- I won't get into opinions on the "me too" trend of copying 2nd Reality, Bad Apple, ST-NICCC, etc. It's been discussed, and either you care or you don't. My criticism here is that you picked a platform that is not a good fit for the original. 2nd Reality C64 worked because they were able to pull off all the effects, even if slower and lower resolution or polygons, which is part of the demake charm. If you're just flipping between two pictures, that's not a demo; that's not really even an animation.
I agree with leGend: Work with the limitations of the platform. I'd rather see effects that the Apple ][ can do well. Piggy because you made an effort and I don't want to be a jerk. - isokadded on the 2023-11-05 15:38:40

- Nice donut zoom, would've been cool if it kept going.

- Great gfx for 64k. Enough variation in the scrolling effect to keep it interesting.

- Nice one, 1999 Replay/DCS software style, cool music.

- Simulates the "found footage" degraded video experience better than any other demo to date. It proves that with image quality, sometimes less can be more. I'm glad it stayed full framerate, that helped with the illusion of video. Like other UD/CNS releases, the story is somewhat open to interpretation but the direction and narration are there. Good sound design, which was necessary for it to work.

- If you're gonna make a 2 GB demo, make it worth the download. This is just 64kb worth of effects plus a soundtrack and a couple AI pictures. At least 1976 had a gigabyte worth of point cloud data.

- It's no Overdrive, but it's very nicely done.

- Full of late 90s pixel/electronica vibe. Regarding the secret parts, #1 works in WinUAE (insert any disk in df0, start the demo, eject the disk, click Secret Part). Haven't tried letting the scroller run three times but I assume it works. There are a bunch of Youtube captures but I couldn't find any that included the hidden parts, so hopefully someone (or even I) will add one someday.

- Fellow 1976-er here. :) Totally LIDAR-rific, with a bit but not too much nostalgia thrown in (the nixie tube year counter was a nice touch). The train part reminded me of ASD's Rupture a bit. The head credits were pretty badass.
And dammit, stop thumbing up your own stuff! :) You can be proud of your work, but it still comes off a little vain. - rulezadded on the 2023-09-04 17:29:38
