Maybe because it's like a 2005 era suspend demo with zero engaging ideas.

oh, didnt read the nfo :) ati here
rasmus: won't work. it's not really my fetish, it's CG sucking terribly and not letting me use more than 4 texture units from a fragment shader whenever a non-nvidia card is used. And moving to a customized shader management solution is not something achievable within one week till the dead-line..

Nice 3d visuals, a bit too much noise and filters, good music synced to visuals, but something is missing, something makes it forgetable.

Hey, don't you step into Kewler's shoes! =D

Rocking content, probably not that interesting rendering.
I'd say showing off that gray-red arch scene for so long was too much, there were enough content to make much more drama out of what you've got - but probably it's all my frustration and you guys just keep doing what you want to do! =)

overall it blows away any production from this year's tum for me. (And content-wise it's one of the best demos of the year indeed, i'd say it's a definite scene.org awards art/gfx/or whatever they call it now/ nominee)...

more contrast would improve the overall look a lot. if you spend more than one week on a demo you could really reach the skies

I like this. Nice music. The only thing I didn't like was the early flyby-scene went on for too long. Other than that - neat.

Solid prod with nice 2D overlays, but i missed the point of demo. I saw only some great models and scenes glued together without reason. A little bit short of any ideas. And I hear better Chaser´s music than in this.

still it is worth my so-so thumb.

jack-3d: there won't be one, I'm afraid. :( At least not before a certain party in the future. I need to rewrite heck a lot of code in order to get past the biggest block causing the incompatibility and that's out of question within time frame I currently have.

Nevermind, it won't run for me since I have an old ATI Radeon 4870 video card (512 MB):

"1. Demo will work ONLY with NViDiA video cards,
supporting a minimum of 8 texture units.
2. Demo needs at least 768 MB of VRAM and about 512 MB of
available RAM. Yes, it's that much content
..."

I watched the AVI video capture. It wasn't bad. :)

Nice music and artwork. The style is kind of like a mix of an Outracks and a Matt Current demos, which isn't a bad thing. But please, that SSAO... it's pretty bad. Oh well, one week ;)
rulez added on the 2012-01-04 16:46:11 by kusma kusma
Wow?! 10 days? You're kidding me, right? Quiteis amazing.

It's a little bit too chaotic for my taste. The 2d overlays are nice (I dig the font), but the 3d-text reminds me too much on this one.

And I'm puzzled that chromatic aberration can look extremely cool (esp in the ring/arc scene) but can completely ruin some other scenes.

Looking forward for what is coming "soon".
rulez added on the 2012-01-04 19:50:21 by pixtur pixtur
Pixtur: Montage, all artwork and a couple of last-call bugfixes took exactly a week. As for the engine, it's the third year it is in the workings. It's slowly progressing because of amount of time I can spend on it on a weekly basis, but it's starting to gain the shape I was envisioning for it from the start. It can only get better from now on :)

@kbi: .avi file has poor quality and youtube version is encoded once again by youtube itself. Can't you just put .mp4/.mkv file somewhere to download? :)
rulez added on the 2012-01-05 09:58:55 by AceMan AceMan
AceMan: I did upload a .h264 encoded clip to scene.org but it somehow did not make it to the public directory.. anyhow, the quality was still far from perfect, noise hurts the encoders :) I'll reupload it, let's see what happens

AntDude: it has nothing to do with being more awesome than, say, demos using redist from 2008. the files you were missing were libraries that are required to launch applications that were built with vs 2010 which I use for development purposes. the other demos you were checking were written with vs2008. it's that simple. :)

It is very skilled, which I like, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. But somehow, it does not connect with me on an emotional level at all. It's very solid, but I'd like to have a bit of unpredicability, strangeness and "realtime flavour" in my demos. It's hard to put into words, but somehow this is lacking a bit of soul.

no interesting effects. has chromatic aberration and depth of field (over used effects in general)... makes me wonder why I have a card that can do antialiasing at HD resolutions well if everyone's just going to blur it up and slow it down again.

In the news: we got a bug report from Pasy regarding a red screen problem. Long story short, if you have a fast GPU video card and experienced the demo going "red" after a minute or two, this build is for you.

The link has been updated to point to a version which should now work fine and dandy.

added on the 2013-10-13 18:04:29 by mog mog
mog: true, sorry but can't do anything about it - the incompatibility stems from the fact I used Nvidia's CG library in the demo that the only thing it has to offer to other vendors is a middle finger. It enforces certain limitations when used with other platforms which basically is a no-go for Suxx which expects more resources available.

If we were to make the demo compatible with other video cards, it would require a major rewrite of the underlying engine which - frankly - would have been a fucking time-consuming thing to do. And I'd definitely prefer to spend time writing the new engine, instead of revisiting dead technology, especially given my rather puny amount of free time recently :)

A silver lining here is that I've already ditched the old engine and am trying to work on a new one that does not have the goddamn dependency.
