Enjoyable! I got some nice oldschool vibes from this due to the screen-framing and the classic logo presentation...maybe it looks a bit too sterile for it's own good regarding the fairytale theme. But all in all a good demo.

I like the magic carpet and the head scenes.
Nice music.

nice tunnel =)
rulez added on the 2008-09-28 03:26:52 by pera pera
Cool demo. Specially the greetings part.
The overlay seems to hurt more than it helps the demo.

agree with ham ! ^^ same are my favorites in this prod ... and the smoke thing...
fun to watch

good demo.
tunnel fx, greeting part are nice.
and good music.

In places a bit too "object floating centre screen". That said, it was full of quality code, graphics and sound. Music in places reminded me of chaos theory and the greets of fairlight demos. Both big compliments. I liked it and will watch again. Morphing logos were super cool.

soundtrack
hindukush remix

some samples taken from acid loops - world sounds

A really crisp and high quality looking prod, with some nice effects and a hint of oldschool...and an amazing soundtrack!

It all feels very consistent and well thought out.
rulez added on the 2008-09-28 09:37:14 by Wade Wade
Oh yeah, the morphing logos were class! Reminded me of the old Crionics effect, but more upto date.
added on the 2008-09-28 09:38:13 by Wade Wade
The demo includes some good scenes but all in all a bit messy. Especially the music is just terrible.

1001 nights with chromag? :)

very nice demo! Morphing, tunnels.. this is the Rebels I would like to see! Music is great, arabic atmosphere.. Thumb!
rulez added on the 2008-09-28 09:48:07 by magic magic
Mediocre effectshow with low coherency and some attempts to mimic FLT. Chromag saves it from thumb down.

Great.
rulez added on the 2008-09-28 10:48:51 by Buckethead Buckethead
First of all, i like the fact that it runs on "older" machines! (sc p4 2,5 ati9500) Thank you!
What i like else is the fact that it doesn't try to look like modern art with all the multiple layers and blurry-ness. It has a lot of nice effects, all well put together (i particularly liked the statue part with all the particles coming off the face). Nothing outstanding, but i have the feel that wasn't the intention at all. So its good! I would have loved it more, if the music had stayed true to the arabic atmosphere and not end up into some kind of electro-breakbeat (at least thats the feeling i had).
I like seeing the Rebels guys so productive. (Pasy is on a coding-spree i guess.)
So keep on working, i love to see more!
rulez added on the 2008-09-28 11:06:12 by CONS CONS
although inconsistent, this is the best rebels prod i've seen lately. i love the greets section and flying carpet and the soundtrack is facepunching goodness.
rulez added on the 2008-09-28 11:21:13 by bfx bfx
Well... quite mediocre like dixan said. Some graphics were low quality (like the city scene with default-opengl-gray colorscheme) and I didn't liked the music either. Still piggy.
added on the 2008-09-28 11:21:55 by masterm masterm
I really liked this, especially the genie in the lamp and the skull part.
rulez added on the 2008-09-28 11:28:53 by Shockwave Shockwave
something that I can actually run on my MacMini!! There are many thing in this prod that I really love. Kudos!
rulez added on the 2008-09-28 11:29:43 by neoneye neoneye
quite nice but nothing special. I think the scenes were mostly too empty, maybe adding some extras (particles/postproc fx/backgrounds) would make it look more finished.
added on the 2008-09-28 11:31:19 by shadez shadez
Crashes with an unhandled exception during the credits part.

visual stuff fits the oriental styled tune by chromag very well.
overall tunnel-parts reminded me of a certain 4k intro..

the model of the wonderlamp in the end was not nice imo.
the idea was.

Another Rebels demo, another OS X crash - how do you manage that??

MacBook Pro, C2D 2.2, 128MB GF8600, 4GB, OS X 10.5.5
added on the 2008-09-28 12:19:37 by evil evil
Not liked it as much as other rebels demo (the music? some glitches?) but there are still some effects and transitions in the usual rebels style here.

some cool effects, but no overall design.. Some parts were really slow (<20 fps) on radeon hd 4850. I suspect you don't use instancing on that many-cubes-part :)
added on the 2008-09-28 14:41:16 by Duckers Duckers
the skin from skull scene is very nice! but, sorry to say, somehow i´m getting weary of the design. not that it´s bad, i´ve just seen it too often lately.
added on the 2008-09-28 14:57:02 by pOWL pOWL
its alright, but it's style seems like it came straight from "late 90s demo design by numbers" - 2d over effects. sometimes it can still work, but in this neither the fx or the 2d are particularly inspiring.
music was pretty good though.
added on the 2008-09-28 15:22:55 by smash smash
The next big thing it may not be, but enjoyable it surely was.

Good demo :) I really like the graphics in the beginning <3 The scene with the skin flying off was also pretty sweet.

are you crazy? you'd better rip ideas from some old and forgotten demos, than from recent prods of flt and cns, so no one will notice it! other than that it is an ok prod.

The quieter parts are really nice, but in the middle the demo is way to stressful and hectic.

Runned perfectly (or almost) on my Macbook. Some problems with the sync tho, music ended before the visuals - first effects were displayed two times.

Seems a bit sloppy (and slow), but the music is nice (even though it shows that d'n'b isn't Chromag's usual style :). Some cool scenes, and some dull ones. Minor fuckings for the triangle-explosion (argh! more interesting shapes please!) :)

i liked the music.

as for the rest, not all bad, but some ideas/effects (all of them were old and done before, but that's not something i immediately feel is a bad thing) were done so poorly (the tunnel, the ribbons + grayscale city..)

liked that credits bitmap morph thingy though. looked cute.

piggie.

Nice tune, nice gfx, some good looking effects - but several boring, ugly and pointless bits ruin it for me. What Plek said, basicially.

it started very promising... then some ugly parts ruined it. It gets away from its main concept during the demo. Then finally, the last part caught the main concept again.

kinda 90s; structurally a typical megademo, imho, but none of the effects were really innovative. runs perfectly smooth on my nvidia 9300m though :D
chromag: soundtrack was cool and functional, it might have been even cooler if bd and sd were a little bit more punchy.
