I don't understand why the resolution has to be so low (renders pretty quick here), but niiiiice nonetheless.

The resolution is not low.
The camera objective is focused to a short distance and anything very far in the background is blurred due to depth of field. I learned I should have used a smaller objective (pupil ?)

your depth of field produces big, discernibly rectanglish pixels? fix the algorithm please then :)

I'm not a fan of the procedural graphics genre, but you must have some serious coding skills to do that.
Do those X formed highlights come naturally from the algorithm? (daft question, a better one might be : what effects make up the image?)
