Experimental stuff and actually enjoyable. Cool music and nice colors. A vsync option wouldn't hurt tho.

At first I thought this would be boring, but I really started to enjoy it more and more the further it got.
haha, insane.. thumb up for the idea and the music.. and it actually does get enjoyable after a while..
Nice idea. Maybe a hologram demo (i.e. REAL 3D) would be the next (biiig) step.
Endearing. "Experimental" and "simple", yet not shitty.
Cool! :)
vertical rasterbars \o/
First 1d demo ever, hahaha!!! I already get it from the screenshot =)
pretty amazing for 1d, and a surprisingly enjoyable demo too
a nice concept, which could have been pushed a bit further, with more syncs ( plus the music is really geared for synching )
nice music, nice effect, but i don't really see the connection between them.. cool idea anyway.
not the kinda stuff i enjoed at bp... definitely
this could easily end up like some joke prod once seen and forgotten forever. respect for how you were able to get this much out of it. nice synchronization and flow.
I never thought it would be possible to make something that cool in 1D! Big ups for your work.
And Optimus: I'd thought that too if I hadn't seen it in full length. but it's more than just the funny idea!

Yes, that's what I see now I watch it too. And a lot of people before me. Beautifull colors =)
you don't count the dimension time ? :p
Wow ! opens doors, thats for sure..
most original demo i've seen in ages.
excellent music, excellent design.
with vlp we had a 1d effect in our haskell demo at alternative party 2, though we had other effects also.
shit, i just realised that i don't even have a copy of that.

Hm. As a Demo I don't like it that much. But please release it as a Screensaver. :o
it was interesting but dunno how often i would rewatch it. piggie for now.
funny :D
well, not as one-dimensional as I had expected, but some would say it's art. A very well deserved thumb up anyhow. Expecting a sequel in 1.5d.
cool idea but that's it
found it really boring and please guys, enable vsync next time

Good idea.. but no.. boring
I actually think this is entertaining. The music is good, and the different "effects" are interesting enough for some reason.
However, what I was constantly expecting was vertical rasters, like rotating and 3d-projected bars or something. That would've raised this from being "nice" to "ace". I expect to see that in the sequel :)

really really well executed. made my jaw drop right on top of my hardon during the compo!
could have been more coherent maybe. but rocks.
cool. but wasnt soo good.
i'm not sure but i think the music was released already some time ago... must check some results...
Something Different for once
reminds me of fr-minus-07

such a damn sweet demo. :)
:)
jajj de viccesek vagyunk... :)
piece of originality and beauty. too bad it wasn't really appreciated ranking-wise.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Original idea + music fits well. Could have added some transitions, though (and vsync?).
cool idea!
Cool stuff but would be better if it was running at full frame rate.
In front of my PC. I'm just looking those damn things with my headphones. And my red fish is wondering : what is he doing. "In front of my PC... just looking...damn things... headphones."
A technical thumb down: Your 1D demo isn't 1D if you neglect the VSync and have several frames at once on the screen.
So, simple idea, but you stumbled at the first hurdle. Sorry ;)

nice.
Maybe I would have laughed about it if it was just a 30 second fastintro. But as a demo running for several minues it just plain sucks.
This is pretty good!
must agree with kb on this! :)
it looked perfectly vsynched on my screen. Very nice demo too.
nah.. idea rulez! but i would rather want to watch a 5D-demo.. ;))
i believe i took a pee while this one was on screen... TS is right, you cant watch this for several minutes ;)
nice try... but it wasn't that impressive
A new dimension in demos! Well, actually two dimensions less, but who cares :-)
.. but doesn't beat the rasterscreen in Dragons Megademo! ;-)
A unique and well-executed idea. I like it.
At the compo I was sooo taken by the pure idea. But turning a very simple idea into something I can watch for some minutes is not simple. This could have been a very thrillling study on the effect of colors and compositon. I expected more: a piggy
btw: I reminded me on some Designer' s Republic-stuff.

great idea, and pushed to the limit. very nicely constructed flow of moods.
a veeery neat idea. thumbs up.
Interesting that they even tried to make an entire demo out of this one simple concept. It is, surprisingly, quite watchable, although does start to get tedious. Hopefully there won't be a huge influx of copy-cat.
I expected a fake at BP, but it turned out quite well-done and enjoyable. Nice stuff!
Revolutionary!
0d please!
:-/ hmmmm
music was very nice. the rest was as exciting as my breakfast.
Rules for originality!
unusual.
:) but, sorry, music is not too good... or "not good". or...well, it's bad ;)
lovely
Original :)
Holy freaking shit this is brilliant.
Mind you, I'm spending most time watching it wondering what it is actually showing me - in 1 dimension.
Megaprops for putting this on sceen ish 1 dvd.

