Kick ass demo! These scenes make the ones in little nell/perfect circle and magia look like they were done by boozoholics.

i wasn't even surprised :)
this is fucking awesome :)

Great
Quite impressive. Ironically the scene in the screenshot is the only one I didn't like :)

PC SUXX PC SUXX !!
(btw.. and Amiga PPC too, haha!)
Congratulations for this great production!
(btw.. and Amiga PPC too, haha!)
Congratulations for this great production!
great demo, superb textures on the mountain scenes.
probably the maincoder from boozoholics asked too much money this time, so rubbah and kalms had to make on their own :)
great demo, awesome design from louie500 once again. great codework as usual. keep up the good work guys.
now the question is: can they make it 5-in-a-row?

yeah well....

can't you just like, er, die? this is getting embarassing for the pc scene.

just awesome...

ryg: you mean its getting embarrasing for all other graphicians/demodeziners than Louie? ;)
kicked ass.
I have to agree nosfe:
THIS KICKED ASS!
THIS KICKED ASS!
Fukking rulezzed. The PC-Democompo which was held after this felt like shit. :)
awesome... i could hardly put it into words!
that landscape just kicks ass!
that landscape just kicks ass!
you just convinced me to buy an amiga :)
very good, especially the train scene and the talking guy.
If this was made with a pc I would still like it. The design, graphics and music was some really good stuff.
Considering it was done on an Amiga, I can't find any words to describe this demo. I'm gonna have nightmares about this tonight! :-)

Loved it! Maybe combined demo competitions wouldn't put the Amiga at such a disadvantage these days. Great work, and that landscape is beautiful!
nuff said
i was blown away. it's a very well deserved 1st.
Owned all PC intros and most PC demos.
Same old TBL hat, but I'd eat it any day.

Too bad I do not have an Amiga.

this is really great !
but
it's 22 megs uncompressed ?
i'm curious how much is music and textures, but perhaps there is some serious precalcing / animation in here.

BRAVO!
good work guys! void in some parts but the music fix it.
The fractal mountain part was incredibly realistic. Amiga rocks still!
no doubt: best production from bp
damn this rocked. I would've been perfectly happy just staring at the mountainscape for the whole demo ;-)
OMFG! What the HELL WAS THAT!
Brought the house down at the party, along with about half of the other Amiga entries. I could only shake my head at the barrage of kickass effects and scenes. Absolutely brilliant. Question, though: anyone know what the stagemaster is saying? I can hear 'Breakpoint' and 'Swedish' in there, but the rest is a bit hard to interpret...
Anyway, huge respect! I shall not rest until I've made something comparatively powerful on the c64.
Anyway, huge respect! I shall not rest until I've made something comparatively powerful on the c64.
argh.... too much graphic work, it kills me ! maybe less code experimentation than in little nell (the tree, the fractal sprites,...) but nowadays 3D tricks (panoramic cubes, texture baking) used to perfection as never before.
Truly a great moment at the partyplace. No shortcuts here, the effort they put in shows, and it works. Thank You for restoring my faith into this scene thing.
You are boring assholes, please quit the scene and go doing some Britney Spears MTv Video, so we can stop feeling humiliated.
no need to argue, it rocks technically and design-wise
superb!
WTF!?
stunning!
sehr sehr gut
and it has atmosphere and a top notch soundtrack. it has everything a pc demo lacks nowadays =) SOUL

1.) The Soundtrack is ace!
2.) It kinda looks like the 2 TBL Demos before, tho.
3.) Still it's damn sexy...
The Scene on the Screenshot, with that guy, was rather weird to me. He could have moved a bit more, or the camera at least.

I hereby officially apologize for saying "Amiga Sux" and declare proudly: "PC Sux". Yes.
Fuckings to Amiga sceners for having computers which can... ! :)
Fuckings to Amiga sceners for having computers which can... ! :)
Well,. it's like previous TBL demos, not my favorite from the compo (I think that must be the Iris demo, gotta watch it again), but that snow mountain landscape was looking preety realistic!!!
Amazing!
Amiga4ever
Amiga4ever
Loved it! Thats the best Amiga Demo i had ever seen ...
Seeing this at the compo on the big screen just made me empty, I just forgot the other demos, forgot to what was up and down, hell might have forgotten my name. Holy shit this production has such a visual impact. The texturing by Louie is absolutely amazing and the code keeps improving and is already beyond what is possible on an amiga. Guys you rule!!!
thank you for restoring Visualice's faith in this scene thing.
I almost pissed my pants while watching this in the compo =)
very nice.
R - E - S - P - E - C - T, you know what you mean to me!~~ Or sth. ^___^
I love you!
I love you!
wow! when i had a sneak peek at the mountain scene before the compo, I was stunned, and I just hoped that the final product would be of the same quality, and i was NOT dissapointed! TBL, you told me before that this would be a product that you would be able to stand up for, I believe you now! All my love goes out to you! Respect!
that landscape was a killer, monsterously good on the bigscreen... tbl, you guys rule! :)
Selftvote sucks :)
wow.
Can't wait for that CT60 port... :)
When that mountain landscape showed up was probably one of the most memorable moments at the party.
PC coders: watch and learn how to make demos as impressive, so they win competitions. ;)
Rules. Especially the voxel stuff.

