crazy awesome!
lol! thumbs!
WTF?
Awesome, the faking of attribute blocks did it for me :D
rinsin'!
Excellent !
Pimptastic!
Massive thumbs up for the Ate Bit crew!
The 64kb scene is dead, it takes the ZX scene to revive it... for some minutes.
4 entries? Come on breakpoint.

Cool prod. And yeah, you have a point there about the pc 64ks :\
shanethewolf attack!
damned enjoyable.. maybe bp should merge 64k from any platform into one compo next year. :)
Forgot the thumb
Extremely cool and straight to the point. I actually had an idea of doing the same thing with MIPS since MIPS asm is fun to write, but this is doubleplusgood.
Now, I guess the PC scene has to retaliate :D

hilarious and perfectly executed
Excellent! \o/

totally awesome!
Thumbs up for the lol factor :)
Was a real pleasure to watch.. best entry in the compo in my opinion :D
Pure brilliance.
Quite funny :)
lolastic idea :D
ATE BIT DOMINATION
Guys, read that NFO. A custom software emulated spectrum houses the z80 code that is the backbone of this demo, it's not a shader, it is quite literally a pimped out spectrum emulator running this for genuine colour clash, awesome 2x AY music and kick ass effects. This is pure win. :D

100% style
damn great! i loved it!!!!
Epic win!
No doubt first time ever ZX Spectrum releated entry should win the compo!!!
No doubt first time ever ZX Spectrum releated entry should win the compo!!!
Pimped to the max!
This was truly amazing, especially in aspects of design and music! The 64k scene seems to be dead on Windows now, but maybe with help from other scenes it will survive :-) More, please!
funny
Awesome and funny!
=)
Totally awesome!
Very nice idea and one of the few productions that are actually as funny as intended!
I like this "crap". Hahaha =)
but why there's greet only to farbrausch? ;)
but why there's greet only to farbrausch? ;)
GREAT PROD!!!
That's not a greeting, that's a way to avoid a speeding ticket...
Great stuff, one of the funniest productions for a long long time.

Ized: heh when I saw Ate Bit change to Farbrausch I also thought "oh, are we going to be treated to the slowest and longest greetings part ever?" too :)
Hi to all ZX users! 8)

This one really rocks, and also runs flawlessly in wine/crossover
Über-ownage!
verrrrrry awesome :) nice job!
Lame.

cool
Great and funny! :)
If i could give this more than one thumb up, I would... Awesome :-)
funny demo with a nice concept. technically it's very insteresting too. but visuals and z-sorting of 3d bobs could have been better.
Kewl!
cool
Lots of great and funny ideas in this one here!
I has a thump for it!

