Video is to follow. We still need to fix a couple of bugs. Hang in there pig-posters! Windows version is planned, but don't hold your breath.

Cool stuff! Very well done.

Longest 64k ever. I fell asleep during the compo and it was still going in the morning!

More seriously, let me know if it's different from the sunday morning verison and I'll grab the video. Also, mac port!

Thumb stuck up! Needs a bugfix version with greets to BDSE, though.

Video or win32/OSX executable please.

Thumb up for the demo, double thumb up for being a new contender for the mostly-vacant 64k throne. (Assuming the follow-up takes less than 7 years to arrive, that is :-) )
rulez added on the 2008-09-17 11:32:41 by gasman gasman
Thanks for all great feedback. Video is on it's way and will probably be uploaded this evening. Win32 support coming in final version (if MeateoriK can port his synth) I would really like to do a OSX port. I will try to get hold of a person with an intel Mac in Gothenburg. Technically it shouldn't be any problems.

Longest precalc I've ever witnessed followed by two seconds of music and a segfault. =D
added on the 2008-09-17 13:42:24 by Sverker Sverker
looooong precalc, then only music (blackscreen, i had to kill X). But then, i do have an intel gma, so...
Still, thumbsup for releasing on linux :)

Watched the video, and the content/design/music is all very, very average. Would probably have been forgotten immediately if shown at a bigger compo, I'm afraid :(

Decent 64k intros on linux are quite rare, good work guys.

Bashoholics, now this. Shit. I seriously need to get something finished.
btw, what Gloom meant to say was "Release at the Gathering, you'll get crushed at Breakpoint, at the Gathering there won't be any competition so you'll win!"
a bit pointless, but nice graphics and big thumb for the OS! :)

kinda feels like an early 2000 opengl 64k with specular bumpmaps, but at least it doesnt seem to be try much more than that :)

a lots been said about the gfx, the music was atmospheric, i am looking forward to getting a VST of meaty's synth as it sounds superb (i played a tiny bit with it at the party)

puhlease can i have a windowz version? :D
rulez added on the 2008-09-17 15:47:18 by m0d m0d
quite nice, i like greetings part the most.
tho overall, i felt for it, no clue why tho, but i did :)
rulez added on the 2008-09-17 15:50:18 by blz blz
I'll probably port the back-end of the synth to windows, so we can run demos on windows, but porting the editor is less likely. I'll see what I can do. First need to sort out the crappy drums and the "too many parameters per instrument" issue.
added on the 2008-09-17 15:50:32 by MeteoriK MeteoriK
Just bellow average scenes with uninteresting effects, somewhat ugly colors and no tempo, drive or style. I didn't care much for the music either, but its okay for a 64k. About fucking pigface
added on the 2008-09-17 16:26:10 by Duckers Duckers
Really great intro! I look forward to future releases!

Longest loading screen ever (several minutes, what is an average linux box ? I have an athlon xp 2800+, 1.5GB, geforce 3, ubuntu) for a black screen with some music ?
My computer doesn't seem to be able to run it, so I should not thumb down, but I still do because of that too long loading.
Sorry.
sucks added on the 2008-09-17 16:44:38 by MsK` MsK`
Its not loading, its loading twice (at least). Decent first try, lovely synth and good engine proof of concept.
rulez added on the 2008-09-17 16:47:27 by Vampy Vampy
windows, linux, mac: all the same hardware, not an excuse
intro is not very exciting but not bad either
thumb up as encouragement to make a next (better) prod
rulez added on the 2008-09-17 16:58:06 by havoc havoc
MsK`: I'm pretty sure an Athlon XP and a GeForce 3 were part of an average linux box... 5 years ago :)

Kind of lame to thumb it down for long loading if you just have a (relatively) slow CPU.

As for me, I'll watch the video when I'm at home.

By far the best thing to make its debut on linux, ever. It could use more content, but I like the music and the "old demo style" of just showing effects.

Black screen with music for me. Piggy.
added on the 2008-09-18 03:09:26 by Frost Frost
When trying to run it in full screen all I got as a black screen. It worked in windowed mode, but the music kept disappearing and reappearing. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 with an NVidia Mobile chip (Quadro NVS140).

Nice and solid first-time prod with a good synth and nice effects. The music could support the demo better. I didn't get the feeling that the audio was connected to the visuals. The style and colors of the different scenes felt somewhat inconsistent. Maybe decide on a global color scheme and add some transitions to make the demo feel less like a loose collection of effects. Other than that: Great job!

Ok, yes it runs - native - on linux - big plus point.
technically it's not bad, but it's so slow, for nothing... almost nothing - and what the hell did you precalc?!

a native half thumb up ;)

As I get some glitches running it (synth bugs in the middle of intro and it runs quite slow with my 8600gt), I'm going to go with piggy. After looking video, it's a great effort though!

I can´t judge about this coz doesen´t motivated to test it on my linuxtop ;-) but the video is impressive. Not technical or so, i like this one as whole product and the sound is also very good and does match fine to the demo. respect, also respect doing this for linux.
