Wow !! Great stuff.

Amazing 3d modelling and shadows that add to the experience.

says something about an unsupported extension and fails to load?

All: This is the party release - don't count on it to run on every configuration out there...
A final is hereby promised.

great stuff indeed, a cool idea and nice looking 3d. good music too, sounds a lot like black sun empire ;) the music volume seemed to be quite low though?

Portal Process, I want you to have my children. Love the demo, and the scene in the screenshot simply kicks ass. Beautiful demo that rocked on the big screen.

great idea, amazing implementation, portal process quality as usual!
rulez added on the 2005-03-29 00:50:06 by Zest Zest
Nice, but the quality of the rendering (UGLY blurring, lots of aliasing) was not that good.

added on the 2005-03-29 08:04:12 by Stelthzje Stelthzje
@Stelthz: as samwise said, this is the partyrelease, and that is probably why you have problems. The final should fix these problems, as they always do :)
It ran smoothly on the compomachine, which if I understood correctly sported a GF 6800, but I've heard rumours of problems on GF6600. But yes, the final should fix it :)

forgot to mention: the soundtrack KICKS SOME SERIOUS ASS. My poor, poor speakers...
added on the 2005-03-29 11:37:11 by Duckers Duckers
lug00ber: no problem on my GF 6600 GT. However, there is a short part (the spinning object) that ran at 1 FPS during 3 or 4 seconds but I did not manage to know whether it was part of the show or if it was a problem with my card :)

And yes, the soundtrack is really good!
added on the 2005-03-29 11:43:16 by keops keops
if you get the unsupported extensions error you should install new gfx drivers. (that should be the obvious thing to do)

a cool demo.
rulez added on the 2005-03-29 11:43:52 by raymon raymon
Cool models and shadows, a bit boring though. At least that's how I felt yesterday. Or I guess after a long time of demowatching the BP entries, I was tired to watch more ;)

Great demo and runs fine here - XP GF ti 4200 and latest detonators.
rulez added on the 2005-03-29 11:51:34 by Stv Stv
Keops: The 1 fps spinning object is a bug - blame me, not your gfx card :-)

samwise: it did not spoil the fun anyway, the demo rocks ;)

the same portal process style better than ever. (although i think it would need some more 2d graphics and design in addition to the awesome 3d stuff.)

The undisputed winners at TG05 and they deserved the 1st price.
The 3d modelling was ace as always and the pacing of the demo was __way__ better that in "The Horizontal".
rulez added on the 2005-03-31 08:57:36 by datsua datsua
Truly well made and pleasing. The only problem that occurrred at my machine was some kind of stopping of the rendering every time a cam/scene changed for 0.25 seconds or so

i wish they would fix the bugs on the textures/lighting that occur under my radeon x800 pro though...
after 3 demos its starting to get very annoying O_o

Very nice. Some of the bots need a little more imagination perhaps, like the generic cyborg head thing, but others were cool like the crawler and the chain-motherfucker at the end.

insane. same style as in some previous releases, but this rocks even more. rewinding to see it again!
rulez added on the 2005-04-01 14:14:47 by annieeee annieeee
nice demo, cool effects. a bit slow in some cases, and some visual artifacts: shadows seem to be fucked up/faked (a light spot on top, and some shadows on the same surface?)

no real transitions, and some "seen 1000 times before" scenes, like this human head in an industrial environment.

the only part i really liked was this spider style machine... yeah, this absolutely rocked. cool movement, very nice :))))

it looked like you spent a lot of time on your scenes/engine/models itself, but you forgot things like transitions, synchs and stuff.

the demo was a bit short...

anyway, still a rulez for you :)
rulez added on the 2005-04-01 14:37:40 by prost prost
hmhm.
i guess since Glowsick and Lumotronik worked, you think more of it works better? WELL DAMN RIGHT :)
the track just owns. like no tomorrow.
i'm not to fond of the visuals (they look a bit TOO much like the previous demos) but hey they look awesome :)

just one more thing.

ShowCursor(FALSE); // :)

13.3 megabytes for a 3d flyby with supermarket shaders... come on.
Only the models and partly the music save this from a thumb down, imho.

Doesn't work on any of the ATI cards I have... Looked good at the party, though -- in particular, the modelling shines as always. :-)

*wow*
one of the few demos that has a totally "natural" look (= you cannot tell if this thing is rendered realtime by the gfx-card or offline by some expensive renderer)..
also ultra-high-detail tech-meshes and nice muzik FORCE me to do this:

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
A final version that fixes some glitches in the party version is now ready.
http://www.scene.org/file.php?file=%2Fparties%2F2005%2Fthegathering05%2Fdemo%2Fpp_meet_the_biots_final.zip&fileinfo
The demo should run on GF3/Radeon9500 and upwards with reasonably up-to-date drivers.
