Madness!
unbelievable!!!
Holy shit!
this is so stupid… i love it
Madness indeed =]
Technically most entertaining old school demo so far in the scene history.
wait, what?
Great!
what the hell?
What noby and branch said.
what noby said
Kewl hacking!
Insane in the midbrain !
This is intense, what an awesome idea.
What is this I don't even
hell yeah!
Unbelievable!
mindblowing!
Savage!
awesome
Cool demo done only with a C64 diskdrive fucking crazy
What preacher said
impressive
Bonkers!
Insane, thanks Quiss! This must be the first and final floppy demo.
Hats (and pants) off! Crazy!
Rules!
what is this... i dont even...?!
great stuff, real hardware hack attitude.
is the tune by kb composed for the floppy or is it a conversion?

You mad people are doing mad things! Me likes! <3
Wtf. Thats awesome! Quiss, nice to see you back!! :). Great idea and execution....
What?!
Creative idea, although I feel most people above are impressed mostly because they don't know what's in an 1541 and never heard the floppy drive music programs back in the day :)
wild at its best!
Haha. What can be done must be done.
Wow.
1541+1084=1337 does not compute
what the heck
epic
What’s going on??!?
Well this is just excellent
this is so cool !
Wicked!
When we thought we had seen everything... :O
you mad!
hella impressive

I know it's got at least a 6502 in it, and I've heard floppy drive "operas" before but I'm impressed because this:Creative idea, although I feel most people above are impressed mostly because they don't know what's in an 1541 and never heard the floppy drive music programs back in the day :)

Nah, we‘re impressed because the 1541 has even less video hardware than a 2600, and it still works :)
Amazing! Very nice idea.
Forgot the thumb, sorry!
This is wild!
When you think everything was done, THIS happens.... :D
Fucking great...
Achievement. :)
Are the chip arpeggios done with the drive head?

This was just wow. Super clever and awesome! Thank you for this one. The C64 guys present at Gubbdata all agreed on that we now need to talk about before and after this demo. We now live in a new era.
Great idea and execution :)
It was nice to see this in the Meteoriks 2022 awards ceremony.
Yeah!
I can feel the suffering that the poor stepper motor must endure while running this, but ... damn! This is so good. Not only for hack value (which is already way off the charts), but the demo itself is also more than decent, and the presentation in the video is just perfect.

So if it's so trivial, why didn't anyone else do it before? Why didn't you, for that matter? Sounds like you're really grasping at straws to seem cool and unimpressed.
Reflex released a new demo! Life is good again!
That was really unexpected, now I'm just waiting to see the Chaos/MrPet combo releasing on amiga again. Hey, dreaming is free.

Wtf.
Pretty bonkers project! I especially love the seemingly-live cable patching in the video! :)
Nice music
Utter madness. <3
Amazing!!!!
Signed in just to Thumb.

Amazing !! Pure RULEZ !!
REAL WILD
unbel-evil-able
kicks ass!
Excellent! Very cool idea skillfully executed.
Mental and wonderfully futile, basically embodies what the demoscene is about for me :D Fantastic work!
Yeeeeah!
Gee, when will these damn floppy drives get equipped with a proper amplifier. I mean, isn't that standard these days?!
Seriously, you're bloody mad. MAD I say!

Awesome!
Amazing !!!
What the...? Why...? How...?
First I thought this must be a fake... ...but there is this write up :D Unbelievable, simply great.
Holy shit... First i thought what the hell is this guy doing there (disconnecting power, the c64, cutting cables...) and a few seconds later this blown me away!
I think it uses the bytepatterns on the disk... but... no, that can't be the only thing. I have no idea how and what this basic program does (i dont think it's something like a firmware for the 1541).
Just unbelievable amazing idea, concept and design... This prod must be nominated for the best tech/wilddemo.

That one, is a WILD demo.
someone published how Freespin plays music on a floppy disk drive
Just crazy.
Cutting the cables in the video was a nice touch, although it's of course done way beforehand.
What I'd like to know is how would one debug this... how to even get started when something does not work. Is it just done one small increment at a time?

Moved the term rules up to a new level :)
Not only a totally bat shit crazy idea but also an incredibly well executed demo. My only gripe is the poor audio recording on the video, because let's face, I doubt I'll be running this real time anytime soon.
Wild!
Mind-blowing! UBER-RESPECT! Not only the awesome tech but also effects themself were really good. Jaw-drop 100%!
No (not too many) floppy drives were harmed in making this prod.
This is some cool stuff!
While the idea and hardware stuff is neat, what impressed me most is the amount and diversity of effects. I did some experimenting with a platform of similar capabilities (1MHz microcontroller where I generated the entire videosignal in software) and let me tell you, it's not easy to come up with effects that works when you have an X-resolution of about 10 pixels or so! :)
I wonder why this only has black and white though, with 2 pins I generated sync/black/grey/white, hardware-wise it seems like the same could have been done here..?

The write-up (link in previous comments) is juicy and the attention to detail is what makes this rise above a "clever hack".
Nice. :)
Awesome!
Now that the initial shock has passed, I'd like to comment using more that one word, to point that on top of the technical feat demonstrated here, I really like the originality, the screaming insanity in doing something just as crazy as it is useless and therefore so demoscene, the effort put into doing a write-up, and last but not least, the sense of presentation and the deadpan humour used in the video.
This sure is one prod I will remember a long time.

yeah, this is wtf level maximum. love it :D
Boundaries of a nearly 40-year old computer still being pushed, kudos!
\:D/
👍
Insane
The idea is awesome, the live presentation is great, and technique of streaming the pixels from the drive is just ace - as is are the pre-recorded screens. Hats off, and congrats for the already safe Meteoriks Award :-)
Kudos for bringing a new platform to the demoscene. The 1541 drive
c64s? Where we're going, we don't need c64s!
Loved it!
Loved it!
wow, this is an amazing technical milestone
true demoscene spirit!! well done!
Exquissit 😜✌️
<3
Cool!
Crazy stuff! you just invented a new demo platform!
Best demo for peripheral device I've seen. Thanks!
p.s. as C64 owner I wasn't sure it is possible to get composite out of 1541 with such quality. You've done that. Very impressive.

this belongs into the all-time top
What ferris and kusma said!
sehr sehr geil
You just made the impossible, possible and invented a brand new category. Bravo to you.
That's some true thinking outside the (bread)box.
Flawless victory!
The idea alone is brilliant (how did u came
Up with it?) and the execution is just wild!
You just powned the scene!
Deepest respect!

Wow!
By far the most innovative thing Ive seen in years. Tinker with something for long enough, something like this will happen. Mind blown.
I'm in ecstasy! Now that this is done it's clear it had to be done. Lovely demo too that stands on its own.
A side discovery: I never knew kb is the same kb of The Obsessed Maniacs. For some reason was certain they were unrelated, such a different vibe. Cool.

Mindblowing! could be only a very good technical only demo, but it's also artistically very good!
really original
crazy!
unexpectedly nice! very clever and original!
WHAT
FDD music alone deserves a huge thumb up, not to mention everything else.
Having the idea to save raw monitor inputs into a floppy and pulling that off is mental! Great work!
Such a great take on the obvious, once you think of it. Might have won Revision Wild, on the other hand Gubbdata was 'about' C64 in a way Revision Wild could never be. Good stuff and wise choice. :)
Great idea and perfect execution!