Well deserved kick in the ass of the pc 64k scene :P
Very nice, Looks and sounds great!
respekt!
nice job indeed
Hahaha!
Triggers a virus warning for me (NOD32), but I guess it is caused by the exe-packer?
Oh. My. Goodness. Such amazing work <3
My next CDC.
My next CDC.
:)
OMG! !!!!! :D
Best demo ever! In my opinion, this beats The Popular Demo and Debris :D Space age pimpin'!!
Fuck yeah, baby!
i reeeeeally dig teh concept in this one.
Before reading the info file: "Oh, cute"
After reading the info file: "And insane too!"
After reading the info file: "And insane too!"
Very, very, very cool!
nice stuff :)
pwned by a bunch of ZX h4XX0rs xD The "conversation" was hysterical -> rulage!
Insane madness.
Funny, had the idea a while ago to do something like around a 6502 emulator, but discarded the idea has "just funny for me", but obviously I was wrong, it's great :)
Thumb up for the nice pimping idea !
Thumb up for the nice pimping idea !
sorry i hate this.
Pure pimp
thumbs up for the emulator thingie :-)
Intriguing concept, innovative, well done, funny to watch. Like it.
idea!!! concept!! execution!
(and z80 code winning a multi-ghz-x86 compo!)
(and z80 code winning a multi-ghz-x86 compo!)
For once! A good idea is absolutely well executed! Hurray for Ate Bit!
:D
he-he-he
laughed my ass off
no no and NO.
Not that it did not make me smile a bit... no because it should NOT have won.
Not that it did not make me smile a bit... no because it should NOT have won.
great! and fun, too!
I so very much adored this. It's awesome!
nice work :)
At last! a demo, not the usual boring crap.
great idea and very good realization!
bof...
Really funny, brillant and original concept and made me smile. A truly polished intro that deserved to win.... I m jokking
Fucking great. I love you guys! Seriously! :)
All in all nice idea and cool release.
But not a winner there.
But not a winner there.
now that was a good demo. Oozes with style.
To whoever did this (gasman?): congrats, you rock.
To whoever did this (gasman?): congrats, you rock.
well, rulz. proves that a concept can win over polished digital nothing (doesn't men that i didn't enjoyed invoke... :).
funny
My personal favourite at the Breakpoint 2008.
Nice retro design!
respect to the technical side, but i don't like the style.
respect the style, but lolrotfl to the technical side! (thumb up above)
loved it
Lovely concept and the way the did the coding on this demo makes it a pure winner.. Speccy scene is great..
Love it! Thank guys.. SPECTRUM!!!
Love it! Thank guys.. SPECTRUM!!!
This time I give only "OK".
First: it was possible to do all the stuff on Pentagon SL, Sprinter or another ZX Spectrum with turbo-mode.
Second: Actually most (all?) of these effect are possible to run on regular Spectrum 128K (well, maybe a bit slower but not necessarily).
I hope you will release full ZX Spectrum version of this programme. (There is an emulator of Sprinter btw. And Unreal Speccy emulates Pentagon SL).

What power of CPU would have it need on Spectrum? These computers mostly have about 7Mhz. ATM has 7Mhz, Pentagon SL too, as far as I know. This prog should work smoothly on ATM 7Mhz, 1024 KB RAM and classic TurboSound. SL has similar config, if I recall. Also Scorpion 256 should be enough. Not to mention our beloved monster - ZX Sprinter. Does the demo use more than 21Mhz of Z80? There are so many models to support.
Well, I'm just wondering anyway. The demo rocks. :)
Well, I'm just wondering anyway. The demo rocks. :)
yep :)
like a vw campervan with a fireplace installed! ON FUCKING FIRE! WORD!
please do not ever put Xzibit in a demo again. plz.
Brilliant idea, but only from ate bit...
The dialog thing was brilliant and kept the boredom away.
s0r: why? are you afraid of black people? I'm a big fan of x to the zx! Keep them rims rollin'! woop!
fun idea, fun intro.
Had me in hysterics. An amazing idea... maybe another "Most Original Concept" award will be coming atebit's way...
Really nice, one of my faves from the party, if not the best.
Alice claire!
Awesome...definitely one of the best from BP. Its got my vote for "Most Original Concept". What's next? Pimp my 3dfx?
Yerz: I think it requires a Sprinter. I hope you still have yours. :P
It's a nice idea but I didn't laugh
fucking awesome!
fo' shizzle!
Best party release. Period.
it's somehow uneasy that such an intro can win at breakpoint, even if that's not the author's fault. anyway, the prod is fun and including an emulator is a clever tech feature.
That was cool.
nice way to twist the 64k size
omg lolz
Totally awesome! The idea and execution is smart and creative. Hat off.
Useless rant: Now I am thinking it again I wonder how this intro placed first? Yes I do like the spectrum references, it made my smile, but there is something missing here. Maybe there isn't an in your face presentation, fast transitions/flow, or something that would make me love this one and like to watch it again. There are some effects with the spectrum rendering (not the first time an oldschool rendering applied on PC demo, nothing new here), and there are several moments the action stops and the clive talks to the pimp guy and you wait and you are bored, ..Continue ..Continue, ..yes continue. It doesn't have the impressive presentation nor the spectacular effects, maybe just the idea and the lovely AY music, but.. I think I liked the 2nd place much more :)
Ok,. sorry for useless rant, I stilll gave a thumb up in this one and it does deserve it but how come it has more than the 2nd place? Just the Spectrum reference or is there something more I miss..

