This was a real *WTF!* moment at the party. How did this only get third place?

The tech = massive win. First spectrum 512 crossfader and twister as far as I can remember :)

Still has some rough edges, but it works ok on my mega ste, so congrats!

Oh, and more please :)

Brillant ! Fast & new gen code with Street like zik, gfx & even fx !
May have been better ranked.

Yep, nice truecolour display mode mixed with full-res overlay that seems to be semi-transparent too? Strange stuff, have to think how the heck that's made :)

Great demo! What a pity it wasn't released this way at SV2k11 :) But I've heard many comments like "if those guys could put it all together, that could be potential winner". Oh well. Anyway thanx a lot for contributing to SV2k11, Cyg! You are my hero :)

Thumb up for the improvements in their eeffects and the ok music. But most graphics are literally destroyed by the converter. :(

A fixed looping version (not looking like crashing at the end then) should soon be available at the download link.

Don't like the colors... that might be the reason why it ranked only 3rd... the demo itself rocks :)

>>> OK, fixed version is now online. <<<
It also features proper transitions on all effects.
Please re-download and re-watch it. :)

Very original demo considering the technical aspect, and it rocks! :)
Some pieces of code keep intriguing me, the "morphing" between two images. I also like the rotozoom and twister, the blur is probably precalculated (?) but is very cool!

A minor downside is that, however technical the code, the graphics had to be downgraded... It would be nice to put them aside in .png format, they deserve another chance.

All in all a *BRILLIANT* demo!

It looks a bit like a challenge to do so tech thingies on a ST, and i find this extremely fun! Thank you Cyg! :)

Sorry RA, you're not getting off that easily!

I'd really love to see more truecolor shenanigans on the ST. The more people the better. I'm still looking forward to seeing the Paradoc SV2k11 entry :-) Also I recall this was not made with the STE capabilities, so some more possibilities there perhaps?
added on the 2011-11-19 21:26:20 by CiH CiH
Paradox, not Paradoc! No edit button here.

I also note the the theme/choice of colours seems to be extremely subjective as to an overall like or dislike. I enjoyed them personally and the 'Street Art' theme is quite a nice tight theme for this demo.

blimey. this was unexpected. liked the style and feel of the prod alot, dma-sc music fitted perfect!

Technically nice and fluid, very nice music but the Pop Art style and choice of colors just does not appeal to me.

Pure technical thumb up....

I love the amazing style of this demo ! The fx and msx are also really great ! To me this is the "Arte" demo of the Atari ! Is it St really or STe? So many colours, it rocks !

I am not a big fan of the used colors, but music and effects rocks
rulez added on the 2011-11-20 20:17:36 by krusty krusty
The technical side is pretty impressive, too bad the visuals don't match the code (because of the color processing mainly).

goddamn! i think this is the most impressive ST in ages and ages! it's a little rough around the edges. but what the hell.. somebody finally had the balls and skills to do spectrum 512 animations!

most impressive ST *DEMO*, i meant. in retrospect.. seeing this needs 4MB.. i understand everything and it doesn't seem so impressive anymore. but certainly a step forward since nobody did this before. now we just have to wait for spec512 + sprite overlay and sampled sound.

video from youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJDL6VbzmZM
Thx earx, most, if not all, effects are individually running fine with 1MB, putting all gfx and code together size 1.3MB and don't forget that truecolor FX needs memory : a 128x128 textures with 16 fade degrees needs 512KB. All in all, 2.5MB should be enough, good new is that there is still free memory to do more in todays accepted 4MB...
Still crashes after the 2nd screen and i can't judge what i can't see ...

Re-downloaded it the third time now, tried on my MegaSTE with TOS 2.06, tried on Hatari with various TOS versions.
No change.
Crashes after the 2nd screen.
added on the 2011-11-24 18:44:03 by Paranoid Paranoid
Paranoid: It only works on UK TOS 2.06. It's a known bug and last time I heard from Cyg he was looking into it (strange occurance with the music driver was the guess then). My video recording was done in Hatari with UK 2.06.
added on the 2011-11-24 19:03:22 by evil evil
whooooah! Couldn´t test it on the real thing, but this (!) did not look like my standard ST. Amazing! Thanx to evil for recording it.

Works with French TOS 1.62 (On real STe)
rulez added on the 2011-11-24 20:13:52 by Rebb Rebb
Indeed it requires a french TOS but not necessarily 2.06.
Extremely impressive stuff, especially the twister.
Now i have to talk RA into finally turning all his true colour experiments into effects and making a demo out of them ... :-)

Let me add to the arm-twisting!

It would be interesting to see what an STE in that situation can do differently from this undoubted classic bar-raiser demo :-)
added on the 2011-11-24 22:17:51 by CiH CiH
I just published a bugfixed version which should work on every TOS from 1.02 to 2.06
A very unexpected comeback 12 years after Oldiez... Technically this is super impressive, some effects wouldn't be out of place in a good A1200 demo :)
The twister and rotozoom in particular look amazing (1 VBL!). The design is quite rough in places, but I can imagine there are some heavy limitations because of the colour mode.
