lovely tunes from the sublime hively tracker musicians, packaged in that cute interactive interface, fun read, great listen, thanks!
wheeeee! i would suggest that a windows mode on the linux port would be nice, but that would just be negative!
Hit 'f' or return to toggle between fullscreen and windowed mode on the Linux port. Use the -w command line switch to start in windowed mode.
Needs a windowed mode. THE BONUS TRACK IS ANOYING!!! :D
Great iPhace.
Great iPhace.
*windowed mode button
Sweet! ;)
Brilliant tunes + cute design = musigigantula disk

Not really a self-thumb, since my tunes were done a year before I joined Up Rough ;)
So there are some of your tunes and "not really a self-thumb". Nice logic. :)
Anyways lovely little thingie.
Nice tunes but the bonus track almost killed my ears after 3 minutes :)
great disk with some very nice tunes and a nice interface, but that windows replayer soundbug still exists... =(
At last! It's never too late!
Nice musicdisk. Good tunes.
I like a lot the original interface!

Cute and lovely.
Great musicdisk! Nice tunes and a hilarious interface! And nice hidden feature. ;)
Too bad about the missing/too slow 68k replayer. Would have been nice to have it on 68k as well.

it is fun and tunes are great but if it was windowed would be better tho ~
my bad didn't post above :x
very nice
Great!
Good idea
I have not understood as to switch tracks
xeron, thanx ;) Kewl tunes, nice shell! And big thanx for linux port
Looks nice, sounds nice, but a proper watch + listen will have to wait until post-bp. :(
Mmmm lovely :)
COOL
lovely interface.. took me a while to find the song selector and was wondering if those wavy flower are the final screen.. but it was worth searching, very interesting tracker and cool tunes in this compile!
Sooo cuddly :)
got an error : Fatal signal: Floating Point Exception (SDL Parachute Deployed) (XPSP2 + Ati)
anyway i like the begin :-)
anyway i like the begin :-)
Kool disk, you are on my list!
Loved killing the butterflys, I hated them so much I kills them all night!

Bonus Track +++
3 days interrupted by floaty point exception; reported.
Also: holy CRAP the Virgill track was Hively? I mean, I knew Syphus was doing incredible stuff with it but I mean ... I mean... I mean... Well doesn't that mean there's an osX replay now cuz of the other musicdisk it was on?

Sweet. (Crashed first when the sun came up but ran ok the second time.)
Syphus: But you loose at UP-avatar-having... ;)
Crap.
they even took away the amiga-stereo in the latest version of AO \o/.. although i hope for HVL/AHX-support in that new fresh ToolPlayer for OSX.. and nice release btw :)
Nice one, some cool tunes, especially forsaken is still so damn sweet :)
neat
Ubercute! Megasweet!
cute
What GJN said. Freeside Run is some good shit.
great prod !
love the music plus WOO: a linux port!
thanx for osx support.
Supporting that much platforms with an Am*ga-originated development gets a free thumb up. And otherwise, it rules too. :)
PORTS!
Nice unusual design :) It's fun to figure out how the user interface works. Thanks for MorphOS version and classic Amiga version would be nice too.
GP2x support! Cool! Must try later!
Wow! I have seen the Win32 port and the interface is totally lovely!!! And the GP2X version makes me much happier :)
No support for my Seiko watch, thumbs down
the win32 version hangs once the flowers pop up on my laptop, but the tunes are really great, so i'll give it a thumb for that
windows version crashes after the flowers pop out, gp2x version crashes before the planet shows up (and is SLOW!). not very convincing..
That's what I call a multi-platform demo !
xeron: yep. i'm pretty much suffering from everything fragment is describing. i'm on 1.6ghz core duo, 2gb of ram and radeon x1600 if it helps :)
Beep bleep!
nice in a lot of ways! small cute (crazy interface!), can even watch it on gp2x. and, of course, cool tunes.
great musicdisk!
btw, what about a psp-port? ;-)
Quality prod from the active non-idiot members of Up Rough. Added kudos for multi-platform especially Mac support :-)
Xeron, can you recompile this for the Sharp Zaurus?
It'd be the first ever Zaurus scene prod. ;)
It'd be the first ever Zaurus scene prod. ;)
Thumb up for multiplatform musicdisk.
For the interface and most of the tunes. The font on the other hand is so NO NO :P
plz can has port0rz for high endz classix Amig0rz wiz graphics boardz
plz can has port0rz for high endz classix Amig0rz wiz graphics boardz
Good tunes (that's the most important thing), but also a nicely designed interface with interesting controls and impressive animations.
WHERE IS THE C64 PORT??
cute
Awesome. Props for the Mac port. Crashed the first time I used it... but seems to work fine now. Great tunes, great look, great bonus secret track... and... I enjoy clicking and killing the butterflies. :)
Meh.
Thank you for the awesome tunes and linux port :)
multiplatform, unprecedented interface, so-so music, overall look is nostalgical...
I loved the simplistic style and i loved all the tunes. Definitely thumb up!
mac port :-)
I have found the bonus track, yay! This is an awesome product. Everthing is so cute and it runs everywhere!
I would thumb this up if the coder wasn't such an incompetent clown. Some nice tunes anyway.
v3nomsoup, WHAT ABOUT GP2X PORTS OF EVERYTHING FROM THE LAZY PSP DEVS!?
Just kidding. :)
But it's true that PSP "3D chip does all" is favored over GP2X "CPU rocks your world". I say, gimme a macro asm and a GL wrapper and I'll show you what's what. 8)

