Absolutely amazing. Probably the best DOS demo in recent years. Lots of known effects, but executed with style and modern polish. And it just keeps going and going.
This, right here, is a future classic.

Proper cannoning. I thought this was for some multimediapentium at the compo, but no, 486!

Cool stuff! Lots of content, fast pace, fun transitions, manages a retro-style design without feeling too much like pandering or forced. All in all very enjoyable.

Excellent, but some of the music changes just were too fast or abrupt for me. Anyway, enjoyable transitions and 50 or is it 60fps. Welcome to the demoscene jazz club. Nice.

This is what demos are made of. It's been years since I have gone out of my way to write a post here and this is the type of demo that excites me. We'll done. Loved it! We need more like this.

This was massive, smooth, with great fast direction and music sync from start to finish, also very impressive for 486 demo. Loved it and can't wait to run it on the real hardware when I am back!

Very nice one!!

Loved the effects, the transitions and the music goes very well with it.

It looks *really* smooth for being a 486 DX2, the cpuid in the captured video seems to indicate it is a Pentium 75 MHz? So I'm not sure, was it captured on a 486 or on a Pentium 75 MHz? If it really is captured on a 486 DX2 then this is technically one of the best 486 demos ever to run so smooth (And otherwise it is absolutely regardless a really nice demo!!)

Really cool, nice variations over those 3D objects. Also pastel colors and funk, yéé!
The flow got some delays at times, but that's nitpicking, and mentioned because that flow is already really good. ;)

Exuberant presentation.

Love a demo occasionally that isn't sad and middle-aged.

The clear winner. Very nice smooth animation and rendering, great pacing and music. From my first watch I've found the metallic spheres to be the most impressive effect, it looks like they are achieved with some kind of image deformation and clever use of palettes. I'd be interested to know how that works.

what a blast, straight out of 1994, one of the three absolutely massive DOS demos in the compo. full of finesse and attention to detail, and super tight pacing and editing. aesthetics on point, loved it all the way.

and not to be needlessly provocative, but this honestly wipes the floor with all amiga demos from recent years, which is all the more impressive considering that there have been some solid amiga demos in recent times too. glad to see DOS getting some love after a while again :)

One of the best demos for DOS.
Written on the old Turbo Pascal 7 compiler from the nineties, which adds to the authenticity.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback! We really tried to make a good demo.

As for the source code: I’ll definitely publish it. But first, I’d like to make the final version, fix a few things, and maybe improve the optimization in some places.

And one more recommendation: if you’re running the demo on a 486 PC with a Sound Blaster, please select a mixing rate of 22050 Hz (in the startup menu). By default it’s set to 44100, but for a 486 that’s still a bit too heavy. This affects the smoothness of the visual effects.

Really enjoyed this demo at the compo, especially the small transitions chaining together the impressive main effects. Lovely attention to details!

Has strong stock Amiga 1200 demo vibes, which is good! Turbo Pascal 7 FTW! (with help from inline Asm, of course :) I tried it on PCem with 486/66 CPU and it ran well with little slowdown.

Excellent, great stuff, the plasmas are beautiful, very nice physics and reflection mapping, overall nice transitions, very polished! Triple thumb for using TP7 (my preferred language back in the days ;) and targeting a fine oldschool machine like a 486 ... many thanks for the greetz!

Very cool, fast paced and designed demo, some very nice effects and transitions between them. I liked the music too. However, i would have liked to see more static pictures between the effects. Great tribute to the good ol' days.

I'm so glad to be alive in 2025, just so I could witness a brand-new DOS demo running on my hardware.

This one worked excellently on my Core 2 Quad with FreeDOS. It has buttery smooth animation and a snazzy soundtrack - exactly what I'd expect to see in a modern prod. The audio stuttered a bit, but that's probably down to VSBHDA.
rulez added on the 2025-08-11 14:19:03 by janrc janrc
Yes , yes and yes! This is what a proper oldschool 486 demo looks like. Better than many done in the 90s when the same machines were mainstream. And have to like it even more due to made with Turbo Pascal 7 + inline asm, the same combo that I've grown up coding games and demos with.

Can only love the physics and good syncs all over. Already waiting for your next demo 8)
