! jawbreaking!
:P *pique sano* ?¿

wow, wow, wow, wow, AMAZING, PERFECT
stunning but music really sucked. no more words.
works much faster than original, iq, please teach plastic coders ;)

Extremely beautiful!
But the synth is really horrible! (or really buggy on my machine)
But the synth is really horrible! (or really buggy on my machine)
Can't rate just yet as can't view it ;p it seems to hang at around 75% of the precalc bar, and never moves from then on :/
precalc longer than the intro, no new content, music (?). but all in 64k, so it's a pigface.
extremly stunning 64k. tho the synth sounds rather like a 4k synth
Rulez because of size. But hey, the music was quite spoilt, wasn't it? Some notes out of tone and no kick in the more intensive part. Original music rulez.
All in all, great achievement and cool idea.
All in all, great achievement and cool idea.
TRIPLE-WTF :D
I prefer better music over faster precalc for the final :)

I can't run the demo because my shitty computer, but i had enough with the democompo projection :O
It seems that you also broke the fucking piano! :)
It seems that you also broke the fucking piano! :)
precalc is unreal.. the whole thing ran like shite.. .. would thumb down, but i guess coders can`t cater for everyone these days.
wow. truly amazing.
the amount of precalc really impressed me.
i didn't get to see the intro, though, because it crashed before the precalc was ready.
but the precalc was something worth waiting for. thumbs up for the progress bar!

7 minutes precalc here. I hope it's much less in the final version. I hadn't seen the plastic demo before seeing this. At the same day I downloaded the final version and later this intro without knowing about their connection. I was impressed by the intro after the long precalc time but later I had to run the plastic demo at home to get a deja-vu wtf feeling!
Jawl!
music was not my taste but nice rendering
it's demoscena! bravo!
Really impressed at partyplace :)
this is unbelievable.
the music was crap, the precalc was murder... but.. come on - this is great :)
I really don't like the original a lot but thumbs up for that great remake you roolz ;)
are....You....NUTZZZZ....!??! :-DDDD
Damn, guys...this is probably _the_ craziest idea of the year now!!! Pah...since beginning of the new century...!!! :-D
Really great...NO doubt!!
And it also features the world's _longest_ pre-calc I've ever seen I guess! ;-D Oh well...
Anyways...Can't wait for the FINAL of that one!
Please hurry up with that then, too! :-D
Bye,
Weasel
...simply incredible!!

This is just plain madness
BEATCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Superb rendering, tasty in style, visually awsome, a bit short maybe and loading time lets you enough time to have a good cup of coffee...! But damn, that's good.
Loads longer than it runs. But what a conversion! The rotating thingy one scene before the last is even better than the original. And it runs faster ;-) The music is a bit choppy here and there. But this in 64k is a great job!
Ups, seems I thumbed up.Haha, it was an instictive reaction =)
The video weighs almost 64 Mb. Shouldn't it be called 195/95/256*1024 :p
neh, amazing stuff. sound was terrible, that was too bad, and i didnt like the idea of making this 64k of a demo, even though im very impressed!
Looks really nice but the music is just horrible.
BAAAD MUSIC! but thumb up.
Impressive at party place! Although I didn't like too much the music/sound
If you can forget eight minutes of precalc (i think i could) and forget the buggy music (i could it) ... you can simple exclaim "ooohhhhhh!!!!!" ... but i prefer paradise! :D.
Regards mates!
Regards mates!
Mad precalc time, don't know if I have ever seen a demo with such a long precalc, I thought it had crashed for a while but I hung in there.
The scenes are breathtaking though I don't know if I could stand the precalc time to watch ovre and over again, still have this thumb :-)

yeah! Felt amazing on the bigscreen ;) I'm just waiting for your next 64k with an improved synth.
A very well deserved 1st place, an excellent demo and all in 64K, amazing.
Oops, thumbs up also *slaps hand*
soft nice and attractive one..addicted to Rgba guys
EXTREME-WTF
music hurts tho :)

takes an eternity to load, is as boring to watch as the original, the synth is crappy, but...
it's 64k and the graphics are as cool as the original!
no thumb -down or up

wow.. best rendering i ever saw in a 64kb.. good job
respect!
Perhaps, best 64kb for this year.
however, precalc time too slow.
(It got 20 minutes in my machine...)
it expects of final version.:)

great technology demo indeed. that's all.
loading takes insanely long. it's pretentious, but is never virtue.

