Yea!
ahh finally <3
Zine weekend reading!
Several interesting articles, some less interesting articles, but overall a very solid package.
thanks. nice to see a lot of content and awesome music. the only thing missing is a demoscene-related cartoon-section!
it's been a long while since i didnt turn off music for a diskmag, and that's saying a lot.
(i wish i could change the speed of the transitions though.)

Great edition!
i have only seen the online version, and it's already awesome
Finally it's ready! Well done.
very nice (and nostlagic !) articles !
Haven't read it all yet, but this is just the way it should be! ...and what Gargaj said! ...hmm... I'm getting all jazzy and smooth in my old scene days.. gotta fix that..
one thing i'm going to complain about is the technical side - i'm pretty sure it could be smaller than 130mb and i sorta dislike the way the whole thing is packaged (as opposed to the previous "just one executable" issue)
It's because no one wanted to delay the release anymore.
Yeah, the partyreport from evoke 2009, finally... :-)
The "Soliloquy" article seems to miss one page :O
We waited long for it, maybe too long - but its great again !
What else than thumb-up? Those few arts which I've read deserve it, and still there's lot more. Thanks for bringing this for us!
yeah!
zine!
A *REAL* scene magazine :)
(but I miss the good old "news & rumourz")

finally! :D
Great work all round. Loved the presentation, the opening intro and pic. The music is outstanding and the writing is very professional.
I didn't really find many articles of interest, except some of the the making of ones. The Rupture and Happiness Round the Bend articles were especially interesting as I've been wanting to know about Navis' creative processes for some time. I'd like to read more like this.
On the whole, great mag!

nice work
also: music!
Yey, Zine is out and I know what to expect. Lovely evenings of dwelving into the minds of sceners talking about the scene or their times spending on doing some of the best demos. Those making of articles are so interesting to read. Kevin Mack interview was interesting. GPU based texture generation was interesting to me too. A lot of stuff I leave to read for another evening..
.
♥
My first words was: 150Mb, WTF? this is a HDDiskzine!
But after smooth running it at my quite old PC i can say only: AWESOME. Thank you for that issiue! Music is very pleasant, design is cool and articles is iteresting!

Very nice, thanks for the OS X version.

very little content for 2,5 years... sure, it beats hugi in every aspect, but that alone is not enough for the upthumb
<rant>For all intends and purposes, this looks and feels like a glorified screenshot viewer (150 MB, wtf?), with stiff layouts, a font that is hard to read and that looks terrible in fullscreen, no click-able links and many other things that a proper layout engine (which I would expect from people, who are dedicated enough to still produce diskmags in 2010) would fix. Contents are ok-ish, but not exactly overwhelmingly awesome, both on the quantity and the quality side of things.
So a piggy for the intro and the music, but the rest was rather lackluster and in many ways a throwback to the pre-1995 era of diskmags. </rant>

Hmm,. interesting rant. I wondered about the size too and then tried to see the contents, some dxp files, several big for each article, could it be screenshot viewer instead of an engine with rendering the fonts and images and all that stuff?
Not that I cared much since I purely enjoy the articles. Now I am gonna go to my favorite place to eat all day brunch breakfast meal and go with my asus pc laptop. I hope the engine works fine there too, to read some more of the make of just before coming back home and working (fuck,. I still have to work on my thesis project, lol. I'd wish I could code demos now :P)

I thought the quality of the interface was a bit low. It felt a little sloppily done. However I enjoyed many of the articles and the editing is top-notch. I missed the features Tomæs mentioned. Then again you also released a Mac version therefor it's a thumb up. Thanks a lot! :)
Great articles, lots of great music (especially enjoyed willbe's jazzy number) and worked flawlessly on my Mac, interface was a bit boring this time though, but the article layout and editing is spot on as usual, nice job thanks for the reading material :)
Kudos on finally finishing it - a very nice content-package - many nice reads all around! The music is fitting and overall it was enjoyable.
However.. I do echo the sentiments of some other commenters here. Technically and artistically this has taken a turn for the worse since the last issue. This one has very hard-to-read text, the layouts seem emtpy and repetitive, and overall it just looks and performs pretty badly, which is a shame :/