story line wasn't that good tho ,
but all was good ^^b
but all was good ^^b
yeah! liked it a lot, and extra points for sticking to spectrum's audiovisual limitations in a pc prod :)
@optimus:
point is, it's a zx emu AND a demo in 64K.
point is, it's a zx emu AND a demo in 64K.
LOL! work behind , fun guys!
WTH! <3
r to the ox!
optimus, it came 1st due to the same reasons why masagin came 1st.
and nobody knows it.= :\
and nobody knows it.= :\
but i love this thing hard.
both thumbs up
really cool stuff.
í somehow recall that there would have been some other prod also with an emulator inside it released some years ago, but cant remember what it was. anyone knows what i might be talking about?

I'm sure there are a bunch of them.. For example, some years back we made this :)
As for actually serious prods, I haven't got a clue.
As for actually serious prods, I haven't got a clue.
Ugly colours, low res, cheap sound. Ate bit knows what we want :D
@ Navis: The demo is by Ate Bit (evilpaul, et al).
If it had been by gasman it would have been coded on a washing machine or a bus-stop display or something.

Awesome!
I like the style :)
lovely!
Give me Amiga nostalgia any day, but 8bit nostalgia does nothing for me so I can't appreciate this intro.
you might have won the battle but the war is not over ;)
Speccy rulez! 4eve! ))))))))
Hahaha, very interesting and most of all; very cool! ;)
Yeah haha, was really cool :D especially that speed camera numberplate. Not that i have anything against farbrausch :)
the jokes and the script were pretty bad... but this still rules of course
Funny and cool idea. But show me, don't tell me. Saying it's a emulator is all fine and dandy, but so what? Points for humor and theme, but just not visually impressive -- this was a PC compo after all.
SPEKKA always RULZZZ !!! ;)
nice idea and execution
Quote:
point is, it's a zx emu AND a demo in 64K.
What? Ok,. I just didn't know this (before I read the nfo file), so rules!
what everyone else said basically ;)
SOso, but the interaction was annoying. Nice music. Nice Back to the Future references. :P
pahaha great fun on the bigscreen, well executed and thought out, congrats pimp daddy paul :)
thumb up for the technique
prm: You never saw "pimp my ride" on mtv ? The jokes and the script is spot on: It's the same stuff than in the original tv show.
lol
didn't do it for me. surely pretty much fun to watch, but i'd have enjoyed it more in the real wild and on the zx. did not deserve to win.
It was moderately funny on the big screen but on the second look I think it didn't deserved to win. Invoke did a better job for me. Piggie.
Original and well executed o/
Without demos/intros like this competitions would be quite boring...
one of the best prods from breakpoint 08.
some of the pictures were very converterish. otherwise it was good.
Nice trip.
cool stuff.
lovin it
ni-i-ice! :)
Made me smile. Now waiting for Pimp My Commodore!
i´d like to see the guys gesticulate..
but this is real hot, like it is! ;)
but this is real hot, like it is! ;)
Pimp me beautiful! Original idea, flawlessly executed in my opinion...
kewl!
the spectrum scene is still a clive !
anyone who claims that making 8bit remakes on winpc is "original" deserves to be beaten to death with a sealhook
Serious stuff.
Made me laugh.
it was fun once. but there's absolutely no reason to watch it a second time, and it's impossible to judge how good or bad this is because it emulates some arbitrary hw that never even existed. for the kind of pc it requires to run the effects sure are bad. also, what havoc said.
still no thumb down because there isn't anything really bad about it either, but in my ranking this definitely wasn't first place material.

