KILLER soundtrack. One of the best demo soundtracks for a while.
Nice effects also. For me, this is the first time, when multicolor doesn't look like a mess where you can't see shit.
Very, very good demo. Congratulations!

Great one, though I am wondering in what screen to watch it so that it doesn't flicker. For example, the screenshot logo was misleading, I thought the Speccy invented new colours, but this is not how it looks on emul or even the real thing. Also, the youtube video seems to show this logo and all other screens with perfect new non-flickery colors. My question is how was the capture done? Is there an emulator that blends two subsequent frames to produce a "simulation" of how interlaced screens would look like? Or is there a real video screen that does the work and somehow it was captured from there?
rulez added on the 2011-08-29 00:17:05 by Optimus Optimus
Optimus - yeah, they probably did the capture with one of those emulators with "gigascreen" or whatever it is called enabled which blends two frames into one. Not at all representative on how it looks on a real machine.

eyecancer gallore. Also blocky/haöf-screen effects. Quite a step back from classic speccy demos for the benefit of more colors on some tvs/emulators.

As Shockwav3 said. Eyecancer. Typical emulator demo. Next time use tri-lace or quad-lace. More colors cheat. Real machines? Who cares. Emulators rules!

Shockwav3 & irwin - idiots. This demo works fine on the real ZX-spectrum, as well as http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=54207

BiTL: It may WORK on a ZX-spectrum, but it looks nothing like the video posted here. Flashing red and yellow every second frame doesn't get you orange - it gets you flickering red and yellow.
The sad thing is that many only view the video and get an unfair representation of how the demo looks (just read the comments to "mescaline synesthesia" and see all the "Oh, look at the cool colors, never knew the ZX had those" etc.). That is just not correct.

Both this and the other deMarche demos are great demos, but I really don't like that they are presented to the casual watcher in a form that just simply is not how it looks on the real machine.

i find this one good regardless of flicker. maybe you just need to get some crappy soviet tv to filter it

Awesome!!!!

Regarding to soundtrack i'am not consider with SQ. Track is good but it was very poor during party and even right now at home. It is too complex and very releated to volume of sound.

Beautiful! A real sequel to Mescaline Synesthesia! And all those rumours about flickering are unfair! If you use REAL hardware and a good monitor, flickering is very reduced and the demo looks similar to the video presentation. An emulator with the "No Flic" option disabled (or without any "No Flic" option) is NOT a real Speccy.

cool demo. a modern day demo, that pushes the standard zx spectrum's limits, works fine with tape, on a regular 128k +2, a very wide spread model. What more do you ask for?

heh, that video sure doesn't represent the real flickering ;)

Didn't like most of fx and the ending, but the music is fkin fresh. I just love that beats. Fairy picture is pure awesome. And overall very good quality at the spectrum again!
rulez added on the 2011-08-30 18:02:10 by diver diver
yep, it's flickering. but what's the problem? there was other demos in that mode in the past, which was done for the real hardware. and that one looks very readable even with flickering.

britelite, please say which video can represent the real flickering? is it possible at all to make that video?

as i can see authors doesn't want to mislead somebody. they just trying to bring his product to wider audience, nothing more.
added on the 2011-08-30 18:48:31 by diver diver
diver: a true 50fps video recorded either directly from a real machine or from an emulator without filters would probably be the best solutions
added on the 2011-08-30 19:31:23 by britelite britelite
britelite, sounds fair. Will see, i think authors will provide that video.

rulez added on the 2011-08-31 10:28:33 by ferris ferris
YouTube does not support 50hz video, so you can't make exact video rip, it will fold 2 frames into one anyway. So, stop talking weird things about this piece of art, based on YouTube video. Just watch this on real pentagon (which is the compo-machine on CC2012), and you'll see that "eyecancered" commenters are bullshiting.
rulez added on the 2011-08-31 20:41:27 by siril siril
unfortunately the flickering is terrible on a real pentagon..
added on the 2011-08-31 20:48:39 by britelite britelite
But still, I kind of like the demo anyway. And I have to say that the colorcombinations used for the interlacing are way better than in Mescaline, so thumbs up for that :)
rulez added on the 2011-08-31 21:05:59 by britelite britelite
I'm with Britelite this time. Yes, it is flickery but it does have a few very nice combinations of effects. I also like the music.
rulez added on the 2011-08-31 21:36:12 by Paranoid Paranoid
The screenshot and the youtube are rather "wishful thinking", but still the tune is great, the flow is great and somehow I like it. And it runs on standard Spectrum with Tape - and it gave me some inspiration, so thumb!

Music was not my cup of tea, i found it uninspired and dull.
