Rules! It almost got boring when flying through the city, but then the asteroids saved the day and the rising phoenix was a beauty

Wonderful show.

Did the ASMorg stop playing it before it reached the end though? If so, fuckings to ASMorg :-)

Not the best conspiracy production but not a bad one either. The forest and the city became a bit boring but the end saved it!

Good 64k-DEMO, with eyecandys, a good story and well fitting music. This intro is worth to update my processor now (insteed of next year). :)

For the idea and the execution. I didn't really like the Armageddon meteors though, even if they looked nice, they were directly taken from the movie. And somehow I'd preferred if the intro had stopped when the Phoenix egg hit the ground. The feeling sort of went down after that. And why didn't we see more of the bird?

HOLY SHIT!!!
Crappy design I thought, but that could be because it was very slow here (but this is an old computer) and the atmosphere is diminished somewhat as a result. Has some really great parts graphically - music & synth aren't as great. Over all quite enjoyable, well done - again, guys.

nice to see a decent cns prod again. the loading screen already deserves a thumb up:)

you guys seem to have one single vision in mind, and all your intros are different manifestations of that same thing. it's kind of similar to what I felt about visualice demos.

It will be interesting how farbrausch is going to beat this ;-) (I hope the'll try!)

The begining has too much kitsch. City, explosions and phoenix are great!

but I still prefere Project Genesis and Beyond...

Apparently I forgot to indicate the 0wnage prior to now.
Clearly I (we?) have been spoiled by some awesome 64k work in the past couple years...because this one really doesn't do it for me. Props to Conspiracy for the time spent, but it has the least effect on me of all their intros. Maybe I had high hopes because their new tool looks so powerful in Beyond.

Anyway, still have to give it thumbs up, but it won't be staying on my hard drive.

Takes over zoom3's position as best 64k.

And arneweisse; you are a retard - do you really think there is room for properly modelled objects?

The city was very impressive considering this - not just boxes and such but buildings that actually looks like buildings.
rulez added on the 2004-08-10 09:43:43 by sasq sasq
Zoom3 never had the position of 'best 64K'. Perhaps in your world.. But I for one thought it was excruciatingly ugly and therefore have selected a certain FR 64K as 'best'. So don't speak for the masses, thank you.
added on the 2004-08-10 10:23:36 by superplek superplek
Who said I spoke for the masses? Comments are usually used to express opinions, and that's what it was - an opinion.

Never the less, for me it's more important that something is technically impressive then well designed, but lets not start that whole discussion again :)
added on the 2004-08-10 10:29:58 by sasq sasq
I love it. It crashed on my system when meteors hit the city, but someone told me that this intro worked on my machine in Assembly. So maybe I try again some other time.

Yeah, right - because that's how everyone else does it? That it is the posters opnion is implied already, don't be stupid.

cool!
rulez added on the 2004-08-10 12:25:02 by taimme taimme
Sasq: So you mean you should do stuff that looks like shit because you cant fit in anything better, and then it's good?

I don't get it, I've seen plenty of cool looking 64ks, but this is not one of them. I dont like lowres generated meshes that you can see the hierarchy of filters applied by just glancing at it.

Sorry, but if you want to make something cool in a 64k make sure you dont just add boxes in your editor and apply some modifiers on it, it's nothing cool unless you can make it look *good* (read: get insane graphicians like farbrausch).
added on the 2004-08-10 14:47:13 by Hatikvah Hatikvah
On top of that, the most entertaining and 'good looking' visuals I've seen were not a product of of dull striving for "graphical realism".

Subtract an 'of' there if you please.

There's good stuff (like the beginning and the big explosion) but also way too much dull flyby action, especially over the city. Looking forward to an improved final.. :)

Very nice.... except for the tree limbs rearranging themselves and the way the explosions fade too fast so you can see nothing happened, it was great.

I do notice that in 640x480, the cityscape first appears looking like rainclouds, but at higher resolutions it's definitely a city. The effect is still impressive, though.

Is there going to be a sequel, about that phoenix?
rulez added on the 2004-08-13 16:09:55 by crusader crusader
same thing here... the city looks blocky in a strange way when it should be blurred at 640x480, but at higher res is looks nicely blurred. ALso, i noticed on higher res that you see some very nice film grain / dust effects at the beginning... not sure if its visible at lower res or if i just didn't notice.

