I did like it, mostly because it was clean, nicely synchronized with the music, and the colours changing to match the message was cool as well.
(Was relaxing to watch on the stream - everything else looked like mashed squares with random noise :-/)

Absolutely great concept. Making a 4k and telling a story with only 4 letters word is so cool. Very nice syncing. Enjoyed it on the fullscreen... gave some poetry to the compo.

Well, the plain backgrounds aren't a hardware error afterall, so not impressed. I've seen this concept done much better in the past.

@rby: I don't really know. Most of this was coded during the last two weeks, but I already had a good idea of the feeling I wanted to convey. I had the concept somewhere in my head since November, and kept gathering words I could think of, trying to make ideas and random sentences out of it. The blunt question for instance was a joke by LLB when he heard the idea. :)

This is not scene poetry. The reason scene poetry has a bad reputation is that 99% of it is filler: it's all about "how can I make this spinning cube look deep and meaningful?"
This is the exact opposite - everything in here, from the colours to the position and timing of the text, is done for a reason. That's something quite special when so much of the state of the art in 4Ks is about procedural generation, and finding the algorithms that happen to give the prettiest results. Kudos to Zavie for NOT giving in to the temptation to add unnecessary filler...

total winner in my book! this is the single most memorable prod from this year's easter party galore, and i sincerely regret getting my votekey at 10:04 in the morning, so my "fuck yeah"-vote was lost.

Or, to be somewhat more controversial: Those who call the lyrics/concept "nerdy" probably do that because it reminds them too much of their own awkward past that they've "grown out of" now. Well, good for you then; doesn't change the fact tho that the story being told in this intro is pretty universal.
Also, concept wise it kinda reminded me of Dramatic Pixels and that's good too :)

Yesterday I wrote a really long comment but forgot to post this. In summary I could say the usual, "what dechipher and gasman said".
It's always hard to explain especially in text why I like or enjoy something, especially when it's about something that touches me on a personal level. And I know most of you can relate to this on some level too, maybe not now, but in the past.
Personal reasons aside, I just love the cohesion with the text and the music. Very rarely I see it anywhere performed this well, let alone in the scene. About the concept, it isn't completely original but it's by no means done to death in the scene imo, and at least it hasn't been realized nearly as well as here. There's just so much sincerety here and it's exactly why I don't think it's feasible to comment this on any technical aspects. Anyone saying the concept has been pulled of better in the past, please show me, remind you this is a 4k intro.
Also, this isn't scene poetry, this is what scene poetry SHOULD have always been. Respect for doing something so sincere and emotional, something done in the scene way too rarely. I'd like to end with this realtively obscure citation because I think it fits here perfectly,
"The World Is SickSICK;(So Kiss Me Quick)!

But quite paradoxically, they would have been even more disturbing should the guy had not been single but engaged or married, and still going nowhere, struggling to pay his house, willing to change job but not being able to because of the financial pressure, being blamed by his wife for working late...

Regarding the 4k limit, luckily it fitted by just representing the data in a good enough manner and applying a couple of usual tricks, so it wasn't much struggle. This one really moved me when it was shown on the screen!
At first I thought it was okay but nothing special. Then colors changed, I noticed the way only 4 letters words were used, the funny story, and just one word: woah! Such a nice and interresting prod! Effects don’t make a demo, the heart has to be put in there. Furthermore they had to think in terms of 4-char words, and transitions and music are good.
