On Geforce3 this is simply awesome :)

The flags really looks superb, and the dezin/gfx/3d really looks good :)

is this what you call a cloths-effect? :) anyway, it looked great. this demo also features nice abstract 3d objects.
i didn't like the textures though, some scenes felt rather empty, and the music was some weird techno.

Wow, thumbs up for the cloth effect. (Probably looks better on a faster card.) Damn fine. Unfortunately the rest is just very average.

Nice looking demo and the sound is creating the right atmosphere
added on the 2002-05-13 03:18:29 by Crest Crest
the soundtrack together with the gfx manages to create a pleasurable atmosphere, but the demo (/ track) isn't 'going' anywhere.

nothing special and slow as hell.

no need for a geforceIII to render things like this.

The flags are cool, should be more wind though..

And maybe a scissor that rips the cloth apart.. :)

badly designed and boring demo with nice graphics, average music and average/bad code.

I think it's one of the better demos from this year. Though with the visualice-ish object design the wrong colorscheme might have been used. The first part is really well designed, the music fits the graphics and most of the textures look nice. Good to see a textured plasma-like effect again.
superplek: Nobody said this was a geforce3 demo in the first place.

Iam not sure of what shaders he uses for this demo but i know he has plenty of them written.. all tested on his geforce3.. and what shaders you use nowadays really isnt visible.. sure you can do most of the stuff with render2texture and grid effects etc.. but its slower+you lack precision...

Iam not sure tho if he has fallbacks for everything.. i just woke up :)
But i couldnt care less... Demos needs to get uptodate in technique and engines like this is the future.. =)

ravity: i was merely stating that a geforce2 gts didn't really cut it.

which, given the presented graphics, is quite pathetic.

stefan: i'd say vertex/pixel shaders are nice toys to take realtime 3d rendering to another level... not to use it for things that can be achieved more easily in ways that result in decent framerates on low-end graphics adapters.

plek: why do you sound like the bitches that stated stuff like "why do you use your vooodoo card to rotate that object wich i can do in software in lower resolution" and if noone started with accel.. then wow, we would still be stuck in 90s technology.. wich would be rather pathetic imo.

blahblah...it runs quite smooth on my tb900, gf256, so the system requirements aren't really THAT high :)

Some of the effects were very nice indeed. Others weren't, and as a whole this wasn't that amazing. Not appalling either, though.

You're supposed to watch this with GF3, you say. Guess it's just too bad I didn't.

I don't think it really puts my gf3 to the test. maybe there's some advanced code involved, but it just kinda doesn't look right.. cloth-effect is okay, but it makes the text written on the 'flag' unreadable.

Just for the record, I'm working on a final version at the moment, profiling on both a p4/gf3 (which I coded it on in the first place) and a p3/gf system (which I probably should have tested it on ;)

"cloth-effect is okay, but it makes the text written on the 'flag' unreadable."

thats a bug to :D we had that on one machine at underscore.. but it worked nice on another machine.... freak go and debug ;)

stefan.. i'll just assume those stupid statements aren't your fault.

Who the fuck has afford to buy GF3??? Ran quit fine on my GF2MX though, but I didn't find it too interesting. Music didn't fit very well imho....

This is an ok demo. Looks nice but too slow.

Doesn't work on my machine, but I saw it at the partyplace (GF3Ti500 ;-) ), and it worked well there. The effects aren't in general that technically difficult, but everything has a very nice and "organic" feel to it. Overall, it's a cool demo, or at least what I saw on the bigscreen (ie. on a quick card and a fast machine, so you won't see if it's slow or not) rocked :-)

i can´t run the demo. the exe couldn´t find "/gfx/blah....tga/. When ei unzip the file, there is no gfx directory. can someone help? i download the file from scene.org. party directory. and i also try different packer.
