Wow. WOW.

It's been such a long time that I fully enjoyed a big C64 demo; it never lingers too long on each part, it follows the music perfectly (the moment the chess-stretcher changed colors to the music I was sold - why doesn't this happen more often?), the effects have small details that add to the overall impression, and there's a good natured positive humour about it all.

This might just have displaced Insomnia as my favorite C64 demo ever.

Missing almost any overarching design which leaves me with a very disjointed impression. This is also reflected in the lack of supporting graphics which makes the demo look... well, a bit cheap. The pixel graphics there were, mainly the logos I didn't find too appealing. Despite that most individual parts are still enjoyable (had to skip majority of the scrollers though), and one thing there's definitely attention paid to are the transitions and animations. Very traditional approach to the music side of things, but superbly executed, maybe even the standout aspect of the demo. I particularly loved the last track before the credits, but really all pieces are great to varying extents.

Nice thing and some excellent tunes, which is to be expected with these names :)

Worthy winner. Much love involved and perfect "oldschool" design. Outstandig music as well. Welcome back!

what noby said. despite that the effects are nice and the backstory and everything, it's not so wow as a demo.
The interference effect is great. Looks like Stellar's Lightroom, only the palette isn't quite as nice.

Objectively very good and with some nice attention to detail (like the recursive blinking cursor in the credits :)), but overall the design is too oldschool for my tastes.

Nice feel, lots of cool gfx and tracks but doesn't kick asses in a massive way.

Nice demo with nice graphics, good effects and nice design. Completely enjoyed it. Minor detail but still worth mentioning is that it's possible to boot side 2.

BONZAI!!!
rulez added on the 2016-10-31 11:46:35 by groepaz groepaz
the beginning was strong but then it kinda went into an oldschool effect show which got me a bit bored (reading scrollers does that to us kids after a while...).
I guess it won because of the return of Bonzai, which in itself is of course a great thing!
Also the music parts by Laxity... oh yes!

Mixed about this demo. Some clever parts, but as a whole it didn't work for me

Quite traditional C64 demo but well done, with several really good screens, especially on disk 2. Enjoyed the tunes as well.

Great demo! Lots of effects coming at you all the time without hesitation. And lots of transitions linking it together.

I liked the scroller that rotated around the pipe and threw a shadow on it. Also the perspective scroller looks nice to me. starwars scroller too looks smooth.. so many scrollers! :D

I like that this demo abstains from extensive data flushing (you know, demos that fill a whole disk side with three effects), and is very measured in its approach; on the other hand it's probably slightly unremarkable, disjointed and creatively quaint, without any particular "whoa" moments or surprises in it. Everything is very solid, but not quite outstanding. Still, a good one overall.

Be proud you got it done! Starwars scroll immediate thumb. Respect for keeping each scene not longer than it should be even though it too 17 years overall.

Good to have you back.
And you came back with new ideas, too.
I love how this doesn´t look and feel like most other c64-prods of this time...it somehow has an Amiga-Feeling to it, atleast to me!
Anyways, gratz on winning X and hope you continue releasing this awesome stuff now, i am hooked! need moar demo to consume nao! ;)

Solid comeback with really classic demo design with a pinch of more "modern" sounding tunes.

Managed to totally miss this, some great code here! Could have done without the plasma but I liked the variation, actual gfx while FX, and 90s music. This is what a comeback should look like! :)

Stylish and tasteful. Loved the transitions. The entire music lineup is lifted straight off my c64 all time top 10, and delivers. This demo made me happy.