I waited 7-8mins to receive only music but black screen? :(
anyone else receive this?
Does this demo need pixel shading 2.0? is it OpenGL? If so, Please be more specific in readme re: requirements.
winXP, AMD XP2000+CPU, 512RAM, Radeon9200..

second thumb up!
and a third
wee
Quite an improvement on the synth indeed, now you don't have to cover your ears anymore while watching this beauty :)
finally, FILTERS! :D
tip to jewoll: make sure your chords have a nice low range too, it sounded a bit too thin, just boost the same instrument 1-2 octaves lower so it sounds like a brass section.

review of final: wow.
second thumb! nice.. VERY nice
These guys are totally insane.
rulez again
Great work, here comes my second thumb :]
candytron 2 :))
Now the loadingtime/precalc time is acceptable it really rulez! bext 64 ever
minus its a copy not an original ;-)

holy shi...(drool).............................
my word! the calc doesnt take a month, more fps (~40) than original 195/95 (~25), and looks just as good! the only soft spot is that the synth sounds a little cheap, but the eye candy does away with that blemish.
all this on a XP3200+, 1GB, 9600XT 128MB (cat 5.11)

This is as boring as the original demo for obvious reasons. :) Anyway, thumb up for the effort of squeezing it into 64k.
the ballerina part plays at 2fps (radeon x800 pro).. the rest does not.
good improvement with the music.
good improvement with the music.
cream!!
Simply impressive. Nice everything! - except maybe for the last font, but who cares?
This is insane!

this proves us that 64k is enough for everyone.
Indeed.
Even now after watching this thing several times I still can't believe how they did it! Marvelous!
wow. thats some impressive shit!
indeed, this is impressive stuff.
good work mates

the final version rules.
very nice stuff !
I remember when I watched this the first time (with the long precalc time!) and it was like "wow they put that much in just 64 kilobytes!" :)
Rockz hard.
Absolutely massive.
AAA quality graphics.I favourite the some kind of Sub-surface scatting at the end.amazing.
I didn't thumb it? THE best 64k for me (just above heaven 7), maybe the best intro ever. Technical excellence, and beauty. So much packed in, but done as if its nothing.
This is awesome in terms of visual quality, amount of mesh data pushed into 64 kB, and sample quality. _However_, I didn't count a single effect (unless you count glow as an effect, or the occasional animation of an object); it's all just a flyby, and not a terribly well-executed one in terms of camera work IMNSHO. I wasn't horribly excited about the music either. Still, it runs very smoothly on my machine (even amd64 Linux port :-) ), and overall it's well worth a thumb.
mega. nice page about it too, iq
lovely ambient <3

amazing, iq. you simply are a fantastic effect programmer.
amazing ! nothing more to say....
Absolutely incredible!
nice visuals, nice shading, nice modeling... nice!
This is stunning. I love the original and the closeness to it is haunting. I thought you had gotten the original objects from Plastic first and based yours of them. The music... Symphonics in a softsynth (doesn't sound very midi but since the dancy middle part sounds less than good I guess it could be)... Blew my mind. Sounds awesome given how much space you use. Love! :D
YEAH ! plus what all others said :)
outstanding
Good graphics, but worst content and theme ever. As in, ever.
wtf
Fantastic
Thumb up tech wise but the music really ruins it. Still thanks to the effort its worth a thumb imo.
Doh... and here it is
awesome remake.
I miss this impressive intro. I like this version more than the original.
Doesn't currently run at Win7 x64 with ATI RADEON 5850. Crashes on precalc.
And Kaspersky insists on deleting it because it thinks it's a trojan ;)
But I know this prod, just forgot the tumbs up.

yup definately
Excellent remix! (but average music quality :/ )
Music is really the weakest point of this demo.
But the concept and result are jaw dropping.