Makes me want to be part of the amiga scene.

good work kennybenny
this is something we can only dream of on our pcs. shame on us...
Well... Good.
uberdemo.
anyone knows how to make that dancing babe avoid to crash in winuae?
anyone knows how to make that dancing babe avoid to crash in winuae?
Well, it's basically all about the models and textures which are very good.
really well-made demo! nothing very NEW, but I like it. a lot. ;]
glad to see tbl back. one of the best demos on amiga for ages. simply roulez.
Nice one....you show us a big power from Amiga....
amiga is dead! i want the same on my PiCi! amiga is dead! amiga is d...
Rok! ;D
The Metalvotze guys seem to believe that they stepped on the PC sceners toes at BP'04 by winning the PC demo compo with Winnerdemo. But anyone who has seen this demo knows that it is in fact TBL who *really* stepped on our toes :-)
Excellency!
omfg. Best demo I've seen in ages. The fact that its on a ~10 year old system just makes it all the more impressive. Can't wait for the Spectrum 48K port!
this one just rules the world ... best (tbl) amiga demo i've ever seen, better than rain ;) Just keep up the good work ... we love you !!! ;)
sigh.. and yet there are still pc guys who believe we want to see spinning cubes hacked together in a few hours synched to ripped techno music in the demo compo.. THIS is the kind of effort we want to see, guys!
I can imagine the mountain scenes are low-poly, but like little nell and lapsuus, the textures are gorgeous. the following tunnel is a little suspicious, considering it rotates faster than it moves inside.. hmm. the ringmaster and the twirling female were great ideas, just need to tweak those camera angles a little for dramatic effect. :)
and the music.. oh man. i ripped the data file to shreds and still couldn't get at it, anyone have the mod/xm so i can put it on demodulate? and blaizer, if you're out there, please contact me about mindcandy vol 2 menu/trailer music. :)

everything clicks, liked the megademo feeling on this :)
Holy shit! Rocks fuckingly fucking bigtime!
just great.. tbl does it again. pc sceners - wake up! :)
Oh yes, yes indeed. They have computers that can..
fuckings to tbl!
Damn, I wish I'd been unconscious during the PC demos instead of the Amiga demos.
This demo on a PC and half the votes would be: "This is just a fly-by - thumb down"
ehm, wtf are you talking ? xD
Phoenix: it's not a mod/xm/s3m/it/etc
Phoenix: the format of the music is an PSX ADPCM (VOB file) - mono, 22kHz.
Hope it helps.
This is awesome demo. yes.

PC SCENE - wake up!! This rocked you down at BP!!
Actually stelthz does kinda have a point :)
slummy: er, yes. in fact i thought the mountains were voxel - seems like my sight was a bit unclear on sunday night already during the compo. they're just textures still looking cool...
Here is blaizers great tune.

thanks.. the tune is great.
Beautifull! Good amiga demos are always worth for thumbing.
i would've left that annoying, ugly yelling dude and those hexagons flying on top of the mountains off of the demo... what's with the sci-fi crap? the music in the end without the drums was lovely, but in other parts too demoish for me. there wasn't any real connection between the parts.
everything else in this demo r0xx0rs!! :)
everything else in this demo r0xx0rs!! :)
Wonderfull! The people saying bp 04 was the comeback for Amiga was right. This demo rocks.
I lack words for describing how severely impressed I am by this demo. Damn you're good.
Louie be the father of my children!
And Chavez, i LOVE Ninja Bolognese :)

My comment related to the fact that fly-bys are disregarded and ignored on PC, while they are apparently valued on amiga.
By no means I intended to criticise this demo..

uff... very cool
Simply awesome. Truly a remarkable demo. This will be a great source of inspiration for others. Somebody has to lead while the masses follow. TBL leads! =)
This is good.
Ähm.. they have computers that can beat the lousy winnerdemo..

fscking awesome!
crashes my winuae during landscape flyby - any advice?
but so far.. stunning prod
but so far.. stunning prod
Keith303: I had the same problem and the only solution I could find was to download the video.
Awesome work from TBL again...
tour de force as usual, I am willing to bet PC flybys will be popular again if the models and textures would ever be this good, but this is usually neglected
problems under winuae? try to disable "no flags" and enable "hard flush" options in jit emulator section.
ace! they did it again!
whoa.
Here's my WinUAE setup, which runs Silkcut fine:

i tried the above config (thanks for posting it, btw) but the error i tend to get remains the same:
ERROR: 5: BlockPool_alloc: Pool sysDefaultPool, unable to allocate 10244 bytes
guess my WinUAE is pretty damned to fuck up that certain demo, since everything else runs pretty fine and decent.