The GP2X crashed last time I tried but I will check the GP32 version now. I have a long time to see something for GP32 and it is my favorite gamepark handheld, more favorite than GP2X for some reasons..
nice :) 'sweeties' syphus and 'forsaken' virgill - first of all.
The GP32 version just crashes.
I had to find sdl.dll, but otherwise sweet and original. Awesome chippies, so warm <3
win32 version not work (W2k3 server)
cute
I might have a look at the GP32 source code.
Btw,. in the new GP2X port, the mouse is in the upper left corner and I cannot move it with the joypad, I cannot use the interface at all to select music or do other things. Was this is only for the new GP2X - F200 with the touchpad?

haha, I would like to try the qnx port ;)
Are you trying to do the most ported demoscene production ever btw?
Atari what?!
..haven't tested the GP2X version yet. I had a lot of work with that MFC shit and still have. I hate it now :P

xeron, you are crazy ;)
btw.. where can one find the mint port?
I've just ran the new GP2X port and I think it rocks!
Also, I just damaged my joypad badly while trying to drop the petals maniacly ;P
New pouet record for number of ports?
What about the nintendo DS? :D
Awesome interface - what a great idea!
what doesn't this run on? ;)
Haha xeron invented the attention whore prod :]
Haha, I just ran this in my favorite Acorn emulator :)
Quote:
I tried doing a native port, but it seems i couldn't set up a double-buffered 16bit framebuffer, and it was very slow anyway.
What about the VRAM display mode? It only works on one screen (unless you do screenswapping, but you don't need to render to both screens do you?) but you get four 256x192 px 15-bit buffers to play with.
Or you can just use a standard BG mode with 15-bit direct color BG layers that can be rotoscaled and just flip between which layer is displayed between frames.
For more info:
http://nocash.emubase.de/gbatek.htm#dsvideobgmodescontrol
and I'm sure libnds includes some examples of this.
great tunes
Tried the PSP port yesterday, doesn't work on 3.90 CFW.
wanted to look what's wrong, yes. ;) will see if I feel like tormenting visual studio this weekend ;)
Tested on XBox and doesn't work.
confirmed the xbox port doesn't work.
Fantastic work.
And xeron, I would really appreciate hivelytracker on the DS if you ever manage the time to make a port.

How did I forget my thumb up for this?!
Awesome. chipdisks rulz

Wow ... runs on Acorn too - thumbs up for this ... thats pretty cool. Tested it on my Iyonix (RPC-follow-up with XScale CPU ... runs smooth).
Great graphics and animation of flower, stars, butterflies
also the menu

woow! what a lovely little thing! i am listening for the first tune now, but can't wait for giving a thumb up! thanks a lot for this gem.
Xbox (tested)
Thank you xeron !
Thank you xeron !
well done on a great musisc disk. Even better still is that it works on my RISC OS machine too!!
First demo in a very looooong time for RISC OS.
Nice One.

