I thought the use of the shadow in the last scene was excellent.

Great introduction. i was like "yay, a story driven demo". But somehow it ended a little early. gfx and modelling were ace though.

Great style, colors and overall feeling, but too short.
That scanline just kicks ass! :) Really nice demo. The only thing missing: a text, or a fadeout, or something that “exits” the demo at the end.

Lovely little demo, I really liked the ambience, and especially the ending scene with "walking ghosts". There was more poetry in this single scene than in any demoscenepoetry-demo released <3

@Cons (and others) : All in all, one of the reasons why the demo is short is that I wanted to make it short. Maybe the frustration of the viewers is more related to the lack of polish at the end of the demo than to its actual duration?
@numtek : Wow, I am AMAZED how precisely you were able to understand our initial intention. 'Within the Mesh' meant precisely to be a first person extrapolation of the ASD original demo. We tried to find the right balance between a rip and a citation, between a story-driven sequence and an abstract ride. I'm glad you were able to appreciate that :)
@uncle-x, @Canopy : Unfinished or sparse ? Yes, indeed, the end of the demo would deserve more work, something that increases the pace and the tension during the last seconds :')
@a-move : your comment about the logo display goes directly to my heart :)

Indeed a bit more tension in the very end could have been cool, but it works well as it is imho.
The only thing for me: maybe the greetings would have been better in another moment (like the credits), to preserve the mood.

It reminds me of equally inconclusive 3ds mega-mesh walk-through demos of the 1990s / early 2000s, though this is a lot slicker and more polished looking, due to its "first-person version of Walls of Eryx" thing, which is pretty interesting too (which in turn is a reference that I never noticed).

by the way, i think the length of this demo is properly set, despite everybody complaining.
I also like the length. It manages to say everything it needs in it, the unresolved ending writes itself in the head of the viewer, or at least it did in mine :). I actually think it leaves a stronger impression this way.
I think more people should follow the example set by this prod. Set the mood, let the concept sink in, but don't overstay your welcome. IMO, perfect length.

A subtle production which creates an atmosphere very sucesfully, i like the music and mood, and those shadow figures were great.

Maybe it is because of my very old, updated Windows XP Pro. SP3 with its ATI Radeon 4870 video card (512 MB; PCIe; driver v9.4 since newer drivers cause Windows XP's clock to slow down with DVI and rare, random hard lock ups with videos, etc.). I had to use non FSAA, 1280x1024, no HDR, etc.
Overall, it was OK.

The weird pseudo-holographic effect, the handling of the surreal landscape -- great.
Storyline not so great, but eh.
The subtitle font was a bit too bold and the titles themselves could have used a little copyediting, but ignore the pedant (me) on that. ( ;
