somebody must start ;)
i think it's better than g+ and without the fucking ads.

It's also without the fucking people. Every single social network is useless without that due to the network effect. I'd be happy to switch from Facebook to something more sensible but most of the people who I communicate there with would never make the switch.

Can't help it but the name of the site sounds like an irritable bowl problem.

Facebook isn't a service any longer, it's an infrastructure. The sooner their "competitors" realize this, the better.

yeah! we need facebookclassic.com instead of that timeline crap! :P
i use facebook, twitter and linkedin. adding another "networking" network would be pointless.

Being able to replace them with a decentralized one, however, would be nice. But that isn't happening anytime soon.

I like that they all integrate to a certain degree (eg posts can be distributed)

No, it wouldn't - not at all - seeing as each of them (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn) all cater to different needs and groups. I like being on all three for different reasons. LinkedIn is clearly geared towards the professionals and used selectively for self-promotion and work-related tasks. Facebook is semi-closed (with the right settings), allowing for sharing with both friends and acquaintances. Twitter is inherently open, sharing with everyone who wants to follow your updates. Adding to this is Path, which is inherently closed, with no re-tweeting or re-sharing, and limited to a certain amount of people. I use all four, for different things.

But, returning to Facebook -- it's nearly made itself as irreplaceable as e-mail once was. Again: infrastructure, not a service.