Xeron, I have tested the (Free)MiNT port for Atari, thanks for trying it :-) It works a bit, but not fully.
The screen changes resolution, goes black - but stays black too. The synth starts playing, although a bit lagged, as if the CPU is too slow (66MHz 060). Exit with ESC works a treat, no crash or so.
Perhaps lowering the mixing frequency for the port would do the trick ? 32780 Hz is a native Falcon frequency.

ARM-PalmOS (untested)
Doesn't work. Tested on a Tréo 650 (hard resets the phone) and Tungsten T5 (no crash/reboot but just a black screen and nothing else).
Toolchain still installing... Zzz... Might check the PALM port (if I still have my Palm Dev-Env. installed that is, have to check ;D) while the PSP toolchain is installing in the VM. =)
I was trying to compile the GP32 port. I had some problems and maybe I need to know with which SDL libs was it compile because the precompiled SDL libs I have might be wrong or maybe I need to use an older DevkitArm (I have the DevkitPro with DevkitARM that has some eabi binary files). Who is the person who did the port btw? Maybe I could contact him and ask some things.
I suspected too things in the GP32 code.
First of all something happens and it stucks forever somewhere inside the big SDL_WaitEvent( &event ); do{ in main and doesn't reach the render() thing.
Also, when I commented the big thing and just left the render, I needed to press once a key so that the render starts because it said:
case SDL_USEREVENT:
needrender = 1;
break;
Why does it have to wait for a userevent (any key press?) for the renderer to start? I am not sure about that..
..but maybe that's not the most important problem. After the first frame was rendered (some yellow stars) it freezed there.
I suspected something else. In GP32 if you use malloc from stdlib your programm crashes. Somehow GP32 has problems with stdlib and needs that you #include <gpstdlib.h> and use gp_mem_func.malloc instead. This is how it works in led blur and everything I have done in my GP32 releases. So the next thing was to try to change the mallocs and see if it continues after the first render without freezing. Of course I had to include the gp libs in the makefile (-lgpstdlib, I don't remember if it needs the rest) and the gamepark_sdk include and lib files from the internet.
That's where I couldn't verify if this worked because the devkitarm refused to compile. It says the message "libgpstdlib.a uses hardware FP while hively.elf uses software FP". Usually when this happens and I found in forum discussions in the past, it's because the libs are compiled with hardware FP (with or without the -msoft-float flag) and I have to find some versions that are compile with software FP or compile them myself :P. But it's strange because the gpstdlib compiles in the led blur project but not here? I also removed the msoft-float from the hively makefile and it gives me the same error. I wil try later :P

isn't it kinda fishy to claim the prod has been ported if the guy who ported it openly admits he has no way to test his work?
time for some famous qoutes:
"How should I know if it works? That's what beta testers are for. I only coded it"
"How should I know if it works? That's what beta testers are for. I only coded it"
"Marco Van Den Heuvel". Bot, hollander. Kom je naar outline?
blacky: if the functionality of a port cannot be confirmed 100%, i would personally prefer to wait with announcing it until the first positive testreports have dropped in. i admit that there's a risk that waiting for testreports will lead to a catch-22 situation in the sense that if you don't announce the port, nobody will test it, and thus no testreports will be received.
so ehm... well... please don't take this as hard criticism, but rather as a friendly request to keep us up-to-date about the compatibility test-status of this prod :)
skrebbel: kan ook nog belg of zuidafrikaan zijn, maar die zijn ook van harte welkom :)

I need more ports of this.
Nice tunes and interface
the PSP port doesn't work on my slim with cfw 3.90m33-3
Working PSP port will be released this weekend, I just want to clean up some things and stuff! :)
xeron, you are crazy ;)
personally I think you should have put more effort into the actual music"disk" code before porting it to every toaster on the planet. The interface looks quite cheap/unpolished/written in a hurry. The tunes are enjoyable, though..piggy for me ;)

only to submit to the appearence on the pouet front page.. its really nice to see all these icons next to each other.
i want a version for my washing machine :)
hey, Playstation 2 is missing *wink*
Great prod guys :D

No classic Amiga version = NO GOOD!
thumbs down!
thumbs down!

