Evoke 2012 from 10-12 August in Cologne / Germany
category: parties [glöplog]
first day was cool.
As I said, evoke is a party you come for meeting the orgas.. props to that.
Well, for the rest, all I can say is: The real party is at the hospital.

knl: Ow fuck man, what happened? :\ I've been totally missing your for the rest of the party!
This year's evoke was awesome. Thanks to all of you. Le love.
Still on the road :D . Currently having a break, drinking OVOLO coffee.

Thanks Ziphoid for being me lifeline sleep location-wise even if I didn't need it :)
I was wondering about that gorgeous dragon picture in the Pixel Graphics compo as well. For me true pixel art is not only about the resolution, but the technique(s) used. Especially antialiasing and dithering. So a scanned picture resized to 320 x 240 doesn't count, but neither would the aliased and dithering (gradients) -less simpel pixel pic. Oh my it's monday morning and this question is too hard for me...
I totally forgot to upload my steps in the freestyle graphics compo. Thanks for not disqualifying me. I didn't get, that I have to upload a zip or something.

thank you for the great party! it was my first evoke and it was a total blast! great athmosphere, great people! positive surprise: seperate sleepinghall was really seperate and quite, big thumb ups for that! (plus i got that sofa, yay! ;)
fruit-support was also appreciated. and i met my stop-motion idol gaspode and some code-heroes from still/boykneckt for the first time. :)
i had planned for a release but time-management sucked again.. :(
high quality compos too, esp. real wild and wild. i'll come back for evoke for sure!

Hi folks
Here are the live footage videos from the competitions:
ASCII/ANSI Compo
Pixel Graphics Compo
Freestyle Graphics Compo
Animation Compo
Alternative Platform Compo
PC 4K Compo - Note the comment in the description.
PC 64K Compo
PC Demo Compo
- Music/Sets will be released via Scenesat, ETA not yet known. I do have the recordings of the live sets (the really late night DJs got cut because the batteries died in the recorder, and I wanted to go to bed w/o leaving my gear there).
- Seminar audio recordings have been passed onto the person handling the video of the seminars (I forgot his nick name, but it was an organiser called Sebastian).

@elend: my bad, i probably uploaded it into the wrong category, but i hoped that the organizers will put it into freestyle if it doesn't qualify as pixel gfx. the rules weren't 100% clear for me, so i picked the category which fitted for me better for "handdrawn"
otherwise the party was awesome as usual, and it still gets better by each year, big thanks to all the organizers and to all the nice people i met there.

- Nerdine for being such a sweet person, translator and overall fixer for useless scandinavians in Ze germany.
- Dodge for the lazy afternoon painting session next door and the nice graff conversations

- The guys from AttentionWhore
- Streetuff (needs no more elaboration :D)
- KRAWALL!! people outside the hall :P (can't believe I've missed out on this magic phenomena. Will be introduced to Norwegian Parties)

I'd like to chime on the thanks-bonanza. Guys, you organized a beautiful, wonderful party again. The weather certainly added extra awesomeness, so thanks for organizing that as well. ;-) I think the food offering could still be improved but with the shops closeby, that isn't so much of an issue. I just think you could generate a lot more money that you could use for all sorts of goodies, by offering sandwiches etc...
But that's nitpicking. The döner-booth in the neighbourhood fixed that in no time. :)
Thanks for the preparty too, whoever organized that. It was really nice to meet with some people there and watch some fine demos (something that I still miss from the main hall, although I do guess that this is for copyright-reasons as well). The opening "15 years of Evoke" was aaaaaaaawesome though.
Also, mindblowing sets from Glxblt and Ctrix. Thank you guys for the party-mood! Ctrix, you truly are nuts. :)

Great party again. Huge kudos to all the organising parties that made this event possible.
If there was one thing to taken care about it would be the estimation of the forerun time to
set up the Alternative Platform compo. I know it's a gamble each year b/c it's never all that
clear how many entries there will be in that slot - we've seen weaker years and bigger ones
like this year. But the "Exotic Hardware" compos are usually the most demanding ones in
terms of set-up-care.
here we go:
dipswitch - about the book I was talking to you about regarding your scholarship, you can take a peek at google books ( Fire in the Minds of Men )
and thanks to the following people
Xerxes - for the drink and the nice chat
tFt - for sharing chats about our "parallel-scene" and getting our fingers dirty with paint
the AJZ neighbors - for letting two old writers paint some pieces
Novel - for being the ace Evoke-driver, crewmate and a great guy to debate with :)
doc.K - for helping out with your indestructable A1200 from hell
ted & KeyJ - for being great table-pals as always
mog & RbR - great getting to know the young demofolk, I'll be at #hotzenplotz when I have a sandbox ready for RbR (and you, mog! ;)
XXX - thanks for being the media you are ... and a canvas to draw on apparently *evilsnigger*
zANEr - for the nice chats about the 10vor10 times and the old Köln-Erfurt connection
DaTucker - thanks for queuing up Rutherford's Get Real early in your set \o/
fieserWolf - for a nice chat on the "command bridge" during the alternative compo
DJ Quishot - for beaming me to the Pleiades with that set of yours
the unidentified camouflage masked man - no explanation needed
cheers
