[straight topic] what's the best scooter song in your opinion?

category: offtopic [glöplog]
Damn, I just read Mo-Do was an Italian singer who used to sign in German language, who knew.

maali: Scooter arrives to their first gig in Hungary, in 1995. Which is located in a really small village, but they really like Scooter :) Scooter gets some presents from the major: for example some wurst, and also a flying rug which helps them to fly to the top of charts (!!)

I'm waiting eagerly for this thread to have more posts than the one for Depeche Mode!

On a sidenote, the refrain of Move Your Ass has the same chord sequence of Daft Punk's Get Lucky :)

Great thread!

I share rc55's fascination for Scooter. It seems like everybody who takes them seriously hates them, and everybody who doesn't loves them. I also have the underbelly feeling that Scooter themselves are in the second camp.

It also looks like I'm finally going to see them live at the 2014 tour next january. Gonna have to listen to all those albums in sequence for the next 8 months!

I'd love more anecdotes and background stories, by the way. Keep them coming!

As for the original question, that still has to be Move Your Ass. Posse! You keep the spirit alive! And any track with a cheering-audience-track, really.

I liked their hardstyle era when they discreetly copied off The Pitcher and Headhunterz.

OP: Surely a rhetorical question. Or trollbait?

I mean, come on. Every one of them is horrible, dumb and utterly uninteresting. How can you even tell them apart? From the shouts he swapped out or the video?

ready2die: Yes they do have a pretty unique formula. I don't understand why I should get over myself for that lowest common denominator comment though, unless you think it's somehow intrinsically wrong to make music with the singular aim of pleasing as many consumers as possible..? Or maybe one could argue, after smoking a pound of crack and drinking a pint of LSD, that Scooter has been trying to put out highly abstract compositional masterpieces aimed at a select audience of hardcore afficionados for nearly 20 years, but despite their tireless and sincere efforts to keep things thoroughly underground, and to their deeply rooted disappointment the majority of their attempts at obscurity ended up on top of the commercial music charts across several continents?

havoc: Rather than trying to please as many consumers as possible, I would say they have stayed true to their sound, and true to their fans. Quite obviously they are hard workers too, even if people here say making the music is easy. Because of this they've been able to maintain years of continued success.

The main attraction in their music is the energy. Something that is universally relatable. So it makes sense they have fans all around the world. That doesn't mean everyone feels hyperthough.

It's quite apparent from this thread, and just by common sense, that nowhere near everyone likes Scooter's music. So I figured by the lowest common denominator comment you meant something like "dumb people like it", which is only true in the sense that they have a lot of fans, some dumb some not. Sorry if I misunderstood you there.
Cool, finally a simple enough thread for me to post in. The answer to the subject is obviously Maria Maria. Apart from being a totally awesome video starring Germany's worst actor Ralf Möller dancing with a Terminator-glow in his eyes....... aaaargh, this too much to take.

Anyway, be prepared for the party next weekend and read this, so you get the lyrics right.

LOL. Looks like your average demoparty to me.
ready2die: Yeah, my point was the "common" rather than the "lowest" part and the deduction behind that is that you cannot deny appealing to the lowest common denominator if you sell that many records, nothing involving fans' intelligence or anything like that, except in the case of Skrebbel maybe :)

Why is it that people who hate pop always think that people who love pop must be stupid?
added on the 2013-07-01 21:12:51 by skrebbel skrebbel
I don't believe in stereotypes. I prefer to hate people on a more personal basis.