I can see half of the demo and then I get the same error.
seems that the UAE detection doesn't work properly anywhere :D
thumbage.
Haha.. I tried the configuration of Phoenix, and after the part with the girl it doesn't crash but show the landscape. And while I am looking at it for 5 seconds while saying "Wow! It finally worked!!!", it crashes again with the same platform. So,. I just managed to say few more seconds of it :)
with the same platform=with the same error message
4 times in a row. you guys get boring. :)
stop whining and buy an amiga! :)
Great stuff

Wow, very good. nice code, _very_ impressive artwork and exelent "pinball dreaming" by olaf gustavsson.
Imho the best of the last 4 tbl demos.
Imho the best of the last 4 tbl demos.
maniacs! :D
blown away by the mountain scenes, loved the rest
keith303, an amiga doesn't take that much space. it's almost like a big keyboard. so, get a better excuse or rather an amiga. :)
The only problem with amiga is that it takes like 5-10 minutes to precalc on my 040/50 :)
melw, plain amiga is only "keyboard", but don't forget about some hdd, cd, turbocard, mode, etc...
sweet
Simply impressive, TBL rulez :)
Really cool - some nice and tricky effects and excellent textures, though I don't find the music that cool...
great textures, beautiful scenes and good music. but as usual with tbl, slow and incoherent. and when the divx is 34 meg and the demo 22, you start to wonder what the point is
after brushing up on the prevoius tbl demos i must say that this one by far is their best one.
felt a bit like inside/cncd on amiga somehow...
this is definately the right direction although i must admit as already said that in essence it's only a 3d scene player. but who cares ;)
what 3dmark is for pc, silkcut is for amiga.
now i only need to get a decent accelerator board for my 040 CPU ;)
- highly polished, consistent design
- all 3d scenes really had awesome textures
- rocking code (engine, bones, ...)
- great music

wow, this rules. Ive never expected to see something like this on a amiga. Go girls, GO! =D *amazed*
ah. hehe. epadrena :D
amazing mountain scenery and quality music. definite kickass.
This one kicks ass ... amiga rulez!
polished 3d models and scenes, but no coherency between the scenes
some work on texture, synchros and more, but it miss a story coherency or main thema perhaps, so ok for me

uff... 4 me, it wasn't as a big surprise as Rain was. Boring 3d secenes with hi-res textures and a tunnel anim... Anyway this shit looks really f***n' nice!
Impressive
I´m so embarrassed to be part of pc-scene.
KICK ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
woohoo
Incredible artist work...
those mountain scenes totally rock!
i don't like the (lack of) design, i don't like the (lack of) style, but i have to give them thumbs up for the great landscape :)
Pretty neet. I've never seen it on a real amiga, only with UAE, but I like it. :)
Just fucking awesome. I hope to see something as cool as this next year again.
stunner
bastards :)
wow, the music rules so much! we want a DL link! :)
the landscape is absolutely great, yesss.
the landscape is absolutely great, yesss.
it's amazing how fast it is on my WinUAE ... If that represents the speed of a 68060 it's just amazing code. Has some amazing graphics and some cool effects as well...
Thanks to psycho/loonies for helping me setup that thing... U rock.

lost my head... in the top ten best prods ever.
it didn't thumb this up yet?! wtf
I really like this... and oh my god, the MUSIC!!!
depth/sol: Hmm, could u share your WinUAE settings?
and in case you wonder what the guy is saying:
"At my challenge, by the ancient laws of combat, we are met at this chosen ground, to settle for good and all who holds sway over the five points: us natives, born rightwise to this fine land, or the foreign hordes defiling it."

