Alternative party needs theme music before the event!

category: music [glöplog]

Alternative Party needs your audio design skills before the actual party event!

Design a theme song for Alternative Party 2010. The contest is hold in association with AudioDraft. The song should convey the space theme of the event and take listeners on a journey of space exploration. Whether this musical voyage goes far beyond our galaxy or stops right here on planet Earth is totally up to you. Contest ends on Oct 10th so you'll have to react quickly!

The theme song will be played in the actual event before and after live gigs, presentations and demonstrations on the stage. Winner of the contest should be able to provide a shorter 5 second jingle version of the song as well.

The prize is $500. In addition to winner receiving the prize money, winner will also be awarded with event tickets. Traveling fees are not included. There will be a prize award ceremony for the winner at the event.

The contest can be found from AudioDraft contest page:

Have fun participating!

Are you damned serious?!
First of all you start a compo, saying things like "Yeah, make a tune for ALT!", offering price money (Its not about the money, that doesnt interest me much at all, its more about the compo thing) and stuff.
People put some work/time in making tunes, submitting them, you rated them and wrote comments like (may i remeber?):

"Alternative Party 14:57 30th of September 2010
Nice tunes, generally very different from each others."

"Alternative Party 23:17 2nd of October 2010
Yay, we got some new songs - our jury will listen all of these again and think about the stars. We are generally quite happy with the songs. ^^ thanks all! Still few days time thou"
After the deadline was over, all the participants were waiting for you (nearly a week) to announce a winner of that thing.
Now you damned drop the compo without one line of comment, without a statement, without a winner?!
Sorry, i think thats like "Yeah, you know... all of your tunes are... fucking crap... fuck you, go to hell!"
If you think so: Say it!
All the people woked on tunes for exactly... nothing...?
Maybe a tiny little statement would have done it!
Kicking all participants in the ass is maybe funny for you but not THAT nice... -.-

OK... so where do you get the impression that the compo has been dropped now? Please tell me it's not just because you've been waiting FOUR WHOLE DAYS for an announcement.

what gasman said. maybe they just want to keep the actual jingle SECRET until the party starts?
I got the impression from following things:

Since the deadline was over, the compo status was "Winner not selected".
Yesterday they just selected no winner and closed it without any comment...

The winner is going to be awarded with event tickets, how should that work with keeping the jingle secret, people have to plan their trips.

Why dont they just put a little statement like "We want to keep the jingle secret, so no winner has been selected" ?

The other reason was that, i have to admit, i never thought about the point that they could want to keep it in secret.
Talked to skomp yesterday, who was like "wtf? they dropped it?!" too, maybe we got the impression (independently of each other) because there is no statement about that and Audiodraft rules say:

"In case you don't get what you came looking for in AudioDraft and don't pick a winner in the end of the contest, we have a money back guarantee. This means that we will refund you prize money and 10 % handling fee."

If it's just the secret thing:
I am really sorry for flaming, i was really enraged yesterday - little unlucky not to put a statement anywhere anyway...

Probably they have emailed the winner - how about that?
Ok, forget that point...

Edit:
But they could have emailed the winner, leave the selection opened and close it with winner selection at party start. And add a comment about the secret thing, as i said

I doubt that people will only come because they won the compo...

and you could have emailed them, caught them on irc, etc etc

but instead you choose to start making snidey remarks on a public site, based on nothing but assumptions

what a great show of character!

You are right. I was so damned sure they dropped, eyes pointed directly on that thing, not even thinking about any other case and got some kind of mental blackout. That was fucking shit. I was just thinking "No winner? wtf? lets read the rules again" and found

Quote:
"In case you don't get what you came looking for in AudioDraft and don't pick a winner in the end of the contest, we have a money back guarantee. This means that we will refund you prize money and 10 % handling fee."

,no comment obout that and they closed the thing without picking one, since the status was "No winner selected" before that and then just nothing, tried to write a comment at the AD-Contest page, didn't work, talked to another participant who was thinking the drop thing too, got mental blackout.

After this i tend more and more to the secret thing, even though i think they could have left a comment about that because of this rule up there and i still dont know whats going on.
I should have contacted them but i fell into an asshole acting reaction.

Cant undo that, was totally shit how i reacted...
