What a lovely invite! I totally dig the graphics and overall style. Creativity at its best! <3
Jesus Christ lads! What a trip! Bummed as hell I can't make it either! But fucking blow the roof of the E-Werk for me!!!
yes!
can't wait to see evilbot at the dailyshow!
Continuing the tradition of cute and unusual ideas executed with style! <3
Lovely style, great atmosphere and +1 for telling a story.
Fucking A
Not sure about rehashing Evilbot, otherwise this is a lot of fun. Hype!
love it!
<3 can't wait.
EvilBot Episode II – The Return

Evilbot should have won!!! Top entertainment.

Great style. :D
YEAH! Great graphics! Great invite overall. Rocks!

Absolutely great invitro.

Fun little demo, but it has that classic movie trailer problem where the first minute of interesting storytelling has to be followed by a second minute of catchphrases and flashy action (or in this case, even more catchphrases).
Don't mind the return of Evilbot. In fact, I think it's time to make a 10 foot version that can walk around on stage, making him Revision's version of Eddie.
See you at Easter :)
See you at Easter :)
Tunnel even longer? Nooooooo!!
supergeil
EVILBOT! This is great. :)
wonderful! both art and an idea
Cool concept, the artwork is excellent. Also damn that nfo deserves a thumb on it's own.
Yeah definitely. If you only watched the video, come back and check out the NFO. (I saw it earlier, it is impressive.)
Probably one of the best invitations I've seen.
This thumb goes to .... The .nfo! Wonderful prod and catchy tune. Fun idea and definitely an easy favorite with the theme! But to quote the title of my executable music track from 2014: "SCREW EVIL BOT! I'M WITH HAPPY!" ;-)
Just great....!
Cool idea & nice comic art ... but the voice recording is really fuzzy & seems to be clipping. A better quality mic & a pop filter would have really helped.
Also sometimes Evil-Bot's chin sometimes clips through his left shoulder in the 3D bit.

Great!!! :)
sheeeiiiit. You did it again guys! :)
The absolute high point of the compo yesterday
(but I noticed a lot of cheering is actually built into the soundtrack ... sneaky)

Wow, lovely!
Fantastic!
awesome!
jco: he did say "clipping" in "3d", not in the audio :)
Gargaj:
I'm pretty sure that's about the audio ;)

A thumb for the NFO and definately a thumb for the two 'newbie' reactions underneath the youtube video :)
I will be there to fulfill my civic duty and vote on evilbot.
Adorable :)
:)
Dear Mr. EvilBot
We feel that it is only appropriate that we express our gratitude for the time and attention that you have provided to our Easter party’s last couple of years. It has to be said that our demos and intros have never looked as good as they have on the main screen of E Werk in Saarbruecken. Many of our friends have particularly commentated on the impact that our releases have since winning Revision compos provided us. We would hope that you would be able to provide us with the same service again in 2016.
Regards the dSr team.

A vote for evilbot is a vote for the future!

Take this vote you evil bot!

jmph: it's not clipping. it's (intentionally) highly colored though. might be a bit loud in the mix, but well, getting done and stuff. mike for the jazz version was an md421, which is high quality but has a very special sound.
Fair enough. I wasn't listening on the best speakers so the distortion may have been on my end. I'll give it another try on my better sound system when I get the chance.
Forgot the thumb BTW.
great!
Loved the origin story, but the second half started to drag on a bit.
the plot twist!
Hilarious to watch live at UC 2015.
Great prod :D
Great prod :D
Yes! This was awesome! And, nice touch to put just a spinning cube on the screen behind evil bot =D
hehe. nice and looking forward to march
Lol nice
funny.
unity.
unity.
Aaaaah, a nice continuation of the tales of evilbot, anybody else want this to be a comic book series already? The demo is a little rough around the edges maybe, but the art style is very cool and music and sfx as well. I love the plot twist. Really good work on the lyrics once again! Revision 2016 - count me in! \o/
I expect a high number of java entries this time ....