Well DUH! You don't think I know what I said!
I was trying to point out that the quote does not really fit this context. Although I will admit that my english was unusually bad in my rebuttal, which may have caused some small confusion.
Oh, and thanks for linking to Hit Mouse 1, a few more of these and it may be one of the few prods on pouet with a popularity greater than zero :-P (Like this one, except crapper and running on a REAL Amiga:-)

Good Music on all Platforms :)
You hit the top score for the number of supported platforms!
There are some nice tunes on this disk. I like it.
I tried to quickly put together a Dreamcast version, but didn't succeed. Maybe this one requires more than 16M memory?
Cute Musicdisc with wonderful Tunes.. Rules :)
WinCE ports don't work on ARM WM2003SE or on ARM WM5. Just blanks the screen then returns to gui, but most of it is gone so the device needs a soft reset. WM2003 specific version tested on ARM WM2003SE doesn't even start. Says it's not a valid application.
Maybe it needs some library?
That being said, awesome prod. Love Syphus' tunes the most. :)

Ran on IRIX fine when I changed clr_l to:
memset(src,0,longs*4);
The compiler didn't align the struct members and MIPS/ARM aren't generally happy about 32-bit access to odd addresses. Might help with some of those WinCE ports as well?

Marq: that was one of the bugs why the psp port crashed. I fixed that already. The WinCE ports have some other problems but I didn't look into them yet. :)
Xeron: I'll send it soon, I just need to fix some annoying stuff concerning the mouse pointer :D And I couldn't be arse to look into it the last days.

Awesome...
I don't see any updates in the source behind that link o.O
impressive porting work :)
I thought you guys were joking...but you really ported this thing to every platform in the known universe.
And finally (after two nights of fighting with its bad hardware): a working GP32 port.
Multi platform prods are sooo awesome! Gonna check it out for Mac OS X (Intel) first. Then I'm burning it for Dreamcast. When I go to work I'll pack it on my GP2X. Nice! :D
Ha? A GP32 port! Great, because I failed (I suck at porting :P)
Wow, the GP32 port is great! The speed is better than I was expecting and there is a pointer (unlike the GP2X where there was none) to kick the butterflies and select the petals. Way to go Marq!!!
Damn, I wish I could transform my thump down in a thumb up..
take this comment as this ;)

So, where is the working PSP Port ;) ?
the wii port works like a charm. <3 xeron
Now that the Wii port is out, I feel entitled to thump this production up!

Still waiting for PSP port, jsyk! ;)
still waiting for a non-obscure-OS atari port =]
Quote:
Well, here's some sort of quick and dirty PSP version for you and the source too. Maybe the other dude will make his version faster etc. but use this while waiting :)
That "other dude" would be me. ;) And I didn't want to release "just another port" :) Thus my version contains quite a bit of additional psp specific code for better handling, speed etc. Thanks for releasing your port though, now I can fix the last remaining SDL bug in my version in peace and without stress. :)
I'm glad to hear you want to make it perfect for the platform. My version is more or less a bulk recompile to get the gadget properly supported since it's on the list already :P (and I wanted to do some ports now that I finally have a PSP myself too)
Marq, thank you, it's nice to have it on PSP, maybe it's a bit slow, but wtf, it works, and sounds nice ;)
So thumb up from me! ;)
Oh, and Marq, in your version clicking arrows in text boxes doesn't work, plus it would be nice to control cursor with digital pad! :D

An easy "optimization" would have been clocking to 333 MHz but I chose not to do it because you probably spend quite a lot of time with the music disc and that would eat up the battery faster. Hopefully Stingray's version turns out better :)
Oh well, behind the same link 333 MHz version with d-pad and scrolling support...
Marq, I don't think it works faster, but d-pad and arrows are now ok, thanks! ;)
Maybe it's bad that quitting by hitting the Home button hangs the console, but whatever ;)