The intro rules apart from a few very small things, like there being no damage to the buildings after the meteors hit... add some damage, or hide it with smoke as crusader said. The tree z-fighting was only slight on my machine... maybe its a driver/hardware thing?

somehow i was very let down by this... the comet in the beginning is okish (fuck you guys. now i have to rethink the universe, part 3 ;-D), the city was, designwise ok (the buildings and the structure had a 'real' city feel) but lacked 'something'... the ruins were nice but the comets impacting the city were a complete letdown. there was no force, no sense of massive destruction, no 'scale' to the whole scene... looked like something from 1997.

somehow it all felt really juvenile to me... sorry guys, but this is a 'piggie', very close to 'sucks'... (since i know you guys could do way better stuff)
added on the 2004-08-15 11:31:33 by uncle-x uncle-x
uncle-x yeah i feel kinda the same about the meteors, fact is that i've been worrying about them all the time, and they have been pushed off to the last minute, and done in ~2 hours... When we arrived in Helsinki, there weren't even any explosions, they just went thru the buildings.
Wait for the final ;)

Really _great_ successor to project genesis!
The 'nature' theme was a bummer if you also know the '3d mark' benchmark demo parts!!
Now it's almost looking the smae in just 64k...
You _are_ totally crazy guys! ;-D

The meteors were a little 'rushed' it seemed to me! (As people already wrote here as well before!)

So I'm _very_ excited about the _final_ here again! (As you already showed everyone what you can do to a really perfect 'project genesis' in an even (unbelievable) better 'final' release of it!! ;-D
Go, BoyC, Go Conspiracy....go, go, go...

Ahh...and btw...next time I want to read a c.a.p. tv greeting in the list as well, please! ;-DDDDD

Oh damn, this has got to my favorite conspiracy prod so far (which is saying a lot considering their previous productions).

The city focus portion was very well carried out. Additionally, the addition of "film grain" and some of the camera movements were really awesome =)

Only downside: the grass was rather mediocre at best, not matching the quality of the rest of the intro.

But honestly, DAMN. The explosion/shockwaves, the destroyed city, the whole atmosphere.... Great ending, and excellent execution.

Kind of made my computer break a sweat ;)

Hey, Gargaj, is it just me or has your synth really improved? ;) First conspiracy intro with very good sound fx/muzak.
rulez added on the 2004-08-20 10:26:31 by Nezbie Nezbie
not significantly.
some stuff was made easier, like chords and multichannel editing in general, but all in all it's basically the same thing as used in Beyond.
it's just that zoom was much more strict on the musicians considering sound - so far this intro has the most tracks in the "rejected/unused" dir :)
and of course everytime vinc added a new instrument, we completely mutilated it with inno so it actually sounds cool instead of being standard chippy :D

oh and before i forget:
EviL, please remind me where did i say anything like that about the RGBA intro.

imho the best scene was the 'aftermatch' one.. naturescene was nice too tho, because of the motion the leaves werent that horrid as i thought they were when i saw your screenshot, gargaj :)

in general, again the music sounds quite 'cheap', underaverage for common intros, however the coherency and nice visuals made this intro certainly worthwhile. So a thumb up!

Aaaand, next time notify me what theme you guys use, so we wont have the same stuff :DDD

boyC: i just got that crash, right in the middle of the asteroids bit where the asteroids are hitting the buildings. It crashes, but the music continues until you hit OK to get rid of the error. I ran the intro with no problems tho until I reinstalled a few days ago... so far as I know, i have the same gfx drivers etc as before. The system is dual xeon 3.0, 2gb ram, xp pro with latest updates (no sp2 tho), nvidia quadro fx 1000 (similar to gffx 5800 perhaps) with 61.76 drivers.

This was in the error log if it's any help: Faulting application prophecy.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module prophecy.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00034cf7.

Let me know if you want anything testing, or just fire it through on email.

btw, the intro crashes at exactly this point.

And the filtering is not enabled at 640x480 for some reason too, which makes the blurred bits on the nature scene and especially the d-o-f bit with the blurred city in the distance look really pixelated.

The two scenes were really cool, inspite that not-enough detailed "demon-bird" at the end.
It rocks !!!
just a little thing : while we watch the eclipse the sky becom red, but when we watch the town again been destroyed the sky is always blue, it's just a little detail ;)

Hurray! Hurrah! It now works for me!

