Why render/shared problem commonly shows in pink?

Logs are for programmers. Artists being artists, they never read logs and tend to ignore errors as long as they can keep working :D

Mostly because it is easy to see the pink error surface in a complex scene (and go there and fix the problem), but that is up to the graphics engine that's been used. I have also seen blinking error textures (in games with cheerful colors where pink would be easily overlooked that is), or error textures with a message to the art team like "you messed this up guys fix it please" in games were the art team and the coders team work separately. :)
