a temporary Video can be found here
Instant crash when I try to run the exe (Windows 7, Core i7, ATI 4890).
Looks very nice from the screenshot though...
Looks very nice from the screenshot though...
that looks really cool!
Fuck!
DNR :(
I don't know what I am looking at, though.
nice alien spaceship=)
You used a very old 1kpack version which wasn't compatible with windows 7.
Futuristic
29 bytes smaller with the 0.9c framework
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/franck.charlet/temp/fut.zip hopefully compatible with win7 too.

runs here now :)
994bytes of pure awesome.
and hitch is a genious... so is mad.

Fancy spaceship.
yes the latest version of the packer is available on pouet. Nice work anyway (maybe the x panning should be lowered so the corner of the structure won't be seen ?)
runs here on windows 7, but all i get is a black screen on my 5850 :/
the screenshot reminds me of the mandelbox fractal. is it the mandelbox?

The version hitchhikr posted ran for me as well!
nice
mentor: just tested with a 5750 on win7 64bit and it runs perfectly.

i guess it's just my machine then. it wouldn't be the first time :)
i saw the video and looked through the sources. i couldn't help but notice that the shader is basically identical to the one posted on fractal forums. it is formulated in the same naive branchy manner and even the variables are named similarly, which is strange as i would expect a shader in a 1k to be heavily obfuscated.
if the least bit of effort had been put into this it could have been both faster and smaller (more space for interesting stuff).
but i have seen much worse. piggie it is.

.drama
that's an sexy looking fractal.
maybe my comment was too harsh. i just see a lot of missed opportunity in this intro, but if you didn't plan to go further with it anyway, i guess it makes sense.
call me lame ..but this would be a real great cracktro with some nice textwriter in front of this cool background ..
I like what I see!
I ported it to GLSL using quartz composer on osx (for some reason I figured that was quicker than booting into windows). If you're on OSX 10.5/6, you can probably just open the file from here (it's the attachment):
http://kineme.net/composition/psonice/Mandelbox
If you're using safari, MAKE THE WINDOW SMALL BEFORE CLICKING. It'll play directly in the browser, and it'll be slow as hell if you have a big window and a slow gpu ;) Any other browser will just download it so you can run it normally.
That's not really a true 'port', but it'll run the shader so you can watch it realtime at least.

Love this, surprising fractal.
funky
Amazing, really does look like the inside of a spaceship :)
crash here, like most recent 1k on my computer. (mostly because they are using dx10 + ps 4.0)
but for this intro there is no reason :
it is using directx9 (my card is fully directx9 compatible ) and previous hitchhikr packed intros works on my comp.
maybe it requires some specific dx runtime dll?

nice
It's slow as fuck, but looks very nice!
lovely!
yeaaah very cool
This is awesome, unique look.
it runs fast enough here. great visuals. I wasn't sure if it was a fractal until I read the info file. neat result!
Runs pretty slow on my machine but I love that kind of visuals!
Seems some intense branching is needed to evaluate it...but this is so wonderful :)
Is it possible to get interesting results with a higher value than 0.00025 in the line: "for(int i=0;i<200&&abs(k)>.00025;i++)"? Raising that, I get 60fps on my olden gpu. The results start losing their shape though.. playing with the other figures in that loop seems to improve it, but having no idea what those numbers are doesn't help much :)
I've had a lot of fun playing with it and figuring it out :) I get a good performance/quality tradeoff by reducing the other iteration counts a bit, but that one is the bit that really limits it somehow. Quartz composer is great for stuff like this btw - you can hook LFOs, mouse control etc. up to various parameters in a couple of seconds and mess around with everything realtime.
Hmm.. this combined with mandelbulb could be incredible. Brocolli skyscrapers? :D

Can't get it to run (neither Mad's original version nor Hitch's Win7 fixed version). d3dx9_30.dll etc is present. Same problem with other recent 1k's. Productions packed with older versions of 1kpack run fine.
Looks awesome.
Amazing.
Really Nice.
looks awesome
amazing
oh god that's sick.
fckn cool alien spaceship fractal!
Nice algorithm, I like it a lot
ok
coolio.
AMAZING!
wow looks cool
sweet code
thanx for releasing that spaceship-interior :D
what hitchhikr said about the panning ;)

That shit's wild!
Amazing! Now I wanna see a 4k with sounds and camera and glow and ribbons and dust particles and
hihi
hihi
weird
Very cool graphics for a 1K Prod.
amazing
looks cool
Sweeeet :)
Black screen here as well with all versions.
Nice video though, awesome stuff!
Nice video though, awesome stuff!
Hacked up a quick + dirty "interactive" version for OSX if anyone wants to explore it a little. Open this link in safari to run it in the browser (small window + fast GPU recommended!) or download and open in quicktime/quartz composer: http://kineme.net/files/mandelbox3.qtz
youtube link added. could finally watch it now thanks to the video, it really looks awesome! very cool.
wow very nice!
<3
brilliant! alien techology!
niiiice
how is this realtiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime
Wow, trippy. Love it.
Hieno.
incredible!
Great result in 1K!
The zoom effect reminded me of melting Styrofoam :)

Watcha!

Cool.
:D
Wow!
very nice
looking forward to the next one with music!
not bad
<3
Crashes under 64bit windows 7
nice shit
Sweet.
cool
Excellent.
Needs audio. ;)
Great!
Yes, I like how this looks, 1k is ideal for 3D-fractal experiments. It also helped and inspired me for my own demo.
Hi. :)
You have forgotten to credit Tglad, the discoverer (must say designer) of this amazing fractal.
Nice demo BTW.

looks great! bit it's very similar to the 4k
Especially the screenshot brings old sci-fi films to mind. Colour choice is just optimal for that :)
Looks sick!
Interesting fractal (ab)use
.
great!
the fractal would have a lot of potential but the impression is closer to "behind the scenes" than the actual intro
yes