At first it seemed like just a graphic novel in 'demo' form... but then I laughed. Great art btw.

adorable
this is the return of the evil bot!
Funny with style!
Evil-ReBo(o)t.
nice gfx done with fun n love and for the evil bot I add my thumb
Haha, made me laugh!
That was different. ;)
hmm
Nice story driven invitro, but not sure if i will go this year sadly
Hum. Just realised it uses Unity without mentioning this,.
ONLY UNITY, NO CUSTOM ENGINES
... AND DISQUALIFICATION WHEN ANYONE MENTIONS
numtek: at this point if you dont recognize the Unity setup dialog, it's your fault.
...or the directory structure.
I don't like it very much. Even if it got very nice graphics the music is quite boring with dull beats. Also, I can't feel any pacing. Nice idea to do "something else" but I miss demoscene flair with demoscene effects.
overrated, also annoying voiceover and generic music.
RULES
scumbag demomake: makes jokes about programming languages - uses unity :)
old evilbot joke is old. Please, kill him during the opening ceremony!
Quote:
the automatic thumb-down reaction purely based on that (sorry Hornet) isn't very well thought-through imho
With the attached evilbot picture, I'm pretty sure he intended it as a joke? :)
Also, if we want to have a discussion about Unity, sure, but perhaps the BBS is a better place for it.

His "real" thumb points upwards!
for teh dramah

there are 2 more soundtracks for the first part in addition to the default one. Use command line arguments.
Good shit! :)
hii:)
Yes.
With these long-awaited and welcome reforms Revision is shaping up to be better than ever this year. Top bot.
awesome cant wait to be there :)
Lacking a BBS-topic: Unity is fine, you just don't get points for rolling your own awesome engine/tool/sequencer/animation-system etc. But then maybe your content is awesome enough that you don't need the tech-points.
It's certainly a grayzone though, ranging from writing your own asm-language to shovelling stock-footage together in an Adobe program. But this being the demoscene, there's room for all of it \o/

I think you might be mistaken, or I'm just too much oldschool. Since I doubt either one is true I'll explain a bit more of why I wrote my last post.
I have no issues with Unity/Werkkzeug or whatever, but I appreciate clearity. Stating what kind of middleware you use is a must. Not just in the beamslide, but one should also incldue it in the demo itself. Give credit were credit is due.
Ofcourse finding out that Unity is used it trival in cases like this. But that point is moot. The fact remains that it is nice to inform your audience beforehand (or afterwards for all I care) that you weren't using your own codebase. What feautures you use and which you don't use bears no relevance.
I honestly think it is a bit unfair towards your competitors and towards your audience as well if you don't.
Did I already mentioned this is a kickass demo with outstanding music, artwork and storytelling?
(Oh and all standard disclaimers aplly, I really didn't ment to upset anyone, I like you all and let´s drink a beer or two at Revison)
jco: Thanks for the soundtracks. You do a lot of awesome stuff.
But that doesn't change my opinion or thumbdown.
For me personally that demo is just not demoish and doesn't fit to my personal idea of "the demoscene".

Using Unity just reminds me of making demo with the good old Flash, which was also never accepted as "real" platform for demomakers.
In the PC world we've come round in a circle unfortunately, making PC demos was about (ab)using the platform to tease out art&effects. And what's left in many productions (not all!) is making a show which main use is to please the crowd at parties. Using tools which automate this process as much as possible.
Yes there is still a lot of art, love, work and time involved, which is very respectable. But the problem is not Unity - it's that using these tools you don't make demos, you make animations started in a player.

Is that not the same as say Conspiracy using their Apex demo tool, or Still using Tool, or... etc. etc. etc.
Anyway, thumb.
lets cut the discussion short: PC suxx unless you code on bare metal avoiding all the tools/libs and OS layers.
it's ironic how a tool called unity can cause that much discord in our insignificant little scene! ;)
:D
RSI demomaker > Unity. :D
Everybody complaining about Unity being 'just a player' should make a demo in Unity to back up their claim.
fuckin' hilarious! (I mean the demo itself of course ;-)
neat!
i dont like this
Best invitation I've ever seen.
Great soundtrack, drawings and I liked the idea to announce party features politician style (you get the opposite of what was promised).
But....
....I start to understand why there is so much hate against Unity/Unreal prods. Compared to the other Demo in the compo, this is very weak in the effects department.
I'm not attempting to stab at this prod and call it soulless etc., just noticed it seems to be a common weakness of all commercial-engine prods I've seen. (Coders don't get scenepoints for writing effects against these engines, it may actually hurt their reputation)

r1g8: You can do effect fireworks in any engine, but I doubt this was the intention in this case. Take for example the Breakpoint 2006 invitation - it is very similar in style and done in a custom engine. Yet - surprise - it lacks any "demoscene effect". It's a matter of style, not engine.
haha, this is quite funny. i especially like the consequent german akzent!
Awesome !!!
Only Java no more C !
Only Java no more C !
