- demo Windows LINEAR by Creative Mind
- If that scares you, try watching the rest of the demo.. I did. It's like having a Trabant.. it's oldskool, but is it necessarily cool? :)
Nothing to do with the Amiga group "Creative Minds", afaik.
No thumbs down since I like to be encouraging to first-time groups who at least make some effort. - isokadded on the 2002-04-17 00:59:28
- demo Alambik borg by Rez [web]
- Likin' it. Gives me hope that maybe even I can make a nice-looking demo. :)

- demo Windows Daydreamer by Fairlight [web]
- Crashes hard at the intro part w/ the girl walking. Ath1.4, 512mb, GF2Pro, Win98.. v22.50 drivers not new enough for you? (still using em cuz they're the fastest in win9x)

- demo Windows fr-020: in control by Farbrausch [web]
- All the vocals really need are some more echo & reverb.. and it's not like any of you could do better. :)

- 64k Windows fr-019: poemtoahorse by Farbrausch [web]
- I'm a little behind everyone else, but I still gotta pay my respect. The objects and the text flowing around them are simply gorgeous. The whole thing runs smooth as silk on my Athlon+GF2. Great music too. Buuut.. maybe just a little too much black background for my taste (damn, why must I try to find faults with everything? :)

- demo Windows Channel 5 Sequence by Haujobb
- I have to thumb up this demo for the music, which OWNS. Radix is God.
Other than that, it's the same Finnish-section style, done ultra-fast because they apparently need as much precious drinking time as possible :). But hey, at least they have (er, had :( ) a style, many groups don't even get that far.
I never even read all of drstranger's comment above. Just be careful what you say, dude. I wonder if we'll even get a final version now.. they could at least have the right demo name in the setup window. :) - rulezadded on the 2002-04-07 22:12:36

- rm (and others who know who they are), for attacking kb like that, you deserve a molten iron rod shoved far up your rectum. (Or maybe you already have something stuck up there?) Amazing how people can tolerate piss-poor code yet scream when a scener actually manages to do vocals. Constructive criticism is fine, but until you can make a better soundsynth or song, take your caps-lock flames somewhere else.

- 64k Amiga PPC/RTG Planet Potion by Potion
- God dammit.
Last year they embarrassed us with Lapsuus. But we still had our 64k intros like FR-08 and Heaven7. Now they have to embarrass us in 64k. Lesson to PC guys - this is what you're capable of when you spend more than a few hours designing a demo (erm or intro).
And stil, please hook me up with a PPC emulator if you can find one. - rulezadded on the 2002-04-06 03:21:23
- 64k Windows mother, mother! fukwit daddy! by Haujobb
- Even if it only placed 6th, this is the best HJB intro in a long time. Almost looks like they spent more time on this than on their demo :). "Marries" the styles of MM,MEH and FD quite well (altho instead of B/W we get some pastellish colors). Everything flows together just right. Music is very nice, tried ripping it w/o success :/. Vis's gfx add flavor and almost have an Edward Gorey look to them. The fireworks at the end don't quite fit in with the rest, but it's still a damned cool effect. :)

- demo Windows Adrenalin by Smash Designs [web]
- OK, finally saw it (and I thought it would be better to comment here than the you suck! thread).
Short version: see Jazz's comment above.
Long version:
First part reminds me of Machines of Madness. Font is oddly low-res.
Second (and main) part - amazing 3d modelling and animation. But the "Kasparov treatment" of changing the camera position to every beat simply does not work for this demo. The viewer's attention should be focused on one part of the scene at a time, so they can take it all in. Instead it's thrown all over the place, which isn't good in a realistic/"concrete" world like this. The people sprites were a nice touch, but as others said, people actually on the rides would've been icing on the cake.
The music as a whole is.. not bad - a little repetitive. But the tossed-in voice samples are awful and cliche.
The demo might've worked better if it were like Toasted. That is, it would start with some "warm-up" abstract/2d (& 3d) parts, then midway through, go to the big amazing 3d world (for a couple minutes or so). This would've made it much more interesting. All the camera movements needed would be a quick flythrough, a view from each of the rides, and maybe a shot of the whole park at the end. Followed with a proper ending, it would've been a memorable, deserving winner. - isokadded on the 2002-04-05 05:10:16
