- demo Android RRHOID by Kewlers [web]
- Not that impressive IMO. I know it's an Android prod, and that's worth some alone, but still - it enters a demo competition where you have no hardware or size-limitations. I think one could fairly expect a little more content and some more interesting music. It's definately not a thumb down, but I just can't thumb it up either. It somehow seems a little rushed or restricted in some way or another. Can't quite explain why, it's just the feeling I get when watching this. A pigge it is.

- demo Windows Escape by Pyrotech
- Setting a fantastic mood
Goodlooking scene with the ufo entering the atmosphere!
Aliens settled in a face, that now responds ... WTF?!
Can't seem to place the blimb into the story. Nice model, though. But why the "old TV"-shading all of a sudden?!
Blimb touches down at a house in country-side ... (remember this for future reference)
Ratraced balls?!? WTF?!
Blimb touches down inside an urban environment. What did it do in the country side just before, then?! As for guidance? ;)
All in all - the entire demo is just sooooo close to be perfectly awesome, but when you decide on a design that obviously tries to tell a story - be true to it all the way through. Also if it means cutting out entire scenes that someone might have spent countless hours to create or if models simply doesn't fit into the story of the production. I'm not saying there's something wrong with not having a story/direction per say, and I'm not saying all productions should even be coherent. But in my opinion, they always have to be true to the concept they're trying to fulfill, and this one certainly starts out one way, and looses it more and more along the way. Ferris actually put it quite well.
The music isn't exactly my cup of tea. It seems somewhat uninspired and the leads are pretty basic. The part with guitar lead and rock'ish backing guitar at the end is the only interesting part, but instruments and mixing/mastering could definately use a little more attention. When there's no size restrictions, I think one can fairly expect a bit more from a soundtrack.
I wouldn't go as far as to thumb this down as some do, and the amount for effort this must have taken is worth the thumb up alone. As I write initially - the demo is very close to being down right awesome, so the above things are just something, that to me prevents it from being so :) - rulezadded on the 2012-08-07 09:12:31
- 4k Windows Reionization by mfx [web]
- The quality of the instruments in this one is simply hilariously high. Excellent instrument design and perfect balance throughout the entire frequency spectrum. The visuals, however, while fitting, didn't impress me equally much. It's nice and still imensely impressive for a 4k, but it's not the visuals that makes me rewatch this.

- demo Windows Spacecut by Carillon & Cyberiad [web]
- Visually - impressive as hell. The music was nice, but seemed somewhat "safe", as does the color choise. Or the lack of same. Still - easily a HUGE thumb up. A coherent and well thought through demo!

- Guess this is a case of: "Well, someone HAD to do it". Doesn't qualify for a thumb up on that argument alone :)

- game Windows Lavalanche by Bombsquad [web]
- By far the best game of the compo. And the most "complete" as well. Great to see people who cares about sound-design and not just adding strange blip-blip sounds and generic background music! This actually fits the mood of the game and the sfx are perfectly fitting as well!

- demo Windows Machine by Ümlaüt Design [web]
- Oh - I actually never rated this. It's one of only a couple of demo-entries I recall from that compo. I found the direction really cool, and I'm sure music was created to fit the idea and not the other way around. Really makes the prod stand out as a whole. Others already stated the obvious, such as: Massive amount of work, fantastic soundtrack, great direction etc.

- demo Windows Mito Chondrio by Andromeda Software Development [web]
- A jawdropping 4k, a really cool 64k, but very little wuaw/kb ratio in this one It's basically a single idea with simple music. The melody is nice, but that's not enough to lift my overall impression.
Also: Cherri Kandler now oficially loves prods with black backgrounds again :-D - sucksadded on the 2012-07-29 11:22:20
- intro Amiga OCS/ECS 3 letters of fame by 3LN
- The tune is really catchy and I like the font too. The execution and the rest of the "effects" were really not my cup of tea. Only a piggie, even though I'm close to thumbing this one up just because of the melody :) Wouldn't be quite fair though.

- 64k Windows Bremen by Floppy
- Hm - never rated this one. Obviously, it's a great particle/fluid dynamics effect. Soundwise, it didn't really make my day, but I guess it fits the visuals to some extend. All in all, a really solid production, definately worth a thumb!