F*cking brilliant idea! You guys rock.
Haven't I thumbed up this already? Now,. who's gonna make a 0d demo here? ;)
Nice.
@Optimus: I suppose that all the "I killed/saved the scene or similars" series could fit.
Or pheraps also that multiplatform 0 bytes. :]

for the idea.
ruleness
i'll file this under "contemporary art" and leave it at that.
I think it would have gained a LOT by being displayed vertically. We humans are more accustomed to seeing an horizon, and we relate a lot more to those multiple horizons interacting vertically. (I mean simply, I just tried watching it in TATE mode and it rocked :)
knos: i think demosceners are bored with copperbars :D
Great concept
"Simple" Dezign and nice Zik - I really like this Ambient Flair of it :)
great!
Gargaj, yeah it was pretty obvious this was the reason why the colors were chosen to move vertically. But I think this was a bad move aesthetically. Ok and maybe I am in love with the 3/4 aspect ratio!
Very underrated demo!
surprisingly good!
a lot more fun than the screenshot makes out.. great idea.
Wonderful idea and good execution except that it maybe goes on for a little bit too long.
This goes for showing how much is achievable even in such a constrained environment. Several different effects are displayed. Beautiful gradients and other kinds of nicely animated patterns.
Obviously it's more than just an idea, it's a very good realization of the idea. Seems like a lot of though went into what exactly is shown.

1D -> the future of demomaking
i'm two years late, but still a thumb up.
Nice "screensaver", i like the idea.
just amazing, very clever and neat idea!
experiment my demo me beautiful ;)

You do realize the demo is technically 2D, since it has a time dimension, right?
This was *way* more interesting than I thought it would be... the only things I didn't see were the obvious ones, the parallax scroller (in 1D) or the 2001: A Space Odyssey style slitscan move.

very nice and with a super music
Ok, an original concept of course, but I was a little bit disappointed because there is quite a bit more you could have done with this idea and the time! Thumb up (but it was a narrow decision!)
Sweet!
ney. Cool concept, terrible execution
nope ... what's it all about? Didn't get it ... sry
Stylish! Actually, some of the patterns induced 2D counter-pattern in my brain. (A sort of overlay of horizontal lines) Yes, my brain is fucked.
Gem: May I request a version that uses the Y axis as to denote the time dimension?
In other words:
1) Draw the pattern at the bottom line of the screen
2) Move the screen contents one pixel up
3) Goto 1
:D Thanks in advance!

Ger: I figured out the file format of the dat file now. I'll take the demo engine for a spin tonight!
Very, very, VERY cool!
I love the concept and love this execution.

Interesting concept executed rather well. It progressively got better.
Awesome concept. Plus, this focused more on the ideas and content rather then the technicalities (even though I have no clue how you guys pulled this off...)
ruelez ! - I watched it twice in a row (:

its still fukken excellent
it's fucking 26th
why can i chose a 640x480 resolution for a 1d demo?
concept!
Interesting idea, good realization.
Hmm... Original idea, good musics but IMO wasn't enjoyable like main demos. OK.
Nice idea, and quite enjoyable.
Cool! Seems like I missed this completely back in 2005... Fresh idea and I like the color palette chosen.
nice thingie (=
nice concept :D
I seem to have given this an invisible thumb previously
Works on Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1, 32 bits
and works on Windows 98 SE.
and works on Windows 98 SE.
Nice concept, or plain dumb vertical rasters? You choose...
Music is cool!
Music is cool!
The FXs seem completly pre-scripted, nothing seems to differ when you put another .mp3... Give me my thumb back...
nice!
was there but didn't remember seeing it...

is ok.
Awesome stuff. Kind of reminds me of Yars Revenge when all the colour bars show up on the screen.
rulez
Wtf, never commented on this? I remember this was refreshing during the compos, funny idea and actually looks quite cool. Someone had to do it :)
I enjoyed this !
so if you slitscan it you'll see some photos like some sort of flowers, sky, some black and yellow balls, etc etc..
i love the idea, although it drags out a little longish and there could have been done more with they sync (or i just dont see it).
had a spiritual sequel years later which took the concept even further (or further back?).
late thumb is late but hey! =)

still remember that one, rocks.
