Nice to see this finally released.

Awesome! Lots of parts and a bit of interactivity. I find the Benediction part particularly impressive (the plasma, the texture-mapped twisters).

Also, check out the Dirty Minds part. It features dot-rotozoomers and a bit of polygon rasterization.

Great stuff for our beloved Amstrad!

It was worth to wait for it!!! Great effects, nice music - well, but I don't like demos with menu systems. Anyway... I have to admit that I enjoyed the small "mini game" selection menu :D.

Very boring.

Boring my ass. So much content, good looking effects (not that I'd know much about CPC coding), quality gfx/music. Nice to see such a mega group effort pulled off.
rulez added on the 2016-06-25 12:54:28 by break break
Finally it's here! There is a lot of great art, great menu, some really good parts, two parts that unfortunately need CRTC 1 and watched those two on youtube anyway :)

That was a great collaboration, I am pretty sure really hard to coordinate, put all parts together, totally worth the wait!
rulez added on the 2016-06-25 14:49:30 by Optimus Optimus
Wow amazing!!! Code, gfx and musics on a very high level! :)

Holy shit!!!
rulez added on the 2016-06-25 17:16:53 by Buckethead Buckethead
Great work and effort! Almost all content is surprising, although it is need to know the limitations of the CPC to understand the merit of some parts.

A slightly more classic than my favorite style, but that was already known. Since the project was raised, I was afraid that the mix of the styles of the authors could be a problem, but the overall result has been pretty good!

C64 users can continue to envying our colorful platform for 30 years more :)

Congratulations!

If you're watching the youtube cap of this stick with it. It builds towards the end. Very nice stuff from Futurs and Vanity/Logon System. Also the menu is sweet.

It indeed gets better the more things progress (in the video), so keep on watching :)

I specially like the graphics in the menu and the Vanity part, and there's some nice musics here and there.

Really the biggest thing for me is that there's no loader, just a black screen: Is it impossible to make an animated loader on the CPC ?
rulez added on the 2016-06-26 11:32:42 by Dbug Dbug
Champagne! I choose: nice celebration texts from T&J, BND/Eliot which keeps improving, I love Futur's part on CRTC1, surprising poly-Pulkomandy on code+gfx+sfx, vectorized(?) Optimus... Much respect also to BND/Krusty for faith and effort 'til the release.

Sourcecode for Shinra part is now available, including "cpc.mk" makefile and linker script for easier coding of Amstrad CPC demos using vasm, vlink, and cpctools:
spoiler alert

It is recommended that you first watch the demo and try to understand by yourself what is going on, of course :)
Nice and what Octoate and Optimus said!

Yes, of course it is possible to have an animated loader with music. It was what we intially expected. However as it has not been delivered, we had to do without it.

Lovely collective work with eclectic and original content! :)
Nice graphics, musics and impressive 50Hz overscan effects. A very funy menu and hidden part too.

The CPC is over the top since 5 years and look to never stop to impress!
Nerds, don't cry here! The shadow over the CPC is due to a persistant eclypse of your renewal...

Come on, you do not know this platform :
- most screens were not doable with the knowledge of the 80's
- even in the 90's some effects could have been done by very very few people. Even less people released stuff. Not sure there other demos than these ones which were breakthroughs S&KOH, Madness

For information, the advice given to the participants was to create an old-school like onescreen part. So it is normal and expected if there is a vintage smell.

It does not mean there are no modern hardcore methods under the hood and that it would have been ok in the 80's.

Thumbs up for the work of the other participants and especially Vanity and Futurs which totally contradict this statement

Finally after 5 or so years in the making its here :)
used to follow the thread on Push&Pop website..
Has some amazing effects on board.. and some great gfx aswell..
Hopefully this inspires others like batman group to release something (big) again :)

Keep it all up ya all!

I do not understand because ye have criticized the comment, I just said that the demo was a good idea, a little low level as in the demo a comment to the scene of commodore is made, only indicated that you will continue 30 years in the shadow of the scene of commodore.

Hopefully the Amstrad scene was so prolific and good as commodore.

Without acrimony.
added on the 2016-07-04 23:10:12 by Batman/BG Batman/BG
Some effects are good technically, but overall it's quantity over quality and design or consistency got lost completely on the way. I much prefer fewer parts with an actual flow and coherent design. C'mon, we're no longer in the 80ies!

Considering the amount of effort involved, I obviously won't downvote this but as a whole it's nothing more than a piggy.
added on the 2016-07-06 11:30:51 by Kylearan Kylearan
Don't know what's wrong with me but i have absolutely no difficulties enjoying good old 80's multipart megademos as well as more modern stuff with "coherent design".

This one had nice selector (for some reason reminded me of jack the nipper 1 :D) and some cool parts.
rulez added on the 2016-07-06 15:40:35 by Serpent Serpent
It is an anniversary demo; most parts where designed with oldshool in mind because of this. At least it is the case of ours. :)

Guys I just wanna say I truly love the fonts.. Most of them are even proportional and some overlapping. Nice work.. Thumbed already (code, music, gfx), but the demo is graphically most of the time just awesome. Atleast the menu is absolutely gorgeous. Nice, too see such advanced CPC stuff in 2016.
added on the 2016-07-09 14:31:18 by mad mad
Great job on the CPC, this one made me pulling the CPC from its storage.

Vanity's part with wrong CRTC is also worth it

I consider also this megademo contains the most impressive (till now!) demopart ever seen on CPC: Back to Futurs.

Is the scroller in the first sniper loader part subpixel? :) You must excuse the question since I'm not knowledgeable about Amstrad.
added on the 2016-07-19 02:48:00 by Photon Photon
@photon: there are no subpixels scrollers ; slowests one are a pixel precision, not less
