• Finally got to watch it realtime \o/ After quite a few watchings, it's grown on me - I think this will end up being a classic.
  
  Btw, like some other ASD demos there's some semi-hidden, near-impossible-to-read text in here. What does it say? One bit looked like STS, maybe greets? :)

  Great atmosphere at the start.. I was kind of disappointed when that style was dropped for the beat + robots, but the rest was cool too. Pity it ended right after mentioning "destroy", I was looking forwards to some good explosions in that style!

• Bah, wasted 45 minutes trying to watch this today.
  
  I downloaded the high quality capture off capped.tv (http://capped.tv/asd-the_wind_under_my_wings1 btw). It played in quicktime, but with extreme nasty compression artifacts (no, not part of the demo, although they were kind of cool). It played in vlc but with a grey background instead of black, before crashing after 10s or so. It plays in flash on capped.tv, but it's jerky in fullscreen :(
  
  So in desparation I downloaded the exe and rebooted into windows.. and spent 30 minutes reminding myself why I rarely bother. Had to update the video drivers and other stuff before it'd load instead of crashing. Then spent more time trying to get it to play audio through headphones instead of speakers. Then it finally ran, and played fine but extremely slowly at 720p, smoothly but with a large strobing blue stripe at the top on 720x480, and extremely slowly with just a thin strobing strip at anything else. I'm half convinced it was dropping back to software rendering somehow o0.
  
  Is it fairly demanding on the GPU or CPU? It's only a radeon 2400 + c2d 2.4ghz with 1gb of ram, but other demos run reasonably in lower resolutions.

• Would one of the animation-specific codecs handle it better perhaps? Just thinking that the regular codecs like h264 are made for more natural images and choke on things like this. I've not tried any to find out, but it may be worth a go.

• p01: local or external. Just thinking if it was somewhere out there on the net, you could capture directly to, say, capped.tv :) A standard API and it'd be fairly easy to capture any web demo.

• kkapture for web demos? how about kkapture.com, hosting an app that receives the .ogg/mp3/whatever and a stream of .pngs sent by the demo, fires out a video some time later? I'm guessing it's at least possible to draw to canvas, then read back the pixels and send them somewhere other than the local disk.

  ...but unfortunately it's not playing in safari. No other browsers installed here (unless you count ie7 in vmware). I'll wait for the software to catch up.
