musicians : your gear ?
category: general [glöplog]
Besides every audio software we know and use, what hardware instruments / components are you using ?
Many have sampled TB 303's and TR 909's back in the days, and a few nowadays use guitars.
Tell here your massive destruction tools.

Some years ago I had a good old GDR - made Vermona synthesizer:
I mean this pretty baby... :D

the discussion is probably old in the i-want-to-get-signed-at-warp-records-too scene, but i'm wondering anyway: is there any decent reason to use any hardware other than input stuff (midi controller, keyboard, mikes) and real instruments (for instance guitars)?
i mean, is there anything samplers and synths and effect boxes can do that a computer can't do for a much lower price and often much higher flexibility and ease of use?

At least their processing power won't run out, no matter how many hw-effects you have ;)
Skrebbel : indeed this is a good question.
Actually i'm switching from software to hardware.
Mainly because i aim to play live, and because i don't think being behind a laptop makes a decent show.
Also, using multiple hardware devices multiplies dedicated, ready-to-use control surfaces. It's a completly different workflow, with no bugs around. You sit and make music, without any stupid fan buzzing.
Just so you know, my own pretty babies are called Korg Electribe S and A, with a Denon DN-S1000 CD player and a Tapco 6 channels mixer.

I shall be giving an evil eye to skrebbel next party.
And a good one to wilbe.
My current hw is a Yamaha sy99, korg mono/poly and oberheim matrix 6. I'm trying to get rid of the matrix and get myself a roland jd800 and a SCI multitrak.
And some behringers are coming in next week so I can finally make something that sounds great on other speakers than my behringer headset (at 20 eur).

and a swedisk machine:
monomachine rox.
also virgill's bass does.
as for me, i use korg n5 synth which has typical korg's patches and a fender strat and a mixer and dynaudios to hear all the stuff.
pretty satisfied with that, don't want any hw "analog" synths. may be, nordlead2, just because of it's little stick which is soo nice for solos.

not that i would consider myself a scene musician, but i have'nt seen any software yet that could mess with my trusted mpc-60 sp12 combo beatwise. same goes for decent outboard eqs and dynamics. (no, i'm not talking about the bear-ringers)
your mileage may ofcourse vary..

about time you start attending those again then!
(may i suggest demozone?)
You may suggest everything to me, Eggy! Unfortunately, I'm having lunch in Derby that day for the races..but hey, I know this nice, cosy norwegian party coming up where your presence will be appreciated!
i liked you better when you lived in denmark!
I'm not claiming to be a musician but I like my Roland D-50 for when I crave good old italo chords.
I droped most hardware several years ago when VST's became attention worthy. With machines like albino2, reaktor, minimogueVA, absynth, clavius +remakes of old machines like the prophet5 i dont really need it. Only hardware im attracted to is NLIII, and i have one ordered.
