Can't try it right now but I remember I already liked the preview very much a few months ago.

Refreshing tunes and cute oldskool menu, nice work Minz and LHS. Gotta try this finished version :)

One of the most inovative music player interfaces I've ever seen in my life! The music is Ok, it could be a bit more modern. Kudos for having "Nintendo Worldcup" music! That msuic is so so anoying! ;D

Those tunes make me happy! :) And the interface is very cute as well. Totally nice, now I will try a bit more to get the 3rd star in the upper left corner. :D I wonder what will happen then. :)

But the tunes have all the same samples (except when you get the three stars offcourse).

LHS, you have much better chippys, you know that's true :) Sadly all the songs sounds very alike and quite boring in style.

I hate the interface, does not makes any sense for a quality music collection with selector. The idea is nice, but if i had to move mario around to get my door in my car to open, than i would take the bus, get the picture ;)

1 few things i done get LHS. i like your stuff, but as some guys said before me: same style+samples is quite boring, sorry ;/
graphics..damn minz has skills, why did not he make better stuff than using a ready made gfx which is taken from some other people even if it has changed abit...

mate...u could get better things out there. and btw i would not call it a disk it is a MINI DISK :D as i saw there...only 5-6 track which is quite less than the usuall..i think about a 3 tune chip disk..what do you say :D..i mean u could get more tunes and better ones or so on..anyway good lick..i mean luck

The project was started like 18 months ago. No, it didnt take 18 months to make this hehe, but minz coded some Super Mario Bros 2 stuff back then just for fun. There were no need to use hours and hours to make pixeled gfx then. And as you can see in the NFO, Nintendo is credited as gfx maker. Also, im a huge NES fan so the gfx matches perfect for my use ;)

About a month ago minz told me he changed it to SMB3 instead, and said it would be really cool for a chipdisk like this, and i agreed. The disk contains a total of 9 tunes (4 NES remakes) which is enough for this time imo. There is no correct answer that defines "better tunes" since its all about taste. So even if i made a disk with only 3 tunes that you think is better, someone else might have said the exact same thing as you do now. Again, its all about taste.

Since Mario is "happy" i decided to only include happy tunes. If some find it boring that is a matter of taste and nothing i can do about that hehe. Im glad so many liked it so far :)

Nice idea, something like http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=23806 with some nice chips, there's 9 tunes, or is there more?
rulez added on the 2006-08-11 17:41:47 by Serpent Serpent
TS, Enzymer: What not comfortable?
I think considering the dynamics of the game it's very easy to switch songs, and easy enough to get the secret ones. Are they synthesized btw? I bet they are.

Oops, forgot the thumbup!
rulez added on the 2006-08-11 18:37:10 by nitro2k01 nitro2k01
"Are they synthesized btw?"

All tunes (including the NES remakes) are 100% tracked in Fast Tracker 2 :)

Great interface idea, but imho very poor music!
Already told minz in a early stage that this thing rocks and interface and music fits perfectly together. A NES interface with NES (and NES-like) tunes - what else you expect? No need for übertunes, even if the included ones rocks - but sure a question of taste. Thumps up for both, interface and music. Sad that there is no second level :[ And guys if you need playlist/buttons rip those tunes out and put em in *insertmodplayerofchoicehere*.

Yeah it's brilliant but the chippies I dont like are made up for with the ones I do like :P

Also regarding 'ripping the chiptunes out of the exe' [found out after a bit of poking around]:

The first 4 [the ones accessed before you get the 3 stars] are in the \datas dir of the chipdisk1.zip . The other 5 [the ones unlocked after you get the 3 stars, which i only managed to do about 15mins back IIRC] are in the exe. The pe compression is a funny one and reshack/exescope cant see this one at all. PEiD GPFs out when scanning the exe [well v0.92 anyway] so this is a complicated pe compression used.

Cool idea and nice chiptune
rulez added on the 2007-05-31 14:17:24 by Pulsar Pulsar
Wack0 > if i remember right it's only FSG or MEW packer. nothing really special. The goal was not to "protect" against ripping but to let you guys unlock the "'hidden" part :-)
