A must have for a c64 collector. All the 3D you can eat, including phong torus, torus inside, tunnel, textured cube, and two Wolf3D parts with effects mapped on the walls. But wait, there's 2D too, like fire and julia morph. Effect nirvana.

My prefered demo ...
The best i had seen.
I am a little jealous to see some effects impossible to do on the ORIC ... :-( Like the chessboard scroll with the text scroll on it ... GRRR

THE reflex demo. If you missed the last 5 or 10 years of C64 demoscene history, here is the summary.
One of the best demos ever on the C64, just plain amazing code!
Yep, amagzing demo. Must've been coded by a genius :)
could be the best Reflex demo on c64 though i love Access Denied the same!
the design it's here, atmospheric music yes you got it, both good looking and complex effects and graphics are on high level - a classic piece of nuskool on c64!
great, great, great.

Just great! It's amazing what people do with a c64! You just have to see it in order to believe it!
I was numb for a very long time after watching this, Or well that infact A lie .. I Was making weird noises caused by the shock this demo gave me :) .. This Is simply one of the nicest c64 productions ever .. no doubt
I just realized that I gave my first comment before the thumbs-system was enabled, and if any demo deserves a 'rulez' it's this one!
my deepest respect to reflex members.
"thes demo took us two years of developing"
...and it was well spent time imho!!!!
RULEZ!!!, a classic!!!

The start is rather boring, and the music could have been better... But oh my goodness, some of the effects are INSANE! :-) (I mean, Julia morpher on the C64? :-) )
one of my favourite. I love this Demo.
Actually, when I download the ZIP, all I have are 8 files called "1!mathematica1" up to "4!mathematica2". There are no "d64" files, and I've not idea how to load that demo using ccs64.
Any help ?
Any help ?
You can make a .D64 of those file using a utility called 'starzip' I think.
dbug: those are 2 c64-disks encoded as 'zipcode'.
i use zip2d64 for converting... it's not convenient or anything, but it works :x
Dbug: Use c64copy for converting those files to 2 D64s.
i watched many other c64 demos first before this one - mainly because of the weird format mathematica is distributed in. now i am utterly amazed... they do the same effects everybody else attempted to do (tunnel, phong torus, wolfenstein clone) - except they did it RIGHT: really fast and really colorful, and they even added a few gimmicks.
btw, if you don't want to mess with zipcode, i uploaded the demo as (win)zipped d64 here. (hope that's fine with the developers - how's the copyright situation?)

Ok, jazz, thanks for the link.
Now, call me dumb, but I _never_ understand how to change floppies using CCS64 ! I press F9, select 1541 drive 1, select mathematica1.d64, enter, it go back to the "c64" screen, and write "searching/loading", and then "turn disk". What the fuck ?
How can I change that disk ?
What the difference between "boot/load/load fast"... those C64 emulators are made for people that know how to use a C64, noone care about explaining how to actually watch those demos for people that never got C64 before. The best proof is this mathematica that is in a weird format, and even do not have a txt/nfo into the zip file :'(

You have to select the disk with f1 (in the dir view).
The target group for emu coders are usually people who have used the original hardware. You should consider using vice instead of ccs, since it's easier to use for 'not-familiar-with-a-real-c64' people.
Oh, and RTFM might help too.

I finaly manage to get it working. And it rulez.
But to get back to the emulator, you should know that The fucking manual actually does not explain you that if you select the d64 file instead of booting it (meaning you see the list of files on it), you cannot (I do not find how) change the floppy later.
Since I never boot on the floppy, but always run the first "prg" of the file list, and since it workes most of the time, I never figured I was doing it the wrong way. In general when you do it wrong it never worked. Not here.

Ofcourse you can change floppys later if you boot them.
I can't believe it... really haven't voted yet. So here we go. :)
zipcode ain't any weird format, its how all c64 warez were distributed a while ago (first on BBSes, then internet).. its diskimage format c64 can handle itself.
Simply amazing. Back in the mid 90s it was probably by far the best C64 demo and even today it can compete with the best newer demos.
see all above ;)
kool
now that was sick
brilliant demo and brilliant music
I select D64s on CCS64 with F4 and with Enter I boot them.
Man I swore I thumbed this, I meant tho thumb this, this should have been thumbed. Like, way up.
damn - how the hell did i miss this on pouet? two solid thumbs up! :=

@___@; after seeing the amazing backtro on CPC
I enjoyed this a lot.

Still my Fav C64 Demo!
Can't believe this has 0% popularity. It's a real classic! It's something like Second Reality on PC and Desert Dream on Amiga.
I thought I did thumb this one up already. Apparently I didn't. Now I do. Because it totally rocks!
Hardcore effects show wins!
Rocks! Did I never vote for this alltime-classic? Shame.
of course ...
really impressive code work and music here. powerfull classics.
*gasp* .... bow down!
this shit rocks, i drove us mad back in the days... how fine c64 demo can be?
fantastic c64 demo! i can't believe what they managed to get out of that breadbox!

Monster!
I will never ever forget how I first saw this demo on TP95. Rules eternally.
diden't work that well in my emulator :(
So AWESOME!
I've liked really much the part of the "cracked game"
Let's crack something and add our intros! (ehm... What shall we crack? We aren't in the 1995 more plus :P )

I was there at The Party 5, it was a mindblowing show :D
This demo really rocks! Even nowadays! Sometimes it's hard to believe its release date.
rocks!
The second half of this gem is simply unbelievable. Full screen high speed madness and excellent tune. Can't wait to see this on my new real machine.
Breathtaking
Sorry. It does not work well for me.
Worths a thumb up. Definitely.
utter awesome
pvcf rules :)
Great!
I was totally floored when I first saw this, seemed impossible on a C64 back then. Still great.
Still a killer demo.
Some amazing code here!
anyone noticed kbs sneaky selfthumb?? what a lame move! ;)

Great demo
Classic 90s coderporn. How did I not thumb this up yet?
Ace demo!
Forgotten thumb...
massive prod with still one of the best demo soundtracks ever
Great. Great fire and the texture mapping kills me.
Thanks for popping up another missing vote.
One of the best C64 demos by far, the 3D Maze part lowkey sounds really cool on my machine with a 6581 R2 SID chip installed. The effects are still impressive, even 25 years later (this demo is older than I am!)
nice one
especially fast wolf 3d
especially fast wolf 3d
Great one with fantastic music!
One of my favs!
Great stuff
Long forgotten thumb!
Why did I forget to comment on this great demo? Shame on me, I am a sinner!
This is an inspiration for all 8 bit coders. Mad effects. A must see!

Back in 1995, this demo provided great motivation for me. The feeling I got of "everything is possible" was sooo great...
Impressive, still!