You sure are a difficult customer. Now behind the same link: faster rendering, tear-free page flipping and exit through Home button works. What else ?)
Customer? I was just giving my opinion! ;D
Anyway, great work, now it works like a charm!
Thank you ;)

nice 2D work :D
great tracks <3
xeron: i'll have a look at that source as soon as someone ports our opensource releases to any random other platform.. ;)
until then, i will keep nagging until you comply. :)
until then, i will keep nagging until you comply. :)
btw i must add that i am happy you made a BEOS port. i happen to know the only remaining BEOS user (an ex-atari-scener, so he's well versed in mindless zealotism), and he's mightily chuffed with a port for his private platform ;)
how tall is the person using that platform? to beat BEOS, it must be a midget ;)
hehehe :) cool, then i see no further reason to hold back my request for a SMSQ/E port in addition to TOS ;)
MenuetOS anyone? ;)
xeron: nope, no sdl afaik.. but more than enough horsepower (it runs on modern pc's)
fantastic... :) well done
what alk said.
xeron: ok, so also the DS and (the from an atari pov rather relevant) AGA porting/remaking plans are out the window officially now?
VIDEO PLZ! :P
thumb up for having more ports than a realdoll!
thumb up for having more ports than a realdoll!
SMSQ/E is a further development of the Sinclair QL OS, therefore it should be obvious that anyone who suggests it is either joking, or in grave need of psychological treatment.
the fact that the AGA port might still happen is much more relevant imho.. a SDL atari port would be of the same level of obscurity as BEOS and the likes, so porting a to-be AGA version is the only useful option i guess.

i guess the problem with SMSQ/E is that it never really had a native platform. even the q40/q60 boxes (the only ones ever built with SMSQ/E in mind) came with a linux68k package in the box. if simply booting the other OS lets you run all the software you need, you can waste all your time on porting your own OS to a new generation of hardware. and that's exactly what the SMSQ/E ppl have been doing for about 22 years now, afaik ;)
aranym does indeed emulate 68k, and also dsp. afaik the intention of the project was to stick with that structure from the start, but i've got to admit i'm not a big expert since i stopped following the project a few years ago. imho the only "honourable way" is to somehow port this prod to real hardware, which means an equal amount of headache for both AGA and Falcon, probably :/
as for our opensource releases: i wish you the best of luck ;) and keep my fingers crossed that you like 68k :)

A usable Acorn/Risc OS port here: http://ftp.kameli.net/pub/fit/ports/planeth_riscos_lores.zip. The previous one worked but was like 3fps. This is in 320x256 lowres, needs DRender and some 200MHz StrongARM.
style md!

I always liked it, now i tried to get a working Atari MiNT port. This is what i got after a few trys. Not perfect, but usable - read the readme :-)
The download will stay valid until its on the official place. Please test and report ...

Already tested it as you know :-)
A few further notes to add. It is the SDL source and not anything machine specific or specially written. An 060 class Atari Falcon is essential, otherwise it is pointless even trying it. The faster the machine, the better. The run speed can be described as 'sedate' but adequate. The music plays back just fine :-)
Awesome :D
universal demo. creative presentation of music disc content

Great tunes. Would love to see/hear some more!

all links is broken?
No c64 or ZX spectrum ports, thus a piggy.
Really cool to see all those ports, shame it crashes about 1s after starting on os x...
The Links are all obviously broken, but here the prod still can be found.

The xbox version has a very shitty performance actually, atleast on my box
The Planet Hively files are broken for Classic Mac OS, because the two .img files uploaded weren't compressed with .sit, .bin or .hqx before hosting them on a webserver, causing the resource fork of each file to be completely removed at the time of the upload.
Would it be possible for the author to reupload those two .img files, but compressed with .sit?

This is the ideal of how to write cross-platform applications
The text at the top of the screen gets cut off on my Wii, but otherwise it's still a very enjoyable music-disk.