Oh, and the content-thumb :)
what Gloom said.
Finally!
end of 80s, early 90s i bought(?) some lines for adverts for swapping and blabla.
Nice articles in the technical section, also some in the report section - but editorial section seemed a little bit too 'meta' if you know what I mean :) No, I don't want to know what it's like to be a zine editor - I'm quite happy there's some other cool sceners doing it *instead* of me! :D
Nice music except the jazz piano tune (argh!!)
(p.s. if the scrolling isn't smooth in next issue you will get a piggy!! ;)

I have not tried the exe version, just the online edition but some articles about how some demos&intros were done are quite interesting. So thumb up for the content.
Thumbs up!
great interview with kevin mack, thumbs up for just for that :)
slide-show-viewer or not, the content (text and music) simply rules. and the layout is also very slick. only downside is that the font is badly aliased and ugly at 1920x1200 (window and fullscreen) mode.
Really nice! It has some very interesting articles.
<3
4klang article gave me a boner!
At last! :)
I only checked a few things so far but it's already worth a thumb up, good work Axel et al.

Music is good, articles are a fine read. Enjoying Navis and EvilPaul's stuff, will get to the rest later. My one complaint is the text rendering is kinda bad at 1920x1200, what was your target resolution?
Wow, a Mac port of a diskmag?! That's unheard of! (I know, I checked the prodlist).
great diskmag and great with a linux / mac port =)
frankly the interface aint as nice as the last two editions, but still looks good and the articles i skimmed through were nice!
Finally released! Yeah! Downloading...
coool mag!
Kewl magazine with interesting articles and with an ass kicking interface! The font could be a bit more anti-aliased though since it has some sharp edges, which tire the eye, on my machine...
Well done!
Some interesting bits among what felt like gossip blogs entries. What happened to the pictures zoom feature ?
iPad port plz!
add text-zoom while add it aswell plz :) tnx !
good issue, good music ! code needs some added features for the 10years-tUM-Edition ;)

Nice articles!
Great! Extra thanks for the Mac and online versions!
thumbs up, prowler
Nice one :)
It's probably the first time ever that I thumb-up a diskmag. Several interesting articles there, and also props for no delay between the executable and the online version.
Thumb up because it was obvious a labour of love getting this done. tbh I'd rather they stuck with the radioshow instead, something "fresh" for the scene that is probably a lot less of a hassle logistically.
very pleasant diskmag experience.. once again!
Damn, totally missed this! Was thinking not long ago that there should be a new issue too :D
Quick look during lunch: good stuff. Nice UI, tunes are good (and fitting for reading too), articles look excellent. I've read the gpu texgen & smash/evilpaul articles, both were interesting + well written.

Great content! Nice direction! And multiplatform...
up!
Axel: i am so looking foward to the new zineradio then !
but i would miss the exe if you stopped it completely !
so just do em both until we all get too old to do it anymore ;)

There are some shortcomings (extreme filesize, ui stops rendering on vidmode resets, weird keyboard behaviour, no proper alternative for a missing mousewheel), but music and articles are well-chosen. Keep on!
<3
zine!
interesting!
ach ja
Thanx for OSX version!
Wat. I never thumbed that one?
Zine is pretty good, from a journalistic point of view, but it has its drawbacks in design and technical issues. And the contents are actually not *too* interesting...
sure, adok, sure!
Forgotten thumb
it seems that real design survived only in diskmags.
Good indeed.
Everyone may have its point of view, Hardy!

8-9 years later and I totally feel the story of Fish, sharing time with family, a secret room full of old computers and business as usual. I just have half the number of kids he presented on the picture ;-)
Gosh.. great design, good articles even after years. So sorry to see that it wasn't continued.

Music is ace in this one! Font still way too small.
Thank you Axel, Menace and all others who worked on this!