Another fine Conspiracy effort. Maybe the phoenix model at the end is a bit bony, and of course the meteor is iffy, but other than that everything looks great. I especially like the natural scenes, including the trees and grass, even if they're not 100% convincing.

Attention to frame composition was also noticeabley improved, something which previously I only felt Moppi put in serious thought.
rulez added on the 2004-09-12 03:25:00 by sea_monkey sea_monkey
Cool, finally managed to see this. Loved it, superb work guys :)
As a side note, there's a small bug I noticed while some scenes ran at a very low framerate: the sky seems to be updated with 1 frame delay. So when there's a camera transition the first frame after that is being rendered with the old sky.

The thumb:

mmm.. i think they deserve a thumb-up if i look onto this from the point of view of a scener.. yet, it lacks something. it tries to look realistic and fails by a great deal - the trees and grass are too static and the city seems to be dead already - skyscrapers are too much of concrete [try adding glass next time] and the city structure also doesnt leave massive impression - buildings are place too close each to other - no, this is not one of my favorite intros.

YEAH JUST MY FECKIN IMHO BTW!

- Very good textures
- Good models
- ok music (some good and some bad parts)
- not so good softsynth
- runs rather slow sometimes
- Well done, but rather boring design

As a counterpart of Genesis, it has similar strengths and weaknesses. I hope to see "A place called Earth" or "Beneath" someday.

Doh, almost forgot about this one. If anyone is interested, you can now check out the flash screenplay/storyboard/whatever that has been made for this baby here.
See what got in, changed or was left out of the actual intro due to lack of time or technical reasons (and what you might see ultimately in the final, which is kindof a "when it's done" project :D ), or just have a good laugh.

Just amazing : big thumb up !!

Just wondering : i just launched the demo on a C2D / 8800 GTS (Win XP) platform, and strange bugs showed up.
The tree leaves were blinking - if present. The same is true for the impact explosions onto the buildings, and the right wing of the phoenix wasn't burning. Strange, no ?

Other Conspiracy prods show bugs onto this configuration, Project Genesis being the ugliest. I'm wondering : is it the configuration, or is there some glitch ?
rulez added on the 2007-06-30 23:04:40 by essaion essaion
essaion: it's the configuration and it's a glitch :)

It's a problem with the particle engine, I'm having the same bugs on my comp (c2d, 7800gtx)
So the problem might show only on c2d. Or not...
We didn't recieve too many reports like this so we couldn't yet pinpoint the exact hw that has these bugs.

Although Project Genesis runs perfectly on my machine, and we didn't receive any other bugreports either, so I dunno about that :)

This is what is called DIGITAL ART!
This demo is awesome in every point of his production: music, animations, FX etc...
I was really scared by the scene of the big boom, and get curious by that creature in the end of the demo.
In short words, this demo ROXX!

It's so wrong to comment on this after seeing debris .. but this was 4 years ago and for the time AND filesize it's pretty impressive. There are glitches here and there (the rearranging trees, the nondestructing meteorites), the colors are too technical (like the grass is 255,0,0 in RGB) and the music doesn't fit very well IMHO but the apparent technical skills and many witty ideas (particle clouds, varied buildings, funky grass) and the whole idea all packed in 64k make this a nice production.

So my thumb up goes here:

Miko: So where is this fictional 'red grass', then? :)

Anyway, apparently never commented on this, so I would like to say that I quite liked it!

No comment from me yet? Oh well...

Might because it always left me a bit cold, and there's a lot to be desired in about every department (modelling, texturing, direction, music). Then again, what remains is definitely good, so belated thumb upwards. :)

Don't really know, honestly. I love the nature scene, some great direction and camerawork there and in particular the transitioning into the segment. The rest is a tad dull and not engaging. Some of the music cues and direction related to them don't make much sense though, which leaves me wondering what the underlying message is. Sometimes it can be a powerful tool, but I was mostly just left confused. Maybe I'll see it another way upon further rewatches.

The end scene still looks like a Alf+Dragon hybrid, but besides this I love it :P ;-)

noby: I don't think you will, this one didn't age well :) Back then it may have worked as a bruteforce crowd-pleaser, but the direction is very haphazard and wannabe. Though I'm still proud of the post-apocalyptic end scene (not the bird).

I like it. Was that some kind of a bird at the end, that awakens, out of the city left overs?