What's all this about PC people hating flybys and anything Amiga? I love flybys as long as something interesting happens (like the music- wow! or scenery like those mountains - wow! or the very professional way the opening credits were done...)
If this were a PC demo, I still would have thumbed it up for the soundtrack, the victorian styling, and that mountainscape. Maybe complain about low resolution, but I don't mind that when there's interesting 3D on an Amiga (and not PowerPC, either)
I think what this shows is the benefits of having a vision, and doing a polished demo rather than some night-before hacking. It's not like the PC can't do things like this either.

really great one!
seen this style before many times on pc, but what the hell. this one is a credit to it's kind: the soundtrack is damn fine and the visuals are totally slick.
and.. how can anyone make such good scenes with so few polys! total orgasm!! it's great to see what a 50 MHz 060 amiga can do! congratulations! =)

I just watch the video, nice demo =)
that's right, and they did win the challenge ;)
very nice demo, indeed! :) it runs almost perfect on winuae for me to (the sound is slightly out of sync, but theres probably just something wrong with my settings) .. i dont know if its the settings or the specs of my computer that makes this run on winuae, though :Z
so great !
>depth/sol: Hmm, could u share your WinUAE settings?
I had the crash problem during/before the mountains too. Now I managed to make it run as a whole accidentally. It's ironic how. I don't know what happened, but one day my WinUAE config fucked up. Every few seconds the speed crawls, I have to press F12 to bring the menu and then back in order to run normal for a little while again. I can't watch anything this way but it's only corrected with sound off. But after this bug in my whole WinUAE config, I was surprised to see that Silkcut runs as a whole. WinUAE fucks up BUT Silkcut runs now!!! (Should I reinstall WinUAE or leave it as it is for the sake of this demo ;)
>it's amazing how fast it is on my WinUAE ... If that represents the speed of a 68060 it's just amazing code.
I think it's more than any 680x0 Amiga on my AthlonXP 2600 now. Because of this reason, I had the weird effect of page-back-flipping (Hmm.. how to say) on the demos 'The Castle' and 'When we ride our enemies'. Previously drawn frames where flipped wrongly. It might have to do with something I have read in the nfo file of one of those demos. Multiple buffer where prerendered before shown, so in a preety fast Amiga (that didn't exist), frames where rendered much faster than outputted and so with not much memory old ones still not shown were erased by later. So,. I had to underclock my computer (or run in OpenGL/Direct3D and put some higher res, instead of software mode on the emulator) in order to watch the demo as it should be. Interesting?
And now I am thinking, is it perhaps the same with WinUAE and Silkcut or not? I think I have to reinstall WinUAE (Because I hate the new bugs), and try to run Silkcut on 1Ghz machine. Or have I already tried that???

my thumb:
wow i love it, love it, [..]
One of the best demos ever that I've seen!! Amazing!!
i'll be damned.. optimus is right. :)
i was wondering why the heck it ran great on my xp1900, but crashed midway through on my a64 3200. i tried changing/crippling all kinds of winuae settings, to no avail. finally, i dropped my cpu speed down to 1GHz in the BIOS, and voila, no more crash. Disabling JIT or taking emulation speed off "fastest possible" *might* also work, but either will make it so slow it will no longer be enjoyable.

Hope 2 see a new TBL DEMO at BP05!!!!
GANGS OF NEW YORK!
the best amiga demo that I've ever seen... not that I have seen many, but anyways... great!!!
respect.
i love this demo.
Tbl forever! Great demo on a 060!
great great demo, respect
Cool prod, no question ! Impressiv good design.
wow
OMG!!!%2
Fix the url!
Just great!
maybe one of the most beautiful "thing" i've ever seen. great visuals, great music, great mood.
Top Baleze !
It`s a tradition, each year TBL come to Mekka, now Breakpoint and each year they win. When we saw their signs in the hall, everybody knew who the winner will be. Yes, this year the Amiga demoscene had their definite COMEBACK at the BP! Ephidrena, Up Rough, TBL and many others have shown the PC Scene where the hammer is hanging. Silkcut is pure dope to say it in sprayers slang!
i'm searching for those (counter-)clocks at train stations.
oh I almost forgot this one :) big thumbzzz
damn I forgot to thumb this up :O
A demo!
one more thumb for the black lotus!
where the hell was my thumb hiding all this time?
This fucking rocks! :D
Hehe.. Rocks :) Very Nice Demo :)
dawn as hell.
Just awesome!
well, this actually was top of one of the craziest Amiga- Demo compos I've experienced :D
thumb.
Mindblowing!
Nice, but what is that 'Designers Republic' image/texture doing in here? (On the wall behind the speaker)
This is just beautiful. :)
Quite beautiful indeed. Graphically not so consistent but nothing seems totally out of place either and the individual scenes are just lovely. In addition to that this is another demo soundtrack I find myself wanting to listen even when not watching.
I particularly love the beginning and the end on this one, I found them very skillfully composed with a lot of attention to detail.

not my favourite tbl amiga prod, but very nice indeed
top!
suppa-duppa
style.
Nice
WHY HAVEN'T I THUMBED THIS YET?...
mega thumb up !
Seriously... that\'s SUCK!
The only thing that sucks here is Jtas comment.
Great demo!

