Very nice, will run it on the real thing ASAP. Maybe it could have been in HI-RES?

Oh and thanks for the greetings, this is my first time and I won't forget it :)

Love the "Unknown Pleasures" effect and how it all works together with the tune. Maybe small in size but not in content. You are INTERGALACTIC guyz! :)

Neat logo effect and audio visualisation presented in its very own style
like the previous releases. I'm curious what will be next.
Public source code appreciated and thanks for the unexpected
greetings. I had to rub my eyes in disbelief. Cheers.

Thank you for the kind comments and ratings. I always read all the comments. Now it's time to share a few details with you.

General
A few weeks after the release of Talking Heads , Lord proposed to release another smaller production by the end of the year. He had something in mind with waves. But I had no idea at all what new things could be done with waves. In my opinion, Zodiac has already made the most beautiful waves on the Amiga in his Zappel demo. So another function plotter was out of the question. But then I suddenly had this idea with Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures album cover respectively the data of the pulsar CP 1919. Then it started under the working title "UP" (Unknown Pleasures). However, it was clear that the demo would eventually be called something else. The name "Joy to the World" was in the running for a long time. After a short discussion with Ferris, Gargaj and Spenot we decided to use Monochrome.

Tech
To draw many short lines with the blitter, the initialization effort of the individual partial lines is too big. And for removing hidden lines you need the pixel coordinates of the lines, if you don't want to do this by filling areas. Anyway, it just takes too long. Conclusion: the lines are drawn with Bresenham's line algorithm (CPU).

For the real-time "spectrum analyzer", I first considered doing this with precalculated FFT data. But the amount of data would be too big and I suspect that it would not look so good. Now the instruments simply trigger peaks on the x axis. The played tones/samples can be intercepted well in the Light Speed Player.

The logo effect (some of you call it wipe or swipe) came about quite spontaneously. Lord first offered to draw a logo. However, I told him to wait with it, because I had an idea. And that idea looks pretty good to me now. The 4 "celestial directions" are made with 3 bitplanes and 1 sprites layer.

Fun facts
Lord wished for a snowfall effect at the end of the demo. However, I found it too playful for the rather minimalist mood. So I didn't implement it. But there is a small apology in the form of a hidden message. Maybe you just hold something down during startup or look into the source code. ;-)

Q&A
KONEY, moredhel: hi-res was actually the idea at the beginning. Somehow, however, I didn't pursue it any further.
ROG: To answer your question what comes next: probably something completely different. Stay tuned. Needs some more time.

pretty neat!
is there a chance for Amicom's "Atom Demo" anytime soon? =)

That's where I ended up when I thought about it with my modest
knowledge...something like one set pixel per x-coord of the audiowave,
subsequently vertically filled from top to bottom in order to get a mask.

Yeah, staying tuned and taut as a bow :-)

Spreadpoint [web]
The Spreadpoint[web] link tries to connect to MPI / Berlin (Molecular
Genetics) but fails. Eh, is that supposed to be like that?

Very well executed ! I really like the consistency here. But to TBH when I first saw the screenshot I felt oh no... not this cover... to me it is to computer graphics something like stairway to heaven is for guitar shops... but as said, I am glad Depeche did it so at least it well done before anyone else waste it.

Thanks gentleman, gorgh, violator (Somehow I like your name ;-) ), ROG_VF and Jumbo Burger for the new comments.

gentleman: Even I can't wait for the day when Amicom's Atom demo will see the light of day. ;-) It was announced big in the Small Demo back then.
ROG: Oops. The link effectively still points to an ancient and now inactive website. Correction has been requested. Thanks.
Jumbo Burger: I'm glad it turned out so well. I actually thought twice about uploading this exact screenshot. And now I'm looking forward to Melon's next production ;-)

I'm biased, of course, because Monochrome was released at the Demonights in Bern. A really well done production, to the point. Thanks Spreadpoint for being awesome.
