hmm nice design, bit tooo much filter over the nice H2o gfx....

Great music, good looking (almost "traction-like") movement and colors, but the water-filtering was overused.

gives me a nice black screeen with a lonely pixel in the lower left corner (radeon 9800). music sounds nice. ;)

That was great! Vame the tunnel was in my opinion the best I've ever seen. The whole shiny look really appealed to me. If I had one criticism its that the screaming faces dont fit with that style of music but otherwise I loved it.

There is room for improvement on the framerate side (quite slow on my 6600 GT) and the layers are a bit messy sometimes but cool prod nevertheless.

Also, "Chromag." \o/

yeah, some cool scenes in this demo. I like the "silver city" and the following "thing that rotated too fast to be recognized".

A little slow on my computer (I'm not complaining for a 3.5 years old laptop)

That second in the tunnel (great credits btw) where the camera goes underwater and everything blurs is a great demoscene second ;)

Some brilliant stuff in here! Great track by Chromag, and the watertunnel and shiny city is nice. I'm not too keen on the 2d, and it is made
worse by the filters. Why oh why? No problem thumbing this though. Keep'em coming Vame!

ps: aw come on...

really wonderful soundtrack! and some nice effects'n'gfx. + what virgill said.
rulez added on the 2007-11-19 18:02:49 by prm prm
Sorry h20, I just realised why the 2d graphics looks a bit bleh. They magically got piped into the glow-process.
This fix will probably come with the mac port in a couple of days.
added on the 2007-11-19 18:05:35 by vame vame
I dig the tunnel-part, it shows what you're capable of doing!
the rest is way to messy for my taste, you got the code, you got the artist, and you're always getting better and better. I'll hold my thumb for the fix!
added on the 2007-11-19 19:10:53 by quisten quisten
The beginning was very promising. So I little dissapointed to the too static and bit empty look of the rest of the stuff.

But, some shaders looked very good, music was ok but quite usual, so it balances to piggy. Although there seems to be potential to be much more.
added on the 2007-11-19 19:51:54 by deepr deepr
really nice music, but the tunnel was the only thing that looked ok
added on the 2007-11-19 20:07:47 by hollowman hollowman
Nice music!! :)

Anyway, after seeing the demo which is very nice, I had this thought: why not work longer on this demo make it longer and better , fine tune it etc.. And than release it at bp08..

But on the otherhand KG got supported now.. Nice competitorsfield on a party like this..

Hope to see more demos from Rebels in 2008

Thumb

Really beautiful! It's a pity that the last effect ("Rebels" forming a grid) was so short - that one looked very interesting. My favourite demo from the compo!

I like a lot the good mood of this demo. Astounding visuals with high complexity provided by an intelligent use of shaders, works decently in my Radeon x1600, multiplatform, great music but still some unpolished scenes!

This demo deserves a final version with a little more work, just a little, and it will be perfect :)

Take special attntion to the tunnel with characters in the water, too fast, small or wathever to read

Congratulations! :)

no clue about the code, but i really think you guys need a designer. i don't know, have the graphician sit next to you while you code the effects, or something. for me, the horribly ugly colours and completely saturated effects (too much happening at the same time to be able to actually see any of it) kind of ruined the demo-experience.. not bad in general though, so piggie.

Yeah, the sound stuttering happened on my laptop-linux as well. Don't know what it is. It was even worse when it streamed from disk, so I made the linux version load the song into ram.

For a first attempt this is good and deserves a thumb. Dump the in-your-face lens flare and and tie the scenes together better.

I hope your next demo will be a little less like a flyby. From what I can tell you coded the demo and did the gfx. The gfx were good but it looks like too much work for one guy to model and texture all this stuff as well as coding the engine. Spend more time on coding effects and less time on building environments.

It's more impressive to model and render a matchbox so it looks photorealistic than it is to render a space station that looks CG. Keep it simple and cool.

nice one. the style is ok, but not as hot as what other pc crews cook up from time to time. the music is a little too 80's "synthesiser greatest" (i grew out of that a bit..)

i really liked the good use of bumpmapping and the 3d crosswords (showed way too short imho).

keep on going :) (and cheers for the linux support)

j-ar , the win32 compiled version in the zip which now also contains mac-port should be updated. It contains a small fix to a bug which caused the overlays to be piped into the glow, and also a fix to a bug which caused the rain in the rain-scene to read from the scene-texture but also draw itself to the rain-texture. in effect, drawing and reading from the same texture. (very undefined) :)

What linux distro is this? I've only tested it on ubuntu 32 and 64 bit.
It seems like it's png that's crashing. is it possible to find out which png it tries to load, or would you need an executable compiled with -g for that?

quite boring
watched this sober now, seems like its some nice stuff in there, but the colors where too dark imho not suitable for the tune. some effects where too unconsistent, i would tumbed it up if it wasnt for all of this. but great work, and keep improve your skills!

Excellent music adds a really nice mood to this prod! Tunnel-traction effect is beautiful too.
