I love that demo ! The effects a really cool (especially that "lightning" sphere and the particle "firework"), graphics & typos are excellent and the music is of course great !

it's not the orange style i expected. it's kindof overrated only for the name. it doesn't give the feeling of old orange prods. dissapointing :\
So after 3 years, and their previous demo The Secret Life of Mr.Black, Orange makes a comeback in full force.
The demo is mainly composed of 2d effects generated in software which makes it quite anachronic, now that demo groups are turning more and more towards using those damn 3d accelerators. And it manages to amaze us nevertheless, as this demo is brightly designed and good-looking thanks to the use of the 512x384 resolution and more importantly, all the effects are bilinearly interpolated.
It also features some well designed Ifs fractals morphing, and delicious particles trickery like only Orange does it.
But what makes alway an Orange demo special is how the demo integrates all the 2d art and musical elements: The graphics made by Der Piipo here are at the top, and the awesome music by Dune, a mix of hiphop and more mellow influences in an idm package is again setting brilliantly the mood of the demo. (especially with an efficient synchronization work)

the best thing is the effect at the end. the trippy image morphing thingy and the piece of the track that gets looped. left the demo going for several minutes before i pressed esc =)

Say what you want about it, this demo is unmistakeable, genuine Orange. Even with the 3D (gasp! :). You can get really mentally lost in the unusual rhythm combined with the pic warping at the end.
Mr.Black was my favoritest from Orange, but generally I wasn't that much fun of Orange..

very good colors and design, good music, Amiga style rulez, i dont like the gfxs, all the sames in the demo, but style is coherent. Some effects are very good, and stylished, a must-view demo for sure
talk is cheap. in your face. orange is back. word.

this demo is like a orange encyclopaedia, ideal for those who want to get the idea of what orange-stylee is but don't have the hardware to run their old classics.

This is one of the worst demos ever, this ORANGEstylee thing sucks badly. Trying to do a "different" demo is a good thing, but this is just a pitiful attempt at it.

It's ok, expecially the end part with the gazillion filters and deformations. The rest is just too average for Orange, and the tune is boring after the first 30 secs.

some of the design's okay.. and i liked the music (it's very non-ibizan so it must be some sort of injoke).. but i really missed the point of this.. it doesn't use acceleration but it requires 128megs and a fast processor, so the fact it's software rendered is nothing to boast about, particularly when you have prerendered 3D scenes in poor quality video!

I like the comic-book font (big and bright) and the pictures are impressive, or at least they would be if they would let you look at them... but that's all I can really say for this demo. I was expecting something better, especially from the music.

this rocks. first demoscene prod i saw that integrates a hiphop soundtrack perfect into the demo without being ludicrous. mind blowing style. i love the effects and who the fuck cares about a pre rendered scene? demo is anyway about style and quality. that doesnt mean that its not about technology. but i think technology and rendering quality are in a linear relation. tho design has much more influence than technology :). and this thing definitely has it all imho.

hoplite: it's on mindcandy 1 so getting a video means nothing more than ripping that track :)
the mindcandy 1 version is not 100% complete soundtrack-wise (especially for the landscape-part), and the endpart is terminated quite quickly.. guess I just need to dig the old pc out of my basement then.
we removed the vocal samples in the landscape part because we thought we might get in legal trouble.. we *probably* could've gotten away with it (we took our chances more with vol 2), but weren't sure at the time. same goes with the intro to "megablast".
Yeah of course we agreed on the crippling with I think Trixter when the dvd was still cooking, now I just need to do the rapping in ibiza & the intro in megablast myself while watching the dvd :)

Still runs in 2016! Just set compatibility mode to Win98. Has not aged one bit (maybe some of the rainbow-colored typography, but it's still cool).

How could I forget to comment on this? An absolutely timeless production - absolutely iconic. The glitch work in the music was far ahead of its time when it was released, and the breaks soundtrack is an absolute bop.

I said then it was slow, now on 512x384 on computers at the time, with billenear filtered and blended effects, they did an effort compared to some random 320x240 soft demo in modern PCs. We could be doing HD soft rendering now.
