TBH it was hard to chat even with linkspam shown as linkspam and not as gifspam. I eventually moved to IRC only during the compos.

Prod authors who would normally listen to audience feedback (applause, cheers) at a real-life party, I'd assume.

I (normally) find the chat an enjoyable second-screen experience when watching a stream. It gives much more the feeling of doing something together with others than just seeing the stream alone and having your own thoughts.

I assume that others get this in the form of posting (and probably also watching) GIFs, but it doesn't really work for me, and it takes up huge amounts of both screen estate and visual attention, drowning out the textual chat.

At IRL parties, rarely; at online parties, especially during music compos, it's not unreasonable.

I'd argue that the Shouting Etiquette at parties is arguably better than gifspam, especially considering the distracting nature of flashing images.

in retrospect having an extra channel dedicated to party gif spam and another in slow mode for constructive creators feedback only would have been handy. but then again it's like instead of having something like 5 channels that i'm trying to follow i would now have 6. eventually you have to pick your focus battle. during the satellite we had our feedback and commentary direct from the other satellite attendees, so it was fine, and the gif spam was sometimes more entertaining then the prods themselfs so i for one definitely enjoyed it. once i got home for the final compos on sunday, i found a voice channel to hang out with half a dozen sceners for the relevant random commentary. still had the gif spam channel open though and read most of the commentary there aswell, didnt bother me much, could always minimize it if i wanted to focus on the prod alone. i recall during previous revisions twitch chat was often also unreadable due to volume of communication, so i dont really get the hate towards gif spam party, feels more like boomer hate on wanting discord to be irc rather then actual constructive feedback towards improving future parties online experience. if you dont like gif spam you can always setup a cozier group to chat with, or offer your feedback directly to the creator after the compo rush, sms, email or dm them, post a comment on pouet, etc.

I always thought Dark Ambient tracks sound like massive build ups to the ultimate DnB track. Every DnB group should have a Dark Ambienter in the staff for those perfect intros