This was really entertaining at the compo.
good one.!
but compowinner.? i don´t know.!
64k is sleeping.!

cool
cool idea!
Funny ! (I see it in my TV ?)
first place material or not, the idea was cool and I enjoyed watching it
sad.
I enjoyed it (especially the music).
Hahah! The licence plate thing was awesome :P
Epic win =)
PC 64k scene just had their pants pulled down. And judging from the number of competing entries in this compo, they had it coming. Is 64k dead? Or is 4k the new 64k? I dunno.
Either way, this was a good idea totally brilliantly executed. A freakin Spectrum intro running on a pimped up _emulator_ in one single PC 64k? You don't get much more style than that.

me likes :) Speccy FTW!
Strange but cool!

the most fücking k00l demo of this gēr!
I've officially pimped my underwear, again.
Great! :)
Nice stuff! Original idea!
Wow! Really interesting!
This is the real pimping! :D
Another episode soon...? :D

music or video plz? with lots of sugar on top...
...ahh, well. stupid me. ;)
Thanks!
Thanks!
make it on zx
@johny: xD please read the nfo and get surprised :D
The next biggest thing: Fabrausch-esque procedural demos on Spectrum!
hehehe
funny
kinda...impressive oO
Ate bits - and they were tasty (though a bit cheesy)
what a great demo, excellent 8-bit music, great effects, hilarious presentation. this is what it's all about.
Evilpaul, You should really consider to made a port for ZX Sprinter.
It should work on it easily.
And You would have the demo working on real ZX hardware.

@Mofobaru: is there any chance to get the original vtx track? :-)
WOW!!!
This is soooo my cup of tea!
Thanks for the mp3! The vtx files would be great though - I'd love to add this tune to my hand-mastered collection.
great idea really well done
pimpnage
Simply hilarious! Haven't laughed at a demo like that in a long time.

[farbrausch]
WTF
I still don't get it much. Its fun, I get the deal but I still don't get it as a whole. I must be stupid.
@Mofobaru: thank you!!! I love you xD and I love this track ^__^
I am speechless, It's compeletly fresh concept, implemented in really unusual way. Amazing.
sadly that i never saw this demo before pb 09. well.... thats fucking great and funny stuff... we laughted like hell and it is now one of my fav. demos... a true classic !
ok
:D
Funny.
fun and funky, but not too impressive for PC
Funny, though modern ZX are 'pimped' enough to really run something like this.
Really fucking nice. Beautiful idea, wonder if it could ever be executed nicely again
88mph, lol! :D
Great and funny :)
adorable
This was so great! Loved the BTTF reference too. :)
.
funny stuff
Amazing DAMN!!!!
64k emulator plus intro for this emulator, bastardz!!
VOTE ONLY UP!

Totally love this demo and a stripped down ZX Emulator + democode in 64k, just great!
Made a Highres Rip for Youtube

Made a Highres Rip for Youtube
Pimp My Spectrum by ate bit | 64k intro
such a kick ass concept ! good musix & gfx & code & direction.
Nice concept
Nice concept, well executed and pretty neat being able to shove an emulator in there.
Excellent!
Dayum.
Really good in all respects!
Totally awesome intro, I liked every single bit :D
Watched it on youtube, 'cause I couldn't get any audio :( But it's nicey
oh well
<3
Great joke and hugely non-trivial implementation. Although, it does leave you slightly unsatisfied: a pimped-up Spectrum, surely, must be capable of something greater effect-wise.
Great concept and a great execution!
Oldskool I can get behind.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB1mFZp7aac
forgotten but deserved, i really think there should be more "trojan horses" in intro compos :D
No sound on Win7 x64
lovin it though
lovin it though
I loved this at the party, but having watched it again, I feel like the slow paced dialog parts break the flow. Nevertheless, it's quite a technical achievement, and the soundtrack is great, so thumb up it is!
managed to run on win 10 perfectly! loved both technical and execution sides
You guys are awesome! thank you for the goofy but fun presentation!
awesome coder porn !
and you did it much better! i even forgot this one is a pc intro...
