Hi,

some questions:

is there / where is the compo crew? (guys responsible for running the creative compos)
is there an asm tv crew that is responsible for the creative compos

.. where is Truck?

Navis,

CompoCrew is headed by Spiikki. Their office is in organizers only area and a bit hard to reach, so go to Infodesk and ask them to call Compocrew and they'll come and get you.

CompoCrew works with the AV team for showing the compos so they can help you also with questions related to showing the compo.

Truck was around yesterday, at least I asked how he was doing during the opening ceremony and he hollered something back.

...as we are broadcasting the ASSEMBLY demo compo live on national TV, we have to start the compo immediately after the Counter-Strike final ends. This means that the actual starting time of the demo compo is uncertain.

The CS:GO finals will start on Saturday at 21:00. The final may take an hour, two hours, 2.5 hour, 3 hour or 3.5 hours. After the final ends we'll have a 10 minute technical break and the demo compo will then start immediately.

Why's that? Every tv-guide has the same information that the demo compo starts at 00:00 and is marked as a separate programme from the Counter-Strike Finals. Now if someone (like me) wants to watch only the democompo, the competition may already have ended when it's 00:00.
Yeah the schedule on the website also says 00:00.

I can understand this if it's _later_ than that, but changing something that has been pre announced for a long time to run at an earlier time is probably going to make a lot of people miss the compo :/

The Counter-Strike final runs as "open ended" TV program, so it ends when it ends. I don't have all the details but the set up with the national broadcaster YLE is that the demo compo follows about 10 mins after CS final ends.

The schedule on the website mentions demo compo starting immediately after the CS GO final, though that mention could be clearer (will get some one to update).

We'll do our best to inform people (i.e. here) as there is no way to change this close to the broadcast time (while we are flexible, national broadcasters are less so)..

To make it even more confusing, TV schedules show two separate programs: CS Finals 21:00, Demo compo 00:00. This on both 3rd party schedule web site and YLE's own.

And now I notice daFred said it already. Very annoying situation as I know a lot of people whor are interested in finally seeing what this demo stuff is about and don't want to spend whole night watching CS finals to avoid a risk of missing whole compo at time announced in TV guides.

are there any low res streams? the current ones consume heavy bandwidth and there seem to be no alternatives :)

Are there * no * music acts scheduled for Assembly this year ? No sign of any on the schedule - yet a couple of years or so ago when Kebu was unveiled, his concert was seriously terrific :)

heavy bandwidth gluttony : impossible to watch

AssemblyTV continues to be the gold standard for content production on a party. A lot of nice small touches; everything is done well.

Amazing Amiga compo!
But we need low-res alternative videostreams! Please!

TBH Ham, the second stream (accessible from the main webpage on the Assembly site) seems to work a lot better than the first. Not quite sure entirely why this is the case, but we have to live with it I guess ;)

From what I can see: The first is HLS through video.js (which I guess works in… hardly any desktop browsers at all; mostly phones), the second appears to be a Flash player that plays either HLS or RTMP (unsure how it picks which one to use).

1. I found only RTSP stream somewhat watchable (other variants do not work at all), but it does still stutter sometimes. And internet bandwidth has nothing to do with that, apparently -- incoming traffic is steady, stream has tens of seconds buffered. Probably, either VLC is broken, or stream content itself is.

2. How do I update entry info (like name and comment) on PMS? I can upload a new version, but cannot edit info or change thumbnail.

Abyss: The final straw, after watching the party turn to total shit, that stopped me from going to Assembly (after having attended since 1998) happened in 2008 or 2009. Demoscene compos were several hours late because of CS. It's bizarre that CS holds scene compos hostage and you still pretend that Assembly is a demoscene event - it's not. It's a huge LAN party with some demoscene stuff thrown in for decoration.

It's cute that you ask for such a Boozembly volunteer. Sadly even the loudest shouting will not alert the people at home, tuning in to their TV sets at midnight and perhaps having missed the whole democompo. TV programs sometimes start late due to sports, but they don't begin early.

The following program on TV2 will not begin until 02:30 so I just don't get it why can't you start the democompo as scheduled - as you for sure won't have any problems finishing the show on time. If the CS ends early fill the first timeslot with a demoshow.

Better take my words back, this is far from a good outreach.
Hi all,

thanks to help from YLE, the schedule of the Demo compo is now clearer: The Demo compo is scheduled to start at Sunday 00:00 (midnight) as announced earlier.

If the CS:GO final continues past midnight, then the Demo compo will start immediately after the CS:GO final ends.