Oh yes – the ruling ocean-machine predecessor. It’s absolutely great! I think I like snow landscape parts and the overall style with all the nice little details like 2d stuff etc. the most. I absolutely dislike the “I want you for the US army” - guy at the beginning :) Thumb Up!
Not my favorite TBL Amiga demo, but close. The soundtrack is great, and it's impressive what an 060 can do.
seeing this the first time was a dream.. and still the atmosphere is unique!
good soundtrack, impressive fx
beautiful work especially landscape
What a HELL!
You are GOD TBL !

This is the most consistent TBL product so far -from their new era.
Brilliant.

There were some talks about that the video is recorded from a 100MHz Falcon, which is wrong.
It's recorded on the "stock" CT60 which is 66 MHz and there is no chipram overclocking either. So a standard 66/16 MHz machine with 14/256MB memory.

yes, nice conversion for the f060 is now available. watching this on real hardware as opposed to an avi is a pleasure. and it runs absolutely fine on a standard ct60 (66 MHz, 16 MHz ST bus).
i heard there is a newer version which has some bugfixes and such. will download tonight.

Falcon port!!!
I must buy falcon, I must.
I must buy falcon, I must.
Best TBL demo ever, best soundtrack from Blaizer
Cool with the falcon 060 port. Is it faster than on amiga?
Nerve and me tried to port respirator stories, but we sort of gave up at some point. Can't remember why, but I think it was because of the PUBLIC keyword in phxass :)
Any plans to port the rest of the tbl chunky based stuff now then?

I can not wait for a working Hatari version that performs Atari Falcon demos well. Version 1.0.0 is on a good way, "Beams" and "Outline 2006 inv" work but the sound emulation just outputs noise.
Good job doing this port. I'm now waiting for a fix for vga monitors that don't support 50hz :-).
wtf? no thumb yet?
right
for the falcon port! :))
ct63 & tbl & mikro
Loadie, the Falcon version definitly runs faster..
Here's a clip from both versions (the Amiga is from the DivX linked here):
MPEG-4 AVC movie clip comparison
Watching 25 FPS movies on a PC/Mac is bad to begin with frame-rate wise, so this is not exactly optimal, but if you frame-by-frame step it, you'll see that the Falcon updates more frequent. The mountain scene for example seem to move two times on the Falcon for each on the Amiga, most of the time.

Definitively one of the best demos available for Falcon 060
Thanks to TBL and Mikro!

So this is finally it then. Atari > Amiga after all these years. Now that you have 060 and TBL demos I mean. :O
cannot believe it :o) dreams come true... i luv it !!!
@evil how this is possible? at that video Falcon running on 060@66MHz and Amiga 060@??MHz ?
beside DSP for decoding MP3 music, does Falcon TrueColor chunk video mode helps to speed things up compared to Amiga?

Calimero, it's MP2 on the Falcon (DSP) and ADPCM (or so I recall) on the Amiga (CPU) so it saves up some time there, and the FastRam on the Falcon is quicker. There is no hicolour involved. I don't know how fast the Amiga processor was on the video recording.
Rulez massive!! I would love to see on the Falcon too!!!
Kickass original & kudos for the port.
WHAT. THE. FUCK.
awesome !
Utterly amazing Falcon port. Mikro rocks hard, indeed.
Sad, that this is just a port of Kalms code and thats why it's not pure Falcon demo.

Sure, Falcon port runs faster, but the 060 isn't the fastest CPU you can strap to a Commodore Amiga; a 604e is, and i'm sure that could make it go even faster again if silkcut was coded specifically for it ;-)
Not that i'm bashing either machine; Amiga rules, Atari rules.

Xeron: lol yeah but you couldn't resist posting something about it anyway :P
sure i posted, but i didn't bash either machine, so the statement is true.
I'd love to have a falcon, to be honest.

I know it's kinda late but here is what the stagemaster says (which is by the way taken from Gangs of New York, the figure is also correct with its high hat) - sorry still have to watch the movie, I just did the research yet about what the actor is called (Daniel Day Lewis) and what he says from a youtube video and the transscript:
On my challenge, by the ancient laws of combat...
...we are met at this chosen ground...
...to settle for good and all...
...who holds sway, over the Five Points.
Us Natives, born rightwise to this fine land....
...or the foreign hordes defiling it!
Here is the video (so far) and the monologue from 1:46:
