Great rebirth!
Cool
Indeed
Rules!
It was nice, though seemed like it could use a little more... something. Also everyone recognized the tune (or at least its basis). :)
Well done.
Not the most technologically impressive demo, but it does have a pretty pleasant music and a nice feel to it.
The space scenes were pretty cool, but the 'city' was a little underwhelming, and the performance wasn't very good.

I really like the original, but getting an intro like this from 16 years ago into 8k doesn't really impress me. I wish you improved on it instead of trying to copy it as closely as possible.
i was watching it and going "wait... i've seen this... these kind of sounds... this kind of flatshaded city... the sun... it's exactly like that..." had to read the name again to realize it was a tribute remake in lower size :)
well done :)
well done :)
I have to thumb it up for including the loader :_)
I don't get the point of small-size remakes with no artistic creativity.
You could at least have fixed the floating tiles' clipping into buildings, but I suppose you tried to simulate the original feel of the 2001 demo as close as possible. Still nice, though and lovely music!
I like it very much. Remakes are important, they remaind us our roots, our fascinations. They show us from there we come from. Everybody should know Desert Dream, Dutch Breeze, Nexus7. So big respect here! Ah, by the way, the best soundtrack in Revision 8k intro compo.
Hearing that soundtrack on the PA made me _very_ happy - this is a fantastic demake!
I admit the penny didn't drop until that classic melody started playing. :)
When I saw those ugly, brown buildings, I seriously thought there must be something wrong with the intro.
Reading here that this was the obligatory yearly 8k remake, it makes more sense. Saves it from a thumb.

I love you guys! One of my most favourite 64k of all time perfectly remade in 8k.. Thank you <3

To be fair they did improve on it—in every respect, but very subtly so. I've just rewatched Rise for the first time in like ten years, comparing it scene by scene with the remake, and the 64k definitely looks and sounds a lot worse and less detailed. There are lots of light touches here and there that make the difference. The old intro has been effectively made obsolete, and it's not a bad thing at all, because we have a win/win situation here.
I also understand the general animosity towards remakes, but I really do think we need more prods like this as well, because the best demos of the previous decades are already where they want to be artistically, and the dated tech then becomes the main (if not the only) focus of improvement—and there is a lot to improve in almost every case! If anything, I see no harm in it, or at least less so than in a Raymarched Fractal #26378 we're fed yearly on 4k/8k compos. I was only recently thinking about fr-08, the prod that got me hooked on demoscene some 15 years ago, and was lamenting the fact that despite being such a great entry demo for me and many other people, it lost almost all of its luster over time. But if it were to receive the same treatment as Rise here... who knows, maybe I would still have a reason to show one of my favorite old demos to somebody and say "hey, look at this awesome shit", and it would actually still feel awesome in many ways.
A wonderful production, absolutely my cup of tea.
Offtopic: POWL, I will(!) contact you before Revision 2018, I am afraid of a financial Desaster otherwise. ;)

The music touched me more than the graphics.
Nice to see Gopher back actively in ATZ ! :D
this is great
Well, at least it's no the millionth remake of Second Reality. ;)
hella awsum job guys!
good old 64k redone well
might be technical impressive but it bored me between the 1st end the last scene :\ but the music is better than in the original :D oink.
Great remake!
Ok, I give it a thumb. It's just so pleasant to look at. Audio drops out suddenly after the greetings part though.
800% compression is thumbworthy
Ace :)
lovely remake of one of my alltime favourite intros!
super!
Well I didn't realize this was a remake during the compo but now it all makes sense. More music like this in 4k/8k productions, please.

Well, it is there a more ossom way of expressing "I <3 your work"? ;)
Besides, there are many subtle improvements in regard of todays possibilities :)
great
Music is a remix of "Rise" from "A-Move" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUpPv8poNKY
But you probably already knew this ;)
Oh apparently I forgot to thumb this. I really enjoyed this tribute at the party, faithful to the original.
Oh well, what LLB said:
