Since we're on the subject of mashups, I feel it is obligatory to leave this one here.

@tEiS: Thanks for the links, didn't know them, nice one that on youtube !
I focused my search for japanese music more on the punk/rock/experimental/metal side since decades, so much too dig there...I sometimes do DJ sets on that.
For the more 'normal' side I would recommend "Bump of Chicken" or "Shiina Ringo" if you don't know them already.
If you wanna go more experimental, check out Melt Banana :-) a crazy trip...

@kuemmel is Melt Banana, is she singing in japanese and english?

I saw Melt Banana live once in Linköping, awesome set. I have no idea what language she sings in, it's impossible to make out any words. My favorite is Sick Zip Everywhere.
great thread. does LukHash count ? LukHash - Better Than Reality [FULL ALBUM]
^Definitely! Deserves its own thread. Great!
@tEiS: Also no clue if they sing in english, that band is more like an "experience", especially live, like El Topo said :-)
So lets go for more weird fun stuff. "YMCK" - an 8 Bit chip tune band: Linky

(I am aware of Amiga4Klang but I recently wrote this Amiga modular synth + replay and I can't help but think about how someone like you could really make it sing. Ok, too much too much truth serum for me today, have a good night ;))
cheers also to Chromag & Juice !

Just let us try ;)
just to give you an initial impression: Cycle docs
in a nutshell:
- you get up to 16 cubic bezier envelopes that will be baked into Amiga digestable lookup tables (can be used for envelopes, LFOs, waveforms)
- up to 32 "machine" arguments which can be used to parametrize the synth code (auto-generated UI code)
- it can synthesize 2d and 3d wavetables (with per-cycle cross-fading for smooth loops)
- modular architecture, 23 basic blocks to play with ATM (OSCs, filters, etc)
- generates C code with a bit of 68k inline assembly (verified to generate proper code using Bartman^Abyss' GCC compiler)

and when I say "Amiga" I actually mean "Amiga 500" and "Atari ST(E)".
