the mag engine is good, the reviews on games and pixel art are also good. having translated versions is cool (although i didn't check their quality of translation, the english one seemed good)

i kinda don't even want to comment on this, because honestly there's nothing here even worth considering or thinking about, or evaluating critically. i mean that's apparent from just the editorial, but also try reading the "colonization" section; it's an incoherent mess that doesn't even come close to making a point, let alone arguing for one successfully.

perhaps it's in part the english translation, but this is text clearly aimed towards "outsiders"—hence why i expect so many different translations exist—so i'd expect more attention to be put into actually writing something worthwhile. not that any of these arguments or political viewpoints convincing at all. strawmen all the way down.

this is not worth anyone's time, and not worth drawing any attention to. there's nothing wrong with writing—even in demoscene context—about political topics, but this degree of sophistry combined with whining about others not coming to agreement with your poorly argued reprehensible politics is pathetic.

Look, I may also not fully agree with some of the more controversial stuff this mag has (the bits about Ukraine specifically - even if the last issue had a couple hit pieces against Russian propaganda, too), but I've already read a few magazines that one would consider downright preposterous, so I knew what to expect.

If anything, some of you guys sound exactly like the kinda people who, after all the... criticisms about politics, would gladly make *anything* political. As long as it's about the "right" politics.

In general, I have no problem with mags being controversial and portraying a variety of opinions. But justifying a war of aggression (where people I know personally get displaced, maimed and killed) is a no-go. It devaluates the whole production, the rest of it simply ceases to matter. And now I'll follow Noby's wise advice and stop, so that this barrel of honey with a spoonful of shit (which turns the whole honey into shit) stops getting even more attention.

i'm sorry but the quality and nature of the politics do in fact matter. do you imagine that just because some like myself welcome political topics intersecting the demoscene, it should all be accepted with open arms, without any criticism, disapproval or condemnation? this is a rhetorical question, i don't actually care about how you would answer the question. but the fact is that if your politics involve hostility towards me or people i care about, i have no inclination of just ignoring that and putting it aside.

What's a bullshit? A total lie. The brainwashed Soviet spectrumies are the shame of the Scene and the shame of Russia. Now they're old farts who remember their happy Soviet childhood, but don't realise that all their cheap Spectrum clones were assembled by their fathers from factory stolen parts.
Lies, theft, corruption and lack of freedom of speech were part and parcel of the USSR, but our Spectrumies were kids and knew nothing about it. They're still kids!
